He signs up for two free classes and you assume he's trying to get a degree? >_>
-
Yeah, and for someone like me who has working experience with this stuff, it's a formal solidification of some stuff I already know, so the order in which he addresses topics won't screw me over or whatever. And I see the way he's trying to do it, he's doing processing audio before generating audio, which could make sense in a way. Easier to understand how synthesizers work when you already know how processing audio works.

I don't even understand why this is relevant. The whole point of open courseware is for learning material, not for an accredited degree. Grinds my gears when people imply that education is only for your resume and not for the self. Just signed up for: Developing Innovative Ideas for New Companies (Jan - Feb) Introduction to Digital Sound Design (Jan - Feb) Algorithms, Part 1 (Feb - March) Songwriting (March - April) Algorithms Part II (March - April) Creative Programming for Digital Media & Mobile Apps (June - July) Coding the Matrix: Linear Algebra through Computer Science Applications (June - August) Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (Date Un-Announced)

Genres of Music You Do
Nabeel Ansari replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Music Composition & Production
Fixed would imply it was written incorrectly, the plural "piano rolls" clearly suggests I am talking about the piano rolls of the everything I hate rather than the singular piano ROLL of FL studio. Sorry, but you started it. -

Right, working in other piano rolls = slow. -
As a rising programmer, I whole-heartedly applaud the father. Anyone who is bothered by this needs to

Hey guys, I bought Komplete a while back and realized I now have two licenses of Guitar Rig 5 Pro. I'm looking to sell my old one to someone. It's a Guitar Rig 4 Pro license and a Guitar Rig 5 Pro upgrade license tied together; in other words, you get a full Guitar Rig 5 Pro after activating both. I'm looking to sell (both together as one, obviously) for $79 or higher. Any takers?

I pencil it in the piano roll with my mouse; it's the fastest way I can write. That's why I hate everything other than FL Studio, because working in the piano rolls are like, as zircon puts it, "having my mouse dipped in molasses". -

Cinesynthethnijazz In other words, I like to draw influence primarily from EDM, Jazz, and Orchestral/Ethnic scores. My music could be one of or any combination of these, really. Sometimes it's other stuff too, but I think these categories really fit the bill for "what kind of musician" I am if you had to classify me. Currently, Darksiders II is one of my favorite soundtracks. It is synthetic but also has a very exotic, eastern component to its soundscape. This is compared to the first Darksiders soundtrack, which was very classical in nature. I found it a bit boring in comparison to the second. My tools are FL Studio 10, Komplete 8, and various freeware plug-ins/samples. That's really all I need, anything desired further is just fun toys and higher quality tools. ^.^ -
Same. I also hate you can't switch the minimap position.

Komplete 8 Ultimate vs. Komplete 8

Derp on me, good sir. And yeah, same exact situation. Spent $400 for Komplete over the grand scheme of things. -
Komplete 8 Ultimate vs. Komplete 8

Elements does not give you Kontakt. It gives you player with a few extra samples. If you want Kontakt, you have to buy Kontakt or Komplete. Kontakt does go for half-off though, and will actually do so in approximately 2-3 weeks. -
Komplete 8 Ultimate vs. Komplete 8
Nabeel Ansari replied to ectogemia's topic in Music Composition & Production
Komplete has never had a standalone sale. It HAS, however, had 50% off for UPGRADES and CROSSGRADES. Meaning if you own a previous version of Komplete or you had Kontakt like me, you could purchase Komplete at much less than normal upgrade price. -
Online Mastering for Free
Nabeel Ansari replied to SapSpecial's topic in Music Composition & Production
I'm not saying anything, just throwing that out there. No given examples and really bad posting mechanics; that's kinda shady if you ask me. I mean "no examples yet, but there will be. send me your stuff and ill get back to you."? It's pretty crystal clear he's never mastered anything before. He just said it himself. -
Online Mastering for Free
Nabeel Ansari replied to SapSpecial's topic in Music Composition & Production
Would be funny if this guy is just asking for unmastered (i.e. not publicly released/widely distributed) songs so that he can just take them and post them up as his own work on Newgrounds. Not that someone would ever do that. -
I want to build you a computer
Nabeel Ansari replied to prophetik music's topic in General Discussion
Laptop AMD's are atrocious. Hot and slow, but I was specifically talking about YOUR E-350, which is so ridiculously low end. Kyle is right, you can get decent AMD's if you look for them. They're cheap, but just incomparably low-spec relative to what Intel offers. A computer is an investment, if you're not gonna buy something ahead of its time you may as well burn your money. Simplified example: Buy ok $500 PC this year -> buy ok $500 PC 3 years later Buy great $900 PC this year -> still have it 3 years later Of course this is incredibly simplified and unrealistic, but that's a basic demonstration of why buy a high end machine. This doesn't even factor things like end user happiness either.
