  1. Yay! Bring in lots of entries, guys! Also, great work with that MIDI, Rexy!
  2. 0.o o.0 0.0 I WINZ??? Wow, thanks so much y'all! First contest win really means a lot to me. Rexy, I'll try to get ya a source tune soon here. I'm typing this from my laptop, as I'm outta town and don't have my main computer with me. However, I think I may have just the thing....
  3. Vote placed! Aaand I'm off for a few days, so hopefully I can get some internet access while I'm gone and be able to see how this all turns out.
  4. Aww jeez, even though I've only barely interacted with him I really like bLiNd, and I love his music! My prayers are DEFINITELY with him right now, especially if he's a brother in Christ.
  5. Man, I can't stop moving! I'm banging my head as i type this so my spellin si a little off i'm guseeeing.....AHHHHHHHHH.... And I actually have hair, so it's fun to wave it around too, lol. GREAT WORK GUYS!!!
  6. My entry is finished, but I've got a question--since it's rather long, and my upload is supposed to be under six megabytes, the audio quality (and hence the song) has suffered a good bit. Am I allowed to include a link to a higher quality download in my song description?
  7. Dunno if there's interest for this or not still, but here ya go. Just a quick lil' two hour job, remixing the title theme. Now that I've got the MIDI file (and learned the song ), I'm totally doing another remix of this piece sometime!
  8. Downloaded this, and loved every single track! Great job, and THANKS for making it available!
  9. One of the single best rock remixes I've heard on OCR, amazing work from all involved!
  10. I've recently released a collection of eight of my original songs, as well as two remixes--totaling 10 songs in all. This album, called "A Sense of Urgency," is available as a free download from this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?z3yx7nzmt9j Genres covered include trance, drum'n'bass, house, and down tempo. Hope everyone enjoys it!
  11. Heck YESH! This is probably my favorite song off of the VotL project--beating a couple of bLiNd's songs out by a hair, but still a win is a win. And this song is an EPIC WIN of a song--amazing beat work, amazing effects, amazing arrangement...have I said amazing enough times now? Seriously, this is one flawless song--and I've reached this conclusion over several months of listening to the project. Amazing job you guys, Intense Color and NSTATPL are probably both in my top-ten OCR songs.
  12. Hmm, well I've always loved music. Listened to it all the time as a little kid, and I was alway playing around on either my family's old Yamaha...I wanna say it was a TSR7? No idea, heh. And then of course my aunt's DX7 too. When I was 8 years old, my parents had me start taking violin lessons...I hated 'em, but they definitely gave me a great ear-training foundation. Actually, too good of an ear-training foundation since I never sight-read music. Which in turn has hurt my piano playing (started at age 13) a lot. I quit violin at 13 years old to focus on piano lessons, and informally on drums. [channels Yoda] Self-taught on drums I am! [/channels Yoda] I found computer-based mixing when I was 15, when my piano teacher showed me Acid Music Studio 6. Signed up for ACIDplanet.com, and found out about FL Studio, and I've basically gone from there. Especially with the help of Computer Music Magazine for a little while, and now I'm 17 years old and a month away from starting audio engineering school at the Conservatory for Recording Arts and Sciences here in Arizona. OCR has really helped my evolution as a producer, since there are so many diverse genres represented here! I think I first found out about OCR via an interview with Binster in...I wanna say CM? Dunno. Anyways there ya go.
  13. This song is probably still in my top-5 favorite OCRemixes of all time. I can't get enough of it!
  14. Extremely enjoyable listen. The production wasn't perhaps super-extra-tight, but that's probably a good thing in this case. Loved the synthwork, overall great job here!
  15. Oy, we'll see if I can get time for this one--if I do come through, expect a dreamy trance mix of it!
  16. I'm really enjoying this mix, great piano and drums playing by both the performers! Nice flow, this belongs on the radio lol. KJZZ or something, haha.
  17. It'd help if I spent more than four hours on making the track, y'think? Looking forward to the next time I can destroy - erm - compete against you all!
  18. Hmm, y'know what's odd...each time I've participated in a PRC, Rexy wins it! Strange.
  19. Congrats Rexy! Production values always win, it seems well plus having a well-arranged song doesn't hurt at all lol. Honestly I usually pay a LOT more attention to both my arrangement and my production, but what can you do in six hours? At least when you're used to spending more like a couple weeks on a mix, lol. This was a really fun PRC (only my second one but hey it's all cool), I'm looking forward to participating in more!
  20. Fear not, I'm rendering right now! EDIT: OK, it's uploaded for your listening pleasure
  21. "Sixto," "zircon," "Pendulum," and "surf rock" all had me expecting something spectacular, and whaddya know--the buzzwords came through! Very obviously influenced by Pendulum, but very zircon-ish too. Sixto's guitars are excellent as usual. It's rare I can find a song that I can't just nitpick at, but this song would probably be one of those "perfect-in-my-opinion" songs. Excellent job, this has gone straight onto my Juke.
  22. Working on an entry to this, hope I finish it in time!
  23. Something I've found very true over the years is after you've finished mixing your track, let it sit for at least a day. A few days is best. That way your ears have time to rest and freshen up, and the excitement of creating the track is at least somewhat past. After a few days, go back and listen to the render of your track, making notes of what needs to be fixed and there WILL be stuff. Then, go back and fix it. This process could go on indefinitely, so be judicious about it (hope that's the right use of that word, lol). Also useful during this process is posting it somewhere like the WIP forums here or just somewhere where you'll get lots of feedback on it. Revise it once or twice, then call it good and move on to the next thing. Hope that made sense.
