  1. I don't actually do this, but I'd like to use FL Studio as a sequencer and then do all of my sound processing in Reason. If my computer could run FL Studio like it can run Notepad, then I'd just stick to FL Studio.
  2. I just had a disturbing mental image of a german troop from a WW2 shooter game getting a paint ball shot right into his mouth...
  3. Laser Tag, only because I am very biased against paint ball because I was shot in the side of the head where the mask didn't so very fortunately protect me. Turns out hiding behind a log for emergency reloading isn't a smart thing to do. xD
  4. Great mix, nice arrangement, mood, soundscape, etc. :50-1:04 1:18-2:58 4:08-end I like the beat, but the drums could be mastered a tad better. I don't know if the aggressive distorted esque bass drum in some parts was intentional, but in my opinion it would've worked better if it was cleaner. It also makes the cymbal crashes sound distorted and clippy.
  5. Anything bought within the last two years (sans netbooks) can run portal because my computer can and it's not as good as computers sold in that time period.
  6. I think people are starting to over estimate the system requirements of games like Portal. I can run Portal on 1.6 Ghz Single Core Celeron 1.5 GB RAm ATI radeon xpress 200 with decent FPS
  7. In the case of this remix, I believe the soundscape is way too much pushed up into the high range. There needs to be something down low, regardless of hi hat/tom placements in the frequency spectrum. The only thing I hear down there is a thick hit that sounds for maybe a single section of the remix, and of course the guitars.
  8. First, you need to understand how drums work. Unfortunately, I'm not going to explain for fear of someone coming in and telling me I have no idea what I am talking about HOWEVER... You should stop doing fancy stuff with your drums and understand what each drum sound is supposed to do. http://www.zirconstudios.com/tutorial1.php This is for how to make electronic drums, but there info on what a kick/snare/hi hat is supposed to do and also how to write good drumlines. You shouldn't have all your stuff in high pass filter... that, to me, is just (and I'm sorry for this) BLASPHEMY. Kick drums should be low Snares should be mid Hi Hats should be high I usually put toms in mid low.
  9. Your drums are a bit overcompressed and up and up in the high range. There needs to be a real kick drum, a kick drum should be low and bassy. Snares shouldn't be that thin in the upper range, this song calls for something more midrange and rock snare-ish. I love your guitar sound, if it sounds as good as you say it does with just a little effort, I can't wait to get Shreddage.
  10. lol I can't do funk when I try to. And it's a rhodes piano
  11. Something I forgot to mention. ^^^ They really subtract from the feel of the remix. I actually like this remix, just needs some production and instrumentation work.
  12. A bit too reverb, it gets too muddy. During the fast parts, piano needs more humanization. That weird voice/pad thing needs an EQ cut somewhere, there is a very bad frequency killing my ears. It's also a bit too loud. This basically needs some more balancing work, cut down on the reverb and work on making all parts audible (and none too loud). Synths are very generic in the dance section. Again, there's a sine wave there that needs some EQ work.
  13. Yeah I have to admit I thought he was married too. 0_0
  14. Doesn't really matter, they can post their criteria on this thread. It's better that the forums DON'T have 5+ something "What's a good sequencer for [criteria]?" That being said, I'm glad you're satisfied. Hopefully you get a good sequencer (FL Studio) that will (FL Studio) fit your (FL Studio) needs. This is not (FL Studio) subliminal (FL Studio) advertising.
  15. Basically what happens to me at school all the time. xD Getting married, huh? Good job.
  16. Guitars are really hard to emulate, especially leads. Your best bet for rhythm guitars is this bad boy, but that costs a lot of money (it's $50 but plus Kontakt 4 is like $300 something dollars) In this case, I'd recommend getting live guitars by actual guys who can play guitar. The lead is a bit flat and dry and quiet, it's not quite slicing through the music as it should be. The bass is a bit too loud, the lead guitar is a bit off rhythm in the second half part. Both tones of both guitars are unfortunately sounding very dry and stale.
  17. Hm... might be a hunch but are you using Gross Beat for those effects? It really sounds like it. Regardless of whether you used Gross Beat or actually took the time to make the these gating/scratch effects doesn't matter, but it gets a bit repetitive and annoying to listen to as intro. I think it would work better as a breakdown. Aside from that, I like it, the square lead could be turned down a bit. Not too much, it's just borderline above where it should be in terms of velocity and it's sorta standing alone, dry in front of everything else.
  18. I recommend for newbies looking for free DAW's and now I have something to do in study hall at school.
  19. Wasn't wrong, just talking about Mac's and Macbook Pro's.
