  1. I'm sure you had some good points. In fact, I saw one or two. However, I could not get even halfway through your post due to the blatant misuse of there/their.
  2. Fixed. I also thought this was common knowledge.
  3. Can't we come to a point where we agree that not all pop music sucks, but that people, in fact, do suck.
  4. I'm going to reconsider and give him the benefit of the doubt. Kthnxbai gives the post a sarcastic feel. I've also noticed a complete lack of OCR props in his website. What a dick move.
  5. I was disturbed by a phone call I got from the FBI. I thought I was in some deep shit when the Bureau left me an urgent voicemail. Every one of those bastards should be thrown in jail. I mean, as it turns out, I just had to help them with a background check for one of my USAF buddies, but it apparently is not about intent. It's about the fact that they disrupted my class because my cell phone was still set to loud and when I was questioned about why I would ever be listening to my voicemail in the middle of lecture I had to admit that the FBI was calling me. That and Charles Dickens. I want his ass posthumously fined for writing Great Expectations. We are a lame society right now.
  6. I've got Haunted House. It's a bitch, and you wouldn't need the midi anyways since it's pretty easy to figure out on a piano or something. You're looking at Stage Boss and Lethal Lava Land, I think. The first page of the thread has a link to .mp3 files for the whole soundtrack. EDIT: First page, third page, what's the difference? http://dl1.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/dl/130/e3c203/Super_Mario_64_Soundtrack/10_-_lethal_lava_land.mp3 http://dl1.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/dl/130/80de55/Super_Mario_64_Soundtrack/27_-_stage_boss.mp3
  7. I think you have to create a label first, then you can add yourself to it as an artist. I don't think there is a way to control what you're credited for, though. That's completely out of your hands and only up to people who are using your name as an artist in their playlist.
  8. This is sort of like that Zelda song by System of a Down. It's not by System of a Down, but if someone with the Audio Scrobbler plugin plays a track on their computer that has it labeled as SoaD, then it will pop up as a track played on the SoaD page. Same with House of the Rising Sun and the dozen bands that it has incorrectly labeled. Between mislabeled tracks and several people using the same moniker, you're bound to have things like this.
  9. I guess that using this person's logic, House of the Rising Sun was actually recorded by The Doors, CCR, Zeppelin, The Moody Blues, and Bob Dylan, but not by The Animals. P2P has so many wrong artists that it's unbelievable.
  10. For someone with little to no grammar and punctuation, you sure are a stickler for it. Also, hip hop is a little bit more than just a drum and talking. At that point a lot of monk, chant, African tribal, Asian religious, etc, etc, qualifies as hip hop. But since this is a WiP thread: Your song was over five minutes long, but only had about two minutes of listening before I got bored of hearing the exact same thing over and over again. In my opinion your bass and lead sounds are atrocious. Well, I think most of your sounds are bad. The chime/mallet sound is neat, and the ping too, but otherwise... I don't hear any lyrics, which is kind of key for your genre. But what do I know, right?
  11. I just got back from seeing it. I actually really liked it. The interaction made the movie, though. The new evil enemy was lame as fuck. The animation looked like a cross between Transformers Beast Wars and Wallace & Grommit, but after a while it stopped irritating me. It was definitely worth seeing and had its few moments of edginess. Go for it.
  12. Probably the last version of this before I submit. Try and get a few more criticisms. -Saxes completely removed, replaced by tuba, horn, other woodwinds -Woodwinds added more into the background -Made bass trombone less abrasive -I don't remember if there's added percussion in the last one but it's here now -Better horn sample, hopefully -VBR was too high, adjusted to straight 192 -Other crap http://bfratto.googlepages.com/fotd4.mp3
  13. Haha, BASS! I'm not much for techno/trance/whatever, but the intro is great. While I see the repetition comments, and I agree, there and small changes in the melody every time around, making me pay attention to what's going on.
  14. Angus Young couldn't play his instrument? Seems to me, anyone who can solo while riding piggy-back on someone's shoulders, or racing from one side of the stage to another, or while rolling around on his back can probably be credited more than "can barely play [his] own instrument." Also, what's an ultra-dynamic meter change? Maybe a few of these mixes of ultra-meter and ultra-dynamic can get my mixes past the judges? Elaborate.
  15. Pretty much. Until you said this, I forgot that this post had started out that way. I think the thread is evolving, just like life, to a more general form of elitist hate.
  16. Indie is exactly where I was going with punk rock kids. I can't for the life of me find any consistent definition, or even similar trait, among "indie" music except that the music is not at all popular or well known. Then all of the sudden as soon as you get popular, your old indie fans start to hate you and call you a sell out. Green Day for example. If I had to choose a "sell out" moment for them, it would be Boulevard of Broken Dreams, but really only because I hate that song. Indie kids, however, already hated Green Day for selling out before I had even gotten the chance to buy Dookie in the stores. That's what I call elitism.
  17. Classically trained music students aren't your problem. I've been going to school for Music Education with Focus on Tuba and Trombone for six long years. While I've been wasting my life away in music school, I've noticed that most of the people in the department are more open minded than most. It's usually the crazy punk rock kids, or the electronica guys that get snobby with music in my experience. Granted, while the classically trained aren't as big in numbers for elitism, the elitists that are there are so hardcore that I wonder how they function in life.
  18. Where are the current WiP's at? I'm pretty interested in hearing some of them since there's so many already already listed as having them.
  19. Yeah, I don't know. I moved a lot of instrumentation around to only have saxes in the sax "feature" and to give the horn part more significance. Take 4. http://bfratto.googlepages.com/fotd2.mp3
  20. The only reason I wasn't going straight for Haunted House is it's lack of melodic source material, whereas Koopa had more melodic source. I'm stoked for Haunted House though. One of my favorites. I'm down.
  21. I'm thinking Koopa Theme or Haunted House, leaning toward Koopa. What do y'all think?
