  1. tropical freeze is great what's funny is gamespot was like 'this game isn't easy enough. 6.' so yeah that happened
  2. no i do get it but if you have the ability to stun people at long range and kill them, they have to respect it. you have to catch someone out, or stand back while your team gets engaged on and catch someone with the stun that you want to kill. you have to stand wayyyy out of your range for the majority of fights. but for the most part, i've found that two or three out of 5 people on the enemy team is 0-deathable, or very close to it, if you've played well and have farmed up enough. one of them will be within your range while you're still safe during a teamfight, and if you can instantly kill them and do damage to other people as well, you're doing a pretty big thing for your team. on top of that, the aoe stun can be used to box people in for other aoe things, like an amumu ultimate, galio, leona, whatever. being able to kill people is powerful but not as powerful as the tools he has surrounding his kit that allow him to do so, while setting up the rest of your team. veigar is not god tier but if the other team has to fear him (which often happens if you can farm well) he punishes bad initiates and poor positioning as hard as anyone.
  3. magic penetration and bleedy mask are more effective than 110-130 MR, and zhonya's doesn't work when you're stunned i get veigar has things that don't suit him well to high level team comp based games, but he still crushes if played conservatively
  4. someone's going to have to explain why veigar doesn't work anymore to me because i think i have something like 4 losses with him in the past year and a half nobody buys MR as a stat, all ap carries build full ap (with a couple minor exceptions) and nobody, not even ad carries, bring cleanse. why does veigar not do damage anymore despite having some of the best ratios and base values in the game, and a 2 second aoe stun? i must be missing something.
  5. sure you can kill the first person to the party with a long range stun and burst, win the ensuing 4v5, keep tons and tons of range until your cooldowns are back up that's about how veigar works
  6. The champion that benefits from Runaan's most right now is Caitlyn. It charges her passive 3 times as fast, making for a critical passive hit every 2-3 shots, doing ADC-scale damage to multiple targets, and extending her range to 150 units (?) past her target. A close second is Ashe, who can turn on permaslow and kite half of the enemy team until she runs out of mana. The two you mentioned both like runaan's (and so does teemo) but require significant teamplay to keep them safe.
  7. too bad giving an item an active slow + self speed buff has more or less the same effect 9 out of 10 times *cough* BOTRK *cough
  8. how have you done that? i'm unsure of how that would be possible.
  9. 'it happens to everyone thus is fair' is a logical fallacy. thinking anyone will play 2000 games of league and not be incredibly unhealthy, dead or a professional is also kind of stupid. most people play less than 100 ranked games/season, making your mathematical theorycrafting a moot point. you cannot argue that because you're not a troll your team is more likely to win, because the likelihood that someone in your game is a troll or not is not a team-based statistic, it is an individual statistic. there is no percentage of the time that any individual will troll or give up, unless that percentage is 100% in which case that person will get banned eventually. this is actually one of the few statistics that CANNOT be used as feedback, out of all the statistics of league. also the idea of 'comparable teammates' in bronze 5 is nonexistent, as any two people with mmr under a certain range (my guess is 1100-1200, but the relevant point being a large percentage of the people playing this game) aren't actually going to be the same skill. there are hundreds of thousands of people floating around 900 MMR. between those hundreds of thousands are people of vastly different skill levels. ask anyone who's been at very low MMR: there are people who lose games for everyone else and shouldn't even be that high, people who belong there, and people who are clearly better than everyone else, but not good enough to consistently overcome the aforementioned teammate who loses games for everyone else. MMR works - but only into mid-level gold and higher. seeing as that's less than 10% of the total population of users, the MMR system is wildly unreliable for the vast majority of players. 'get better' is not the only solution here. Neblix: the algorithm is already flawed and inaccurate. what is worth protecting here?
  10. but not impossible by any means look obviously i like playing league more or i wouldn't be here but at the end of the day, saying 'the only way (and the best way!) we can judge your skill is by whether you win or lose games that we are attempting to make you win 50% of the time' is laughable. there are obviously other ways. it is VERY likely that one of them is a better way. i don't have some all-in-one solution but the current system could be improved and if you think the current system is the best it can possibly be, and that no improvements can be made so that MMR is a more valuable, objective statistic, you're fooling yourself.
  11. and my post wasn't directed at you. you made the point that you can get stomped with bad party comp, i noted that i was aware of that, and moved on i'm missing where your issue is except for the clear 'jab' you're taking at my preferences so there's that
  12. No, but if you go 0/8/0 and your team still wins, are you the reason your team won? Or are you the reason that your team had to squeak it out? 0/0/0 is not a bad score. There would be no reason to penalize that in any way. KDA being how you get LP is not what I'm arguing for. But if you're 1/7/0, haven't helped push any towers, have half the CS of the rest of the players, and happen to be on the winning team, should you get the same 15 LP that I get if we're the same ELO and I've been pushing towers and getting kills/assists in teamfights? Absolutely not. There are all sorts of good scores. going 0/2/11 is great; you supported your team either from support or as a tank or whatever. Going 14/2/5 is great; you got kills and effectively dealt damage throughout the game. Going 6/4/7 is great; you disrupted the enemy team and intimidated them with your damage as a bruiser. What everyone knows is that 3/9/2 is not good, effective play. 0/15/0 is not good effective play. 6/16/3 is not good effective play. Not helping get any objectives is not good effective play. Not interacting with champions throughout the course of a game is not good effective play. Yet someone who does the former (ex. 14/2/5 with great CS and objectives) and someone who does the latter (ex. 0/12/0 with no CS and 5 pairs of boots) are rewarded the same, if they are on the same team. Statistics are there to be used - statistics are used in athletics to compare athletes. In science to measure results. LoL mixes both fields, and as of right now throws away all statistics that aren't Win/Loss, because 'carry harder.' It's absurd for them to be able to say with a straight face, "this is a good system. We're going to keep using it and not look for other solutions."
  13. frankly the idea that riot and a significant portion of their audience subscribes to, that the only important piece of information that your status should be based on is whether you won or lost, is stupid. it's obviously not. if you go 15-2 and still lose, you played well. you deserve a reward. it is impossible in every way to do that well and have contributed to why your team lost, even in a good close game. in the same vein, someone who is power-ranking with a duo much better than them doesn't deserve tons of LP for getting 45 CS as an ADC and going 2-8. that person doesn't deserve the same reward as the person who made up for that ADC's ineptitude by being a boss and carrying the team. it goes without saying that if game stats were used to determine LP games *along with* win/loss, the stratification of skill levels between leagues would immediately become more apparent and consistent. not only that, it would limit the effectiveness of intentional trolling and feeding, punish people for giving up in the middle of a game, and reward them for solid fundamental play. but you know, ELO system.
  14. look i know this i played and beat this game when it came out in japan last year. i played through it at a normal pace, did side quests, got people for my town rebuilding organically through streetpass, and had a great time. there were one or two points at which i had to do some leveling outside the story, but neither of them were for long periods of time, and honestly i probably could have powered through without farming levels if i had really put my mind to it. my point is being like 'SIT IN THIS AREA AND LEVEL FOR 6 HOURS THEN YOU WILL BE UNBEATABLE FOR THE REST OF THE GAME' doesn't sound like fun, at all. do you have to have good equipment and party setup? yes. do you have to sit there grinding forever until oblivion? no. you can if you want, but then you just have an easy-as-shit game. what's fun about that? if this is what you people think is fun about RPGs then I can see why you all hated the 13 series, because it didn't give you the means to farm and break the difficulty curve of the game from an incredibly early point
  15. If it is for the reason he stated (which is debatable) then I honestly think it's beyond egotistical and selfish for him to say "I want to make a small game so I'm going to fire most of my company and do what I want." If this were in a different industry or on a different scale no one would be making excuses for Ken Levine. I cannot think of any other instance in which a large, successful company said 'ehhh I think we''ll change directions. Because of that, we're firing everybody,' without backlash. Is this story more than the press release entails? Probably. So this is probably moot. But shutting down your own successful company to do what you feel like instead of just leaving it in the hands of someone else and then going to do what you feel like seems wrong to me.
  16. i just played in a 3.25v5 and won everyone on my team except for me (skarner) and a kayle were constantly disconnecting while the other team had 5 and me and kayle just dumpstered their whole team anyways felt good
  17. why is somewhat-shadily leveling your entire team until the game isn't even close to challenging anymore fun? did i miss something?
  18. we don't trash things without putting up a good reason here fair warning. 'that game was garbage' doesn't have a good reason. 'that game was garbage because X' has a good reason.
  19. show could be good for them if the writing is on point the game could have promise but right now everyone's limbs are just slightly too long it looks creepy. if they fix the designs slightly it wouldn't hurt
  20. just saw this in the general thread, i like it a lot
