  1. couldn't you just record a convo in skype? i haven't really used it, but even with aim or whatnot, you can hijack the audio and send it to a daw and i'm sure the quality would be good.
  2. yeah, i can understand that you need someone who is going to be dedicated full-time. I have already been telling others I will be there to play, so i hope that someone comes forward; but if you do need any secondary help, even short-notice stuff, let me know.
  3. no one's mentioned this but yoko kanno's 11th track on the new Macross Frontier bears a pretty similar sound as 'Pirates' as well. she's notorious for this, for those who don't know. http://www.imeem.com/jaclex/music/6PLslIY-/yoko_kanno/
  4. you can count on me to help out a bit. i've worked live sound before. let me know the time schedule. i don't want it to be all work when i am down there. i definitely want to play and mingle more. i'll probably be there on new years if thats the plan.
  5. this is like the make sure its plugged in step, but you do need to have to set up the audio card in whatever daw your in to output the sound to your card. but it sounds like you know that. it seems like its your speakers. you do have to take such considerations in as line level to make sure they are getting enough juice. your probably just overlooking something simple.
  6. i'm thinking of being there for new years eve. not sure. whats the plan? i know there is a jamspace thing going on that night. what is there all to do in washington?
  7. wow. amazing cello stuff here. the atmosphere is great and the percussion is top notch. it doesn't end as ominous as it begins - kinda uplifting in that last passage; so that's gotta be a good thing when your considering the game of doom. great work. too bad your so busy and we can't get more music from you.
  8. I think a saffire is a good choice for the price. they have pretty decent preamps and it comes bundled with software fx (eq, comp, verb, and an amp sim) that run off its dsp. http://www.zzounds.com/item--FOCSAFFIRELE
  9. how is it i have never heard of these guys until today? amazing http://www.imeem.com/people/ZizqMEv/music/j9yF1nQE/simplemente_los_mejores_bola_8/ http://www.imeem.com/vampiur/music/FobCn80_/diablo_swing_orchestra_zodiac_virtues/ http://www.imeem.com/impluo/music/gpZjfmZ3/diablo_swing_orchestra_balrog_boogie/
  10. i started with 1 and couldn't handle it so bumped it back to 2.
  11. upbeat, orchestral, electronic, and stealthy. i was trying to find something in the xenosaga ost's. this isn't exactly mgs but it might fit the bill. http://www.imeem.com/cren3856/music/oObjcKEZ/yuki_kajiura_chase/ and you could just go straight to the source. this is something you could really cut up and utilize all the parts for the routine. http://www.imeem.com/nomed89/music/4wx850YV/konami_metal_gear_solid_main_theme_metal_gear_solid_3_ver/
  12. i think these could work for you for the orchestral and electronic mgs thing http://www.imeem.com/lilfilipina/music/yNP7G5nV/ (a bit dark - but i think that's the style) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0Oc0GWsaQg (more flowing - instead of electronic you get percussion - but very stealthy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCuFtkhbU9I (this is the dramatic one - would be very cool) ______________________________________________________ here's your cutsy one (could there be anything better???) ______________________________________________________ and if you could accept some vocals - i would totally suggest this http://audio.isg.si/audiox/?q=node/24015 (i could see some craziness going on during this)
  13. even though it hurts your stats its supposed to absorb elementals. its important for to use as a strategy for one of the bonus end bosses. so keep 5 of em.
  14. berserk the dragon so he can't cast magic. cast blink, and then go for hold while your bashing it. it'll die eventually.
  15. that would be awesome. lets make it happen. get the whole creid thing happening. balto is a favorite of mine. need some violin and accordion. maybe we could even sneek some hiroki kikuta in there from soukaigi.
  16. i am all for mystic cave. i never really played toejam and earl so not as familiar with the tunes, but the grooves are great. i can just go from the bumpin ocr mix or let me know what which songs to check out. some thoughts. if your gonna have a tin whistle lets gets some more yasunori happening. kokoro form xenosaga and two wings from xenogears come to mind. female vocals in japanese would be nice too. oh well. and how about about home world from chrono cross. i know your pretty adept at acoustic. i would also love to do a version of onett. we'll have to talk on aim or irc.
  17. so i get that you guys have major vg bands play...but i figured that was separate from jamspace. i'm just not clear when you say open mic like there are other things going on with that room. signing up and saying what your gonna play sounds good to me. but i surely won't have material thats been rehearsed with a group...maybe's its different for others. i just was putting myself out there for people that wanted to get some songs worked out ahead of time and see what could happen at jamspace. i am kinda support (bass) so i can't really be citing or pushing specific songs or genres. this whole thing sounds like a lot of fun, and i know there are some serious players out there, so who's ever interested in putting something together count me in.
  18. i'll be bringing just my bass guitar. will keep it private. should we start taking requests and putting together groups? i'm down for playing with anyone who's serious - on another note...how long can i comfortably wait to to register and get a room with someone?
  19. it's right there on zzounds "PCI and PCIX compatible G5. (PCI Express not compatible)" http://www.zzounds.com/item--ECHGINA3G yeah, there's no way around this. i just found this out myself with the UAD cards.
  20. i'm not gonna expect much from hollywood until WETA gets going on Neon Genesis Evangelion and sets the bar. also, just curious, where did you feel that the bebop anime film lacked? its probably my favorate movie from an anime series...there are too many bad ones to count, heh. i admit it was departure than the original feel of the show, i enjoyed it thoroughly. i remeber it even playing in movie theaters...which is definetely a step forward for anime. but your right about the bar being high for bebop, and if hollywood, who has yet to put any successful adaptations of anime out, screws this up, they are going to alienate a lot of fans and probably going to give up on further adaptations. ie. Evangelion. it'll be interesting to see what becomes of this.
  21. i missed the scanner darkly connection, but this guy was also responsible for constantine...sooo...we'll just have to see. this makes more interested in what can come, but even that connection is a bit of a stretch to say that they can do bebop well. now if it was the wachowski brothers, i would feel like i was in good hands. we'll have to wait to see who the director is. but still a real life faye valentine sounds nice...found this http://www.firstshowing.net/img/faye-valentine-costume-vert.jpg
  22. +1 on m-audio bx8's my only gripe is i have no way of knowing that the left and right are balanced with a those terrible volume knobs on the back.i can't trust the markers. i use a sine wave with my ear. looks like you've made some good informed choices bahamut. make sure to keep your program drive clean of recording and use only your 750.
  23. the intro is awesome - keeper just for that the guitar when it enters with the palms should be tightened up a bit. the strings are a cool touch...but seem to fighting for a place in the mix with the guitars. if you can get more clarity out of them i think it would help the mix out, cause they have some of the most original parts. the balance with them and the rhythm guitars seems off. i would strive for a bit more contrast between your sections when the guitar lead comes in. lots of things you can do hear - instruments, tone, fx, rhythm. i really kinda want the drums to just go off into craziness at one point. and by the way, what are you using for drums? they sound great. keep working at it. i like your work. need more of it.
  24. monitors, in that price range, are kinda weird...they all sound a bit different. you should go in to a guitar center with a couple of your favorite jams (mostly music your interested in making) and play em on all the speakers your curious about. go with the one you feel most likely to mix to. reference monitors don't accentuate freq like other speakers, meaning they sound less flattering most of the time. so if a mix that you know and love sounds like poop on your speaker system then you have to mix your music to sound like that poop. makes sense? ha. a/b'ing (meaning checking back and forth) your mix to a source is usually the best way to go to start to understand this.
