Hey that's great!! It will be awesome to have a promo video. I PM'd you. (I don't know why ppl say this in the thread, because you'll see the PM, but there you go, now everybody knows I did it.)
-
happy birthday jay!! have an awesome, rockin' day!!
-
Happy bday .)

Hehe fun video It does look labor intensive, like the commenter said... OK people we have 4 weeks left until the deadline!! How's everyone's videos going?? We are shooting again this weekend, and that will (hopefully) be the final session. Vinnie (Palpable) and I will be editing this together, possibly with the help of others involved in our SUPER COLLAB video. It will be interesting because we will be moving out before the deadline, so we will have to deal with packing/moving in addition to editing and the rest of everything else going on in life. So we'll all see how that turns out.

Vinnie + I got a letter in the mail today from Bahamut, and there is a page that is addressed to OCR. While he did not explicitly ask that we type up the message and post it in the forums, it seems apparent that he wanted the message to get to the OCR community. So I have taken the liberty of typing it up and posting it here. Maybe this thread can serve as a place where people can post messages to Bahamut when he returns to internet-land, or any other correspondence from him to share with the community. OK now onto the letter (to the best of my ability to decipher his cursive ): EDIT: Duhhh this just occurred to me after posting this... there was a return address on the letter. I could conceivably write back to Wes and send him any mesages from the community! So if there's anything you'd like me to pass onto him in a letter, post it here. Yay.

AMVs are fine .) I'll add you to the list in the OP.

Yes! You do Oh yeah, and Yes, this was in Fairfax, VA. Is PM a good way to reach you?

We just finished part 1 of filming, and I am wiped. But I just had to share this with you. There were 8 of us: Me, Vinnie/Palpable, Stevo/Level99, David/Brushfire, Brandon/Harmony, Kaiser/Kizyr, Jarel/Arrow, and Arun. We had sooo much fun and I feel so grateful that everyone was willing to help out because they helped make this like a million times awesomer than I could ever do on my own. Again, at the risk of spoiling my video or whatev, here are some pictures from tonight. Yeah it's not usually my style to give stuff away, I'd usually rather keep it secret, but I've decided I'm going to do the opposite of what I normally would do in the hopes that maybe it will inspire somebody else. (I think I said that already, in this very thread. Oh well.)

Easy-to-make video game costume for a 4-week-old
Diodes replied to Kanthos's topic in General Discussion
Well whatever costume you end up going with, pics or it didn't happen!! That is going to be way too adorable!! -
Agreed. Just have fun with it .) If you do, chances are, we will too.
-
Good guess!! Fun fact: Vinnie took this picture (and several more like it).

Hey that is too bad, I had told audio that you were planning to do a video to his remix and we were all looking forward to seeing it... but someday, right? I updated the first post and did not delete Pirate Shout because you will do it eventually! I'm planning to put together a huge filming party this weekend with lots of local OCR people to come help out and watch and it should be super fun. I'll try to get people to take pics of the whole thing so I can post them here.

Happy Birthday to Cerrax, danimal cannon, and SGX!
Diodes replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Happy birthday, guys! -
We took a bunch of pictures for my video last night. It is a very small part of everything that needs to be done for the video, but at least that was the first step. Historically I might be the kind of person to work on a project and not reveal anything about it until it's done, to keep things as a surprise. But I thought I'd try something different this time and show previews of stuff along the way. So at the risk of completely ruining the mystique of my music video... here is a picture that will give you pretty much no idea what my music video is about:
-
Or... some of both!! Personally, I am in favor of anybody willing to dress up in a pirate costume and film themself doing pirate-y things ~_^ But... you do what you like.
-
Yes, at least one other person from the discussion was in favor of doing this, so why don't we try it out. I'll update the original post.

OK so I posted the new thread. What I posted there is basically the same as what we already had, I figure I better get moving with setting a deadline and getting this thing started, then if we need to, we can still iron out details. Basically, I know it sounds like an excuse, but right now life is totally kicking my ass. I don't really have the capacity to do more than run the simple competition and coordinate the viewing party. While I would like to see this grow into something bigger with more promotion and potentially prizes or other incentives, I don't think I am the right person to steer this in that direction. If somebody else would like to step up and take the OCRMVC to the next level (and we think you are responsible and organized enough to do it), then I would be happy to pass the torch. Otherwise, I guess we will just leave things at this for now. All that being said, I might as well share my thoughts on this discussion anyway: - On promotion: I think your ideas are good, I hope we can find some volunteers to make a banner and/or a trailer. I can talk to djp/Larry/OCAD to see if we can get more help with promotion. As for a trailer, it's true it would have to reach the right audience. All I can think is to just link it here in the forums and pass it around on FB or wherever else you know other people who would be interested in this sort of thing. I will be going to Katsucon this Friday, and we will be showing one of the OCRMVs there, and I will talk about it and promote it, so that's something at least. - On prizes/incentives: I have mixed feelings about the issue of prizes/winners. I think it has the potential to add an extra dimension to the challenge, but at the same time, it also introduces complications. Right now, we don't even have winners or any kind of judging system, so that would need to be worked out. So yeah, I think there would have to be a lot of discussion in order to move in that direction. - On "claiming" tracks: I could ask people to state what remix they are doing a video of, and we can keep a public list of that. But, should we really preclude people from doing videos of the same song? I would be inclined to say that we shouldn't have a rule saying that's not allowed. For example, around the time of one of the previous OCRMVCs, OA had put out a call to make a video for Wanderer on the Offensive, so at least a few videos of that remix were floating around. To my recollection, only one of them ended up getting submitted here, but if more than one had, I would hardly want to discourage somebody from entering it. So yeah, in conclusion, maybe we can just keep a public list of what people are making videos of and just suggest to people to pick different remixes, or at least have it out there so that you can pick one that hasn't been picked if you feel strongly that you want yours to be unique. Anyway, with 2,000+ remixes, I don't think there's that great of a chance of having repeats anyway.

Hey everyone! Welcome to... OverClocked Remix Music Video Challenge 4 The deadline for this challenge will be Sunday, May 1, 2011. We will have an IRC viewing party that evening! OCR02183 - Super Mario Galaxy "Gusty Piano in a Garden"
Diodes replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Yay, I'm so happy to see this get posted! I heard bits and pieces when Vinnie was working on the production, and I was intrigued. Now that I've heard the whole piece, I think it's beautiful! I just love the part you mentioned in your writeup where it switches at 2:15. The jazzy chords are awesome. Def. looking forward to hearing more from you! -
Thanks everyone for your input. I just wanted to pipe up and say that I will probably announce the next deadline sometime soon, sometime in the next week. It sounds like people aren't too particular about the length of time, but that maybe we should stick to the shorter side of 2-4 months, since 4 was a bit dragging. LAOS, I know you suggested having a break before the next MVC... I personally feel that whether I announce the deadline now or in a month from now, it's somewhat inconsequential, because we all know that the next one is coming and can start work on it whenever. I personally have started the storyboarding already and plan to continue working on it in the near future. I'm in the process of digesting the rest of the discussion. It is hard because I value your input and would like to honor everyone's ideas, but at the same time sometimes compromises must be made. So I need to think about this and then draw some conclusions about what to do.

Oh and Brandon, while poop is awesome and all, I'm not a big fan of chocolate... it's OK though, it's the thought that counts ,)
