  1. Awesome. Should we make it an OCR-based collab, or just a "regular" one? I'm guessing with your arrangement skills and my production knowledge (I graduated from audio engineering school this spring), we could probably make a killer remix. What VSTs do you usually use?

  2. First off, I love the arrangement. Props for that, it's really nice! I think the mix has a few issues, though. From where I'm sitting and the system I'm on--which, granted, isn't truly right for critical listening, though it's all I've got--I love the bass, although the song's a bit muddy. I think the mix in general is a little overcompressed, and some of the sounds could use a little re-leveling and re-EQing. To be specific: - The porta lead that comes in at about :45 or so could use a little bit of midrange taken out of it, it's a tad harsh. Also, could use some low-mid reduction, too. Actually, that goes for most of the song, so maybe that's just a master EQ thing. - That saw arp that starts to make itself known at 2:20 or so could use some toning down in the high-mids, too. I think a lot of issues would be solved with some low-mid re-EQing. Also, maybe changing that master compressor, too. It's pumping and sucking just a bit much in the wrong frequencies. Gotta let that awesome kick drum stand out! Like I said, though, I absolutely LOVE the arrangement! Would you be interested in collaborating in the future, by chance? Hit me up via PM if you are.
  3. Well, as per a post in the "Requests" forum, I've started work on a remix of the intro theme from Dark Cloud 2. Mind you, I've never played the game (although it looks quite cool), but I liked the theme. Here's what I've got so far: http://flexstylemusic.com/downloads/misc/dc2intrormx.mp3 This is a very rough mix so far. I've got a lot of the sounds I want (very deadmau5-esque is what I'm aiming for), but I'm not at all satisfied with the arrangement. Any suggestions for any part of the song would be appreciated! EDIT: Here's the source, if anyone cares for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_QNJT24Dnw EDIT2: Updated mix. http://flexstylemusic.com/downloads/misc/dc2intrormxb2.mp3 EDIT3: http://flexstylemusic.com/downloads/misc/dc2intrormxb3.mp3 New kick drum, more mastering, a bit of EQ on the mau5pluck, and some re-programming of drums/percussion. EDIT4: http://flexstylemusic.com/downloads/misc/dc2intrormxb4.mp3 Piano intro. A little more arrangement--just a little.
  4. I'm desperately wishing for $200 to come my way so I can upgrade from Logic 8, lol. Logic 9 looks tasty!
  5. Alright, I've started work on a deadmau5-esque rendition of the intro song. I really like the original, as per that YouTube video, so hopefully I'll finish this one. We'll see.
  6. Hm, you're right. That's a really nice sounding intro, there. Hmm, wonder if I can do anything with it....
  7. I'd agree with several commenters that this album doesn't stack up so well next to some of the previous OCR albums. Production quality (basically what I judge almost any song by--sorry, just a personal thing, I'm a trained mix engineer) is lacking on many (okay, most, in my personal opinion) of the tunes. That said, there are some absolute gems here that make it well worth the download--bLiNd is a genius.
  8. This has gotta be one of my favorite Sixto mixes, as well as one of my favorite rock tracks on the entire site! Top-notch work!
  9. Hey all, some might remember me from my last album, A Sense of Urgency, also plugged on this here forum once a long time ago. Well, I've gone and made another album, and I've decided to release it for free, too. The title of the album is "Elements of Creation," and it's an attempt to tell the story of the creation of the world with music. I'm one of those folks that believes that God created the world in six literal days, as documented in Genesis chapter 1 in the Bible. All that aside, it's an album of various electronica, from DnB to trance to ambient to down-tempo, and it may be found at the following links: Mediafire link Drop.io link Enjoy!
  10. Looks like I'm late onto the train, but major congratulations to you both! Two of my favorite artists from OCR and a darn good couple besides!
  11. No similarity at all, actually. Just a similar tune. Blind is a 1000x better producer than this guy is, obviously. See, the thing is, there are a lot of tracks which are, as you said, very high quality. However, there's a bunch of stuff in which the production mistakes are just so glaring that I'm not a hundred per cent sure they could be from the same person--although it IS definitely possible he's uploading old stuff too. Someone's skills CAN improve overnight (mine have on occasion) but this guy doesn't quite ring true.
  12. Quite honestly, almost all the people I've showed any OCRemixes to have loved them almost immediately. I'm rather selective of which mixes I show off (or even listen to, lol), but all the ones I show off get great responses.
  13. I really enjoy this sort of feel, sorta what's known as "Spacesynth." Cool stuff, I'm not on my monitor system so I can't comment on the mixing aspect but I like what I hear.
  14. Hmm, I don't know why the link isn't working. This URL works for me: http://www.mediafire.com/?z3yx7nzmt9j And why didn't I tag the MP3s? Oversight, lol.
  15. Actually, I believe the filesize limit is actually 6 megabytes. If you're at 4.X megabytes, you've got plenty of headroom.
  16. Heh, at the rate this is going you may be able to get your first win, Chicken!
  17. Yay! Bring in lots of entries, guys! Also, great work with that MIDI, Rexy!
  18. 0.o o.0 0.0 I WINZ??? Wow, thanks so much y'all! First contest win really means a lot to me. Rexy, I'll try to get ya a source tune soon here. I'm typing this from my laptop, as I'm outta town and don't have my main computer with me. However, I think I may have just the thing....
  19. Vote placed! Aaand I'm off for a few days, so hopefully I can get some internet access while I'm gone and be able to see how this all turns out.
  20. Aww jeez, even though I've only barely interacted with him I really like bLiNd, and I love his music! My prayers are DEFINITELY with him right now, especially if he's a brother in Christ.
  21. Man, I can't stop moving! I'm banging my head as i type this so my spellin si a little off i'm guseeeing.....AHHHHHHHHH.... And I actually have hair, so it's fun to wave it around too, lol. GREAT WORK GUYS!!!
  22. My entry is finished, but I've got a question--since it's rather long, and my upload is supposed to be under six megabytes, the audio quality (and hence the song) has suffered a good bit. Am I allowed to include a link to a higher quality download in my song description?
  23. Dunno if there's interest for this or not still, but here ya go. Just a quick lil' two hour job, remixing the title theme. Now that I've got the MIDI file (and learned the song ), I'm totally doing another remix of this piece sometime!
