That still doesn't change the glaring fact thats the graphics look terrible, the char models are all horribly squished, and writing MEGA MAN with blocks is NOT good level design.
-
You're right, that theme was pretty fucking awesome, and it was sorely missed. I mean, which would you pick to fight that thing, this or ?The former may be professional, but when I think of that lovable melty face, I think first and foremost of the latter. Music in games plays an integral role in making us remembuh them.
-
To be honest, the graphics look BAD, like PSP quality. And the level design looks pretty blah.
-
I don't think it was bad at all, outside of a few odd scenes here and there (and a way-too long ending cutscene). Also, apparently, some fans I know are saying that there is proof that Ridley regenerates at a cellular level, so the Ridley that is in Other M (scraped from Samus' suit) is still the same Ridley.

The first pirate lore (and the manual) expressly state that the Zebesians, who WERE led by Mother Brain (and the 'mainstays of the pirate army, Ridley and Kraid), are on the frigate. The scan says (on Orpheon) "All ground personnel on Zebes are presumed dead. After the destruction of our facilities, only three frigates in orbit at the time of the attack managed to escape" Where the other 2 frigates are is a mystery, and it might mean some Metroids escaped Zebes, though I doubt it. The Tallon Metroids all died for sure in Corruption, because the destruction of Phaaze meant the annihilation of all Phazon-enhanced life-forms, INCLUDING the Metroids (whom the SPs were feeding Phazon). Also: I think the 3 years is supposed to be between Corruption and Metroid II. Either way, it's a really stupid claim to make. "Hey Samus don't kill those dangerous Metroids for 3 years please" Also, it's just REALLY hard to imagine in my head that THAT'S what the terror of Space, Ridley, looked like as a li'l baby. It's REALLY hard to accept.
-
And they always will. Metroids are not pets! That's the thing that's bugging me, plot-wise. General, but non plot-specific spoilers to follow: In the Prime games, and pretty much Super Metroid, the Space Pirates are these xenophobic beserker lords (to use an acquaintance's terminology) with delusions of grandeur and a highly malleable sense of bodily integrity. They were generally (and entertainingly) incompetent, very unsettling and goal-oriented, but more or less intelligent (and capable of snark, it seems!). In Other M, however, it shows that the pirates are much more feral, with little intelligence... even just animal-like could be a good descriptor. Ridley, the general he is in Zero Mission, Prime, and Super, also seems like more of an animal than anything (though in the course of the plot, this makes sense). The pirates you encounter, well, I don't get the feeling that they can do anything other than screech and shoot. And then you have the Pirates in Fusion... the manual says they were there on a raiding mission, but I think the events of Other M retcons that nice and pat. I mean, in the end, I really don't want the Prime games to just be written out of the whole story-line, because it offered (far better than the classic series) the best portrayals of the Chozo and Space Pirates yet. Also, the Space Pirates from Prime 1 are the Pirates who were NOT caught in the blast when the Mother Ship blew up in Zero Mission when Samus killed MechaRidley. The Pirates in Prime 2 are the remnants of THOSE remnants who escaped Samus' complete ass-whooping during her stint on Tallon IV. Prime 3...... Well, I'm not sure. They're not Zebesians. I think they're a different faction (possibly separatist) within the larger nomadic organization.

I really feel that Samus was only 'out-of-character' in one scene (by Sector 0.... UGH why did they cocktease us with that!!?!?). But really, she's not 'our' character, she's Sakamoto's (and Yokoi's) brainchild. Which means there was never any real Samus outside of how Sakamoto saw her, in a sense. That doesn't make that one scene any better, but I think there's less reason to complain than what's actually applicable. I just beat the game (the not-real ending), and tomorrow, I plan on finishing the fight, so to speak. I really enjoyed everything. SPOILERS Except for the final boss.... I just wanted to fight Mother Brain. Not listen to some whiny bitch talk about how humans are evil and how she has feelings. Fuck you, I DON'T care about you, MB. I just want to kill you. Also, I wish that guy at the end wore an I'M EVIL sign on him, because I had a hard time telling that he was evil, considering all the non-evil ways he acted. SPOILERS

I never played FFX but my older brother who did said that review is completely and 100% accurate. Now I'm having to weigh the options of doing my university homework tonight or playing more Metroid (and probably beating it)... Tough choices....
-
To be fair I think as the game progresses the story actually gets pretty interesting. The mystery surrounding the Bottle Ship certainly does, at any rate. I mean, a lot of what didn't make sense in Fusion now totally does, in a much more sinister light.
-
Oh boo, it's as fun as fuck. I think I'm in the end game now, cuz I got the Screw Attack and the Gravity suit, and they ALWAYS save the former for end-game ass-kickery. MAJOR SPOILERS I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to go to Sector 0 and fight MB and the no-freeze Metroids... Man, why cock-tease us like that, Sakamoto? Don't build up a confrontation with a reborn Mother Brain just to be like WOOPS NO LOL EDIT: Whoa, THAT'S hard mode? You know, Cave Story did that and it was as annoying as fuck. Hopefully it wouldn't be the case here....... Oh and Bleck in subsequent playthroughs you can skip cutscenes.

Now now, that's what i call a steal! Well, no, the steal was when I bought their previous offer for 2 bucks. : P -
I played for four and a half hours straight (ok, one 5 min break), and I'm really liking it. It's probably because of internet memes, but I can't help but laugh every time Higgs opens his mouth. The REMEMBUH ME thing just totally and comedically transformed my perception of him. The game plays great; and right after beating the lava boss, I can really dig the environments and bosses they've thrown at me thus far. The cutscenes are a mixed bag, and I think we all weren't thinking about Samus the way Sakamoto was thinking about Samus, but I can live with it, since in every other game there's just about all evidence to support that she's just as much an ass kicker as she is a... baby-lover? Already some things in the plot are starting to make the plot-holes in Fusion make a whole lot more sense (like namely: why were there Space Pirates on the BSL in Fusion?), and I really can't wait to see where things go. Don't wanna get spoiled! The ONLY thing that has really pissed me off are the Where's Waldo segments... I mean, I thought the reviews were exaggerating, but finding a tiny green blotch in the middle of a FIELD is a little taxing on the ol' gamer's spirit. I wish they would have play-tested that a bit more. I do NOT like those segments. The music is really good and profressionally made... I just wish they asked the guy who did the Macross, Monster, and Blue Gender anime soundtracks of ALL people to try to insert some more melodic flavor into things.

I have found that as the series has progressed (the classic series anyway) the Chozo have become less and less prominent and upfront in the Metroid mythos. Game's coming for me tomorrow... can't wait!

I have a feeling I'm really going to like this game when it finally arrives tomorrow.

I don't even think you need an interesting story for something like a Sonic game. Sonic 3 told a great story with minimal writing or cutscenes or ANYTHING really. And that story was as simple as "Robotnik is back taking Emeralds. Stop him." I'M TURRIBLY SORRY -

Looks like I didn't get the memo that said 'Go for sexy' DAMN IT -
So, if you worked with Nicalis, you have any idea when the bugs in the WiiWare port of Cave Story (most pressingly the music bugs) are going to be fixed, if at all? Also: nice music

You know, I've been drawing shitloads of concept art for about a month now (or whenever I first posted in this topic)... And then I move into my dorm after summer again, and after spending the whole day with old friends from last year, I remember "Oh shit I promised I'd do this." -
7s soundtrack (and the game in general) is way underrated, in my opinion. Burst Man, man. Just, Burst Man. And Wily 4 is really damn great (along with Wily 1, but not as much as the former).

Phew, thank goodness you live in California, or else I'd be out of time! Just finished coloring (with lovely pastelish Colored Pencils)... And just scanned it now. Though I too stand no chance of winning. EDIT: I did send a PM; but please tell me if you didn't get it (my sent items folder shows 0 messages). -
Change good games into your God-games

While we're at it, X6 without the total suckage and those god-awful donut fights. Yeah, that'd be pretty cool. Remember Blaze Heatnix? Remember how he DIDN'T have a stage, but instead, it was just a bunch of donut fights? On topic: -Super Metroid with Zero Mission controls would have made the game absolutely perfect. I am sure of it. -If God Hand had stable health pick-ups, instead of everything being random. Seriously, that is the one knock I have against Clover Studio's BEST game Game you couldn't take away from to make it more perfect: Final Fantasy V (GBA): This is really, for me, the perfect Final Fantasy. Silly, doesn't take itself too seriously, lots of fun, and the perfect gameplay. As Mutericator mentioned, SE today is INCAPABLE of making a game that is as CLOSE to how good the SNES FFs were, or even the wonderful throwback of FFIX. They just can't do it. Now they are going to remake the beloved Lufia series in their gay and retarded image now too, and my heart weeps a little. Another 'complete' game: -Donkey Kong Country 2. I mean, what more can you give that game that isn't already there? -

Why would he spend time doing anything else?

But you see, he's a man, so his balls don't burst into tears every time someone says something mean to him. Thus he wouldn't be bothered.
