  1. I like the style. It's nice and cool. I don't know, I guess you could call this genre of music "Chill"? Hehe let's give the world a new genre called Chill music! (Not to be confused with chillout)
  2. It doesn't matter if it's a different time sig, it's OFF. 1, 2, *random place between 2 and 3 the melody starts*, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, *melody ends and starts again*, 4 It's not consistent and the melody is too slow for the tempo. Either you could speed up up the melody or slow the drum beat, and make the melody start ON the first beat of the measure. It's your choice, but at the current state it's just plain too contradictory to not notice. :\
  3. The Melody is totally going against the beat. Try aligning the melody better with the drumbeat. It's kind of an abrupt ending, you should definitely put something there. And also it's kind of short, so try putting in your own original "something something" (like a solo or something). It's the same aggressive thing most of the time, try making it so that one part sounds like this and the second part low and relaxing and then come back to high energy so it catches your interest.
  4. It's more like the EARLIER Darkesword's style.
  5. Too many synths with too much volume... It's crackling in my headphones because of those synths you're using. You might want to rethink you're sound choice (maybe instead of synths use instruments like piano, harp, woodwind, brass or strings.
  6. All right I'm sorry then. What else do you want me to say?
  7. I'm just saying. I'm not good with analogies and I didn't mean the remix to sound like spilled soda. :\ (Heck, I didn't even listen to it yet because I don't know the source track)
  8. That's not the point... he's calling it a collaboration when he's leaving it for somebody else finish... It's like spilling soda on the floor and leaving it for somebody else to clean it. Don't be lazy, finish the mix. Plus it'll sound bad because the style won't be consistent... it'll be one style for the first half and a completely different style for the second half.
  9. I checked the definition of Collboation: -act of working jointly Even if you have done this before, I'm not sure they're happy with it.
  10. You made a remix and you're too lazy to finish it. That's it. And sure it may be 50/50 but it's not a collaboration... It's like building a tower. You build half the tower, and let your friend build the rest BAM you go home you never see him again. You're not working together on the whole tower... you're doing half the tower on your own.
  11. I could be wrong but taking an unfinished remix and finishing it entirely on your own is not collaboration... That's being lazy.
  12. It's cool you're doing good man! First half sounds like Requiem of Dreams of whatever it's called.
  13. ... What I meant was the beginning sounded like Beat It.
  14. I don't like apples... but let's take a look see... Ha ha the beginning sounds like a Michael Jackson song... Yes this is good it's starting to pick up... good it's starting to have energy... a low energy pause than the main melody at a medium level... It feels like it's picking up:< Try using a different synth for the source material. And do me a favor and try not to go overboard with phasing/reverb on that one. :sleepzzz:
  15. I need Orchestration tips. Such as: What instruments should I emphasize more on What the structure should be Or just simply what instruments I NEED.
  16. What I mean is there's nothing drawing you in. I'm not saying this about your mix personally, but other terms would be: flat, boring, etc. It's too relaxing. But maybe you're right, after you upgrade your sounds it'll have energy.
  17. Most of it lacks energy. You need to have something to draw the listeners in (maybe cut some of the intro and paste it in the middle, it's too relaxing for an intro)
  18. Something is... off about this version. It's done well but still there is something very off about it.
  19. Nice, you finished it! I like all the effects and different instruments you added in. However except for the solo in the middle and the ending it is a LITTLE repetitive...
  20. Well James as the other guy just said They're not trying to discourage you. Solo set aside (don't flame me if this hurts your feelings as a composer): It's too close to the original, the lead is washed away so it can barely be heard, and it's slow so it doesn't have much energy. My brother Darkesword told me this: "You need to have development. Highs and lows. Lots of energy and then low energy." Tis what I've been trying to get into my head. It's hard, but it just takes a while. It'll turn out better, just give it time. It sounds good, so far. You've gone too far to give up on this, just keep going.
  21. It sounds a lot like the original at a slower pace, and then it turns into solo. What I say probably means nothing, but if it's gonna be a rock version of THIS song it should be a little faster.
