  1. It would be interesting to know how much theory you know. I would only agree that theory is one of the easiest parts of music if you stop at scales, keys, and major/minor chords. Learning about a sub-dominant, how to make a German +6 chord, neapolitan chords, plus a lot of other crazy shit, and then how to actually use these practically is not the easiest thing to learn. QFE.
  2. Battle Toads. Pause music. Done and done.
  3. I can play your trombone parts. I mostly play bass, but I could do tenor parts of long as they aren't too high. Good general range for me is from F1 to F4, but I can go as high as Bb4 or as low as Ab0 (I could never play a line that low, but long notes would work). Other shit you probably don't need, but might come in handy: Tuba Basic bass guitar BassBaritone voice, sometimes tenor
  4. Sadly, I think he's a redcoat. As such, he should already speak English.
  5. Do you pay attention to anything before you post, or are you just new?

  7. There's some really good older shit out there before the 2007 stuff comes out. 1989 SCV 2000 Cavaliers 1996 Phantom
  8. The Scouts were so miserably bad that the Academy beat them in there first year as a D1 corps. I'm impressed at the way corps like Phantom and Blue Coats are starting to jump back into the game in recent years.
  9. So you're copycatting Arek and trying to pull off a third Kirby project? That's awesome, man.
  10. I used Alpus almost exclusively from middle of last year until about a month ago. Since then it hasn't worked at all for me.
  11. Sounds pretty good. What corp is this for? The vast majority of marching groups wouldn't have the arranger writing their battery parts, so I wouldn't worry about your skill writing that. As a band guy and marching fan I really like this, but as a tuba player I think I hate you. It sounds like this was written for a bad-mediocre band with half a dozen ringers on trumpet/horn. With very few exceptions I just hear sustained roots at a mezzo forte to fortissimo dynamic. It's mentally exhausting to memorize pages of tied whole notes, and then once it's memorized then I'm bored to tears. Seems like the neat low brass riff at the end just isn't a good enough cum shot to have to play through five minutes of roots. The low brass has some of the same issue. Maybe I just can't hear moving lines due to the Finale instruments? Then again, who even listens to the tuba part... I'd like to know when this show goes on the field.
  12. Shit. I just had to cancel a trip to NYC for that weekend. Planes are a lot of money.
  13. Lighten up The Damned. Jack clearly never said that he had doesn't type in character.
  14. Maybe someone could explain what LARP stands for, so that he can see that it is, in fact, LARPing.
  15. I didn't realize it was time to fold 'em until I was 4.5 years into a Music Ed degree. So here I regretfully start my seventh year of tuba/trombone. I might get a Masters in jazz though.
  16. This is just another excuse to get something else thrown into insurance coverage. Insurance is the only reason it is even being brought up, otherwise it would just be treated as any other addiction, which usually boils down to some other problem (depression, self esteem, being a lazy douche). There are a lot of parents who don't want to take responsibility for their children, and a lot of psychs/pharms that would like to profit from parental laziness with a pill or thirty minute weekly session. The prime candidates for this will be definite introverts and considered nerds/geeks. Since that clique has the most worrisome parents (mentally) then they will be extremely easy to coerce into blowing a fortune on medications. I use the early 90s and ADD as an example. Any child that had trouble concentrating for an hour straight was deemed ADD and the ISD would suggest (read: strongly suggest) medications.
  17. Well, shit. I had no idea it was coming to DFW. Wish I'd known in advance. The DSO can play like beasts.
  18. Jupiter is dramatic Jollity. The piece wrenches the joy from you physically. It's almost like a bittersweet victory song. Anything based off of it can definitely be thrown back to the serious side.
