  1. GMod's a fun little game. If you enjoy Legos, you'll like it. @ SirChadly: What happened to your computer? I think mine's fixed (meaning, the problem has gone away; I'm not sure what caused it). @ Brushfire: You missed good times as a Pyro then, mate. That weapon was frackin' busted: I got 50 points in one life from it, completely legitimately. FIFTY.
  2. @ Powerlord: When I was attempting to show that to Brushfire, the Valve wiki wouldn't come up. Dunno if it was Valve or just some less-than-great college internet voodoo...but there ya have it. (the link to the wiki is in said link I provided, also)
  3. Brushfire, lemme show you this link that explains Valve time: http://www.halflife2.net/wiki/index.php/Valve_time Also, for the 30 minutes I played with you guys before my computer exploded, it was fun.
  4. Just beat that Hunter practice map...took me a while, but I had nothing else to do so it's all good. If you're comfortable with the basics of walljumping, you should be able to do most of it. About 75 to 80% of the way through there's one helluva hard room...very tall, slants halfway up, with a door that has an overstretched top. Very difficult; the room I had the hardest time with (and spent the longest on). Very fun, though. Worth the time. Thanks for sharing, Nyuura.
  5. Thank you kindly...both o' ya.
  6. No way...Bill is definitely the best. All and all my favorite character. @ Nyuura: I have not seen that, but I'm downloading it now. Looks very interesting. But how would I go about making a single player game and just playing as a hunter? I actually found something out as a hunter last night: if you put your back up against the wall and jump straight up, while holding your 'S' key...you can continually walljump straight up if you keep clicking. Seriously. I haven't really looked into the application much (my internet...meh), but it did help me to get 2 25 damage pounces on 2 different survivors yesterday (on the same map, same round).
  7. Man, that certainly was quick. I wish you the best of luck and will be following the progress religiously. Praise be to Protoman. (Also, I'm kinda surprised there hasn't ever been a project for MM2 or 3...or I guess any of the MM games. What gives?)
  8. Brushfire, I hear ya. It seems like in general the L4D servers are worse off than TF2/CS servers...and I'm also on college internet that's wonky as hell. Double whammy. And what's this about Bill dodging forklifts?
  9. Cool, Brushfire. I think I need to order those....wonder why I haven't done that yet? And Damned, you don't have to stand in the hallway to fight everything that comes at you. You can get everyone to stand in the corner if ya want: it would take more than one person to defend the entire team. In a closet, the only time you need more than one guy is when a Smoker pulls someone...and assuming the other three people aren't making sandwiches or something, that smoker's pull never really goes anywhere. No one wants the Survivor's to be in an open field at all times, which is why Blood Harvest is much less popular than No Mercy. I'm pretty sure 99% of the people complaining about closeting would be completely happy if that ONE closet were removed; it just makes that event a little too easy. And I understand that the closet isn't a perfect defense as I imagine most people do, but you can't surely imagine that it's a bad defense, do you?
  10. Jeah, the achievements have messed up with me too: I've done Akimbo Assassin at least three times and to the best of my knowledge, I still haven't gotten it. And about the closeting thing: I understand it's the most valid tactic and I understand that, in a real life zombie apocolypse, everyone would crowd the closets. But the fact is that it's just ridiculous. I'm actually very interested in knowing how you guys are not having problems with it. A hunter might be able to get a swipe or two in before he dies (which I'm perfectly fine with), but the other zombies are just SOL. Sure, Smokers can try to pull one out...but they're likely all meleeing, meaning that he won't go too far. And a Boomer's bile won't do much of anything except extend the amount of time they're in there holding down the right mouse button. Maybe I'm just not as intelligent as you guys are, but I fail to see how this is anything but silly. Or, maybe I just play against smarter people. :-/ (Oh, and I think you're being a bit dramatic when you think that people who don't like closeting want the Survivor's 50 feet apart at all times; I have no problems with corners at all, because you have to cover more than the arc of your melee swing can cover. It's just not the same.) [Edit:] Also, that Doku mod looks very interesting. That's actually why I got on the boards to post at such an odd hour.
  11. Just hopped off. Really love the newest update. The closeting issue is still just that: an issue. But, eventually, Valve will fix it. It just might take 'em some time. Melee won't be as easy to spam anymore, which is great...but it's still so easy and so damn effective. Most people didn't know about the switching items thing, so it won't make much difference to most people, but it's still a nice fix against those who do use it. The tank-on-fire-health-bar thing is great, though. MUCH easier to understand what's going on without having to count to 40.
  12. Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the 360 (although it's fun on the Wii as well). Absolutely brainless beat-em-up (we did not read one line of text in the entire game and we beat it), but it's so amazingly fun. My roommate, my roommate from last year, and I picked it up and could not put it down until we beat it. We actually just restarted on hard mode. Really fun.
  13. Hooray, they buffed the smoker! I can enjoy playing him now! Although, to be fair, I did enjoy getting an epic smoker pull 'cause it was just so difficult to do against a team worth anything. [Edit:] Oh, and Garian, thanks for all that info about the server. Forgot to thank you when I posted last.
  14. Oh no, I know all about Valve time. Thing is, even in Valve time...'this week' is still just next week. So, it's still good news as far as I'm concerned.
  15. http://kotaku.com/5129878/left-4-dead-patch-out-this-week That's the link for the update thing being this week. It links to a Steam forum rep saying it for certain. And here's a random comic for everyone. http://www.fanboys-online.com/comics/20081201.jpg
  16. Brushfire, I'm going to have to ask for one too. Looks to cool an offer to pass up.
  17. I dunno if you guys heard, but the PC version is due for a patch this week. NOT anything new, just bug fixes and some exploits. I can dig up the link if anyone really wants me to, or could could take my word for it.
  18. L4D + my college = blue screens while I'm blue screening. No joke. I blue screened, and then that glitched...and then I blue screened. Took me a long time to fix my computer (and I'm still not willing to try L4D again)...but I think we're stable now. Sorry to Rawk Hawk, Baha, Edge, Garian...and whoever else was in there for bailing.
  19. I play on my laptop just fine. My laptop from like...over a year ago. Not even lowest settings either. Really, if your computer can run TF2, it can run this game about as well. I'm sure there's a way to make this sentence make more sense, but I cannot figure it out....it's late. If your computer runs TF2 well, L4D will be no problem. If your computer runs TF2 decently, L4D won't be a problem.
  20. Y'ever notice how all the server drama, or at least 95% of it, involves Atmuh? ....
  21. /sigh So outta the loop. And I'm convinced that Black Mesa Source is never going to come out, ever. It's been in production for damn near forever by this point...I think it's a race between it and Duke Nukem Forever.
  22. I'm not sure what you mean by a counter example, but it's not true that everyone feels that games need be spiffy looking to be good. Look at the whole retro-revival thing going down with Mega Man 9 and the remake of SF2. There was also that Bionic Commando game that was recently made, but I know nothing about that at all. Although I think you're post might have been being sarcastic or joking. In that case...please disregard everything I've said in this post (or all of them! I don't say much of anything useful anyways).
  23. People on the Xbox are used to Halo and Gears...not real, MANLY FPS games! /lifts weights
  24. Zephyr, as a recent convert to Audiosurf I can safely recommend it to you. It's MUCH better than I remembered it being. And I've never had any problem at all with my credit card and Steam...nor has anyone I know. Care to go into detail about the problem more? And I just got done playing TF2 for the first time in about a billion years and it was a lot of fun. L4D is too srs bizznass all the time...it was nice for a change in pace.
