LT Edit - Original decision: http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=53396 ReMix link: Contact Info Your ReMixer name: Abadoss Your real name: Kenneth Edward Keyn Your email address: Abadoss@yahoo.com Your website: http://www.warnerpacific.edu/personal/kkeyn/ Your userid (number, not name) on our forums: 2642 ReMix Info Name of game(s) ReMixed: Chrono Trigger Name of individual song(s) ReMixed: The Brink of Time, Guardia Millennial Fair Additional information: I started remixing this piece in February 2004, using Finale 2003. During that time, I sought the help of Jeremy Robson, who I, after hearing his Philharmonic Suite: Part I, had hoped would be able to master what I had started, since Finale's only output is MIDI. However, when I showed him, what I thought to be, my finished piece, he critiqued it and handed it back saying that I could still improve it. So, I went back, fixed what he said was wrong and tried again... and again, and again, etc. Nearly two years later, through the music department on campus, I gained access to Finale 2006, equiped with Garritan Personal Orchestra. After a great deal of reworking, regarding instrumentation and expression, - I'm hoping this is the last time I say this - I feel I have a finished piece. I must note though, if it weren't for the gracious consultation of Mr. Robson, I wouldn't have a complete piece. He kept challenging me to go back and make it better. Hopefully, it's at a level worth listening to. I chose "The Brink of Time" pretty much on a whim. I went over to vgmusic.com and picked out several MIDIs that I thought I might like to remix and that was one of them. However, I felt that I needed a little bit more, so I decided to couple it with a theme that I'd been wanting to do for a long time, "Guardia Millennial Fair". About six months in, I started hearing "Zelda's Lullaby," from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, in part of the cello line, so I tried to accent that a little and, later on, I gave it to the oboe, which quotes it in the second repeat of the initial A section. Speaking of sections, this entire piece fits under the form of Compound Ternary (|:A:|:B:|:A'). I originally considered it a Rondo (A|B|A'|B'|C|A"), since it had three statements of what I had first considered the A section, or a Sonata (|:A:|BA'), since my original ideas of the A and B sections fit better as the two themes of the Exposition (A) and C worked as the Development (, with the A' being the Recapitulation. However, as Ilook at it now, the theme of the Development ( actually repeats before going to the Recapitulation (A'), which makes it more practical to consider the piece in a Ternary form. The Compound end of it comes from the fact that each of the sections can be broken down intosmaller forms (A = AB|A'B' / B = CC'|D / A' = A"A"). And, yes, the title is a reference to the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The piece was written in Finale 2003 and mastered in Finale 2006 (with Garritan Personal Orchestra).

The first ReMix I ever wrote, "Red Spiders", was from Guardian Legend.... so I guess this is like a return to my roots. I have a strong personal attachment to this GAME where as with all of my other remixes, my attachment was primarily to the composers. Miyamo Shant [or Michael as I like to call him since his name phonetically in spanish means "my call"..... actually I'm pretty shocked that this isn't already his official nickname] is a decent composer, but I wouldn't study his stuff in the same way I do my other favorite composers. Guaridan Legend is a game that I absolutely adored as a child, so this source tune was chosen out of nostalgia since corridors 5, 6, 15, and 16 were my favorites corridors [and area 10 was my favorite area {red spiders}]. When I wrote this I had been listening to The Elastic Band's new album "momentum" and so everything I wrote came out sounding like this.... I couldn't help it, as a result I have my first real "Jazz" remix.... not counting that embarrasing little song over at VGMix.

Mixer Name: Joker Real Name: David L. Puga Email: Davejkr@prodigy.netNOSPAM userid: 16059 (I think) Song Title: The Corporate Office ReMix link: Game: Resident Evil 2 Orig Song: Secure Place Comments: Hiya. I made this mix because I've always liked the sanctuary theme in RE2. So I thought it would sound nice in a really dark ambientish style. The drums used to be moving around the sound spectrum but I decided to make them stationary. I also liked the more pronounced dry snare I had, so I kept it that way for no reason other than I liked it. The piano is sequenced, but I wanted it to sound realistic so I tweaked velocities as well as made some compositional changes, slight as they are. The rain at the beginning was my mom idea, & I think it worked out well. It's funny that this remix was inspired by "Room of Angel" from Silent Hill 4, but eh, what are you gonna do. Even if this doesn't pass, thanks for giving it a listen. Later lates, David

Some definite production issues but also some different, creative arrangement ideas as well... - djp Greetings! I'm here with a submission of a song that has just dragged on and on in the making - i'm glad its finally done. Richter from VGMix (and a few other game sites) contacted me ages ago about doing sax on a funk piece. Needless to say, after we decided to rework the whole thing, its not funk...its not jazz, its not whatever. It's just good music. Starts out with a piano intro on the theme, then goes to an almost funk-rock-ish section with some organ work and drums and stuff, then moving into a jazz/bop section for the end. All on robotnik's theme. Richter wrote the original song, played the original piano into the MIDI thing, did the synthesis on the whirly organ, and i did the rest. o Your ReMixer name: Richter o Your real name: Matt Hackett o Your email address: richter@paletteswap.com o Your website: http://www.paletteswap.com o Your userid (number, not name) on our forums: 6337 as for me - Your ReMixer name: The Prophet of Mephisto Your real name: Brad Burr Your email address: bradley.burr@houghton.edu Your website: http://thesaxprophet.tripod.com or www.soundclick.com/theprophetofmephisto Your userid - 16318 It's from Sonic 2. It's Robotnik's Theme. you've got all the other info on the site already. Thanks a lot for listening. You can get it from my soundclick site (link above) - go to the music page, and it's called Robeatnik L.I.E. thanks, ocr. THE PROPHET

Hey there ocremix, once again, i gave a try at a game remix. this time however it's not trance. It's a bit experimental is a slight way. I remixed the cave theme from Donkey Kong Country. I kept the same open echoey feel that a cave would have, but gave a slight taste in distortion ( the snare). i also have some great keyboard solos played on old skool square and saw synth to kinda give that electronic feel that supernintendo had. It's a bit shorter then i was hoping for. I was trying to shoot for about 5 minutes and get some more original stuff, and some more arranging, but my brain died at the last minute. 3 minutes is pretty good anyways. the volume is mixed a bit lower to have that cave feel, but also to keep it from killing someone's system. a subwoofer is highly recommended in hearing the bassdrum. turning it up is good too . lol now if a page comes up saying you have to be a member, just hit back and try again. the site does that from time to time enjoy, Brink ReMixer name - Brink-of-Time Real name - David C. The song i remixed is not from the Caves but from the Industrial Area, I haven't played the game in so long, so I wasn;t sure where it was from when i started the remix.

First submission to OC ReMix. -Contact info Remixer name: Fleg real name: Kjell Ivar Storstein mail: kjellstor@yahoo.no -Remix info Game remixed: Test Drive II: The Duel Song: Title Screen Here's a link to the original amiga music: http://exotica.fix.no/tunes/archive/Authors/Game/Hatlelid_Kris/Test_Drive_2.lha And here's the C64 music: http://exotica.fix.no/tunes/archive/C64Music/Hatlelid_Kris/Test_Drive_2_The_Duel.sid I played the amiga version back in the day, so that's really the one I was thinking of when I did the remix. But it can sometimes be a hassle to find a player for some amiga formats, that's why I also included a link for the C64 music. I remember being chased by the police and getting lots of speeding tickets in the game. That's why I named the mix just that: "Speeding Ticket". And now for the link: -Kjell S

URL: Remixer name: DJBren Game: "Tyrian" Title: "Tyramanis" Tracks: "Tyrian - The Level", "Camanis" My aim for this remix was to vary it a bit without veering too far from the original. It's an upbeat mix which can be described as a dance tune at times. I hope you enjoy it.

hello.. I submitted this in July, but djp said I violated site rules.. I'm sure I waited 3 weeks between submissions.. GRRRR.. it's okay! Yeah anyway, I had written a whole thing about how much I loved this soundtrack. I can't really remember everything I said.. but it was profound and stuff. I'm not going to try to compete with myself since I said it best the first time, however, I no longer have that submission e-mail. So I'll just say, should this song get accepted, it would be great if acknowledgement could be given to Soshiro Hokkai in some way since he wrote the original and NOT Michiru Yamane despite her contributions to the HOD soundtrack. Let's hope this submission e-mail works this time.

Hi, My remixer name is Ninja Flute. I am new to all this, its my first remix and its my first drum n bass tune, too. So feel free to give c riticism. This tune contain the Japanese voice samples taken from the film Advent Children. "Cloud: ...Evil Substance..." "Vincent: An Unwanted Gift From Heaven...JENOVA." "Reno: Mother, Mother, It's Only Jenova's Neck." "Kadaji: Mother!!!! Ahhhh.............!!!!" I think JENOVA is the evilest being in FF7 because its only desire is to devour the planet, and it has been messed up by all those Mako energy, etc. I used natrual instruments go with furtuistic crazy basslines cuz it reflects the world of FF7:- "There are too many ideas all randomly smashed together. One minute you are in a dark, cyberpunk world, the next you are riding on a giant chicken" Here's the link for download: If this link gets take off because of inactivity, please let me know. :peace:out

Need to look at arr. but this is pretty damn rockin' - djp User Name: BrainCells Real Name: Marcos Pascoli Game Covered: Shadow of the Ninja (NES) Song Name: Two Shadows Appear I always loved Shadow of the Ninja. The fast paced and so full of energy songs always were in my "arrange it" list. I had this arrangement almost ready when my studio was robbed a few months ago, so I had to redo everything from scratch when I put my equipment to work in a small room at the place I'm living right now. I chose to post this song on OCR rather than some of my previous material exactly because it's a very under represented game. I think it would be a good oportunity for the users around to go back and check this real hidden treasure for the NES! This is a heavy, guitar based arrangement, with some slow and some fast paced sections. Some synth leads were added to bring some variation to the mix (OMG the Dream Theater influence everywhere ), and I even ended up doing a guitar/synth lead duet in the end that is my favorite section. I was thinking in a way of hosting it somewhere retagged as the OCR rules ask, but I ended up linking it from the VGMix collection with Liontamer's permission, hope it's ok. Anyway, thank you guys for taking some time with the song, hope you all like it! Marcos

Hi! I'm Top Dollar, and here's my first submission to OC ReMix. Okay, now that I've been through id3.v2 tagging hell, let's get down to business Here we go: Contact Info: Remixer name: Top Dollar Real name: Markus Friebe My website: http://www.matrix-faq.com (not music-related) ReMix info: Remix name: Metroid Unleashed Game remixed: Super Metroid Songs remixed: Title, Intro, Crateria Surface (Galactic Hero theme) Comment about the mix: My first submission to OC ReMix is an orchestral take on the central themes from Super Metroid. This game has been my first VG music experience and still has a special place in my heart. Now that's what I call an original background story for a VG remix... Anyway, this is majorly the evolution of a concept I tried to realize with an earlier remix (which I consider a failure). The concept was to remix Metroid music into some kind of an audio trailer featuring dramatic orchestral arrangements. That earlier remix I mentioned is called "Threnody in Prime" and is available at VGMix.com: http://www.vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=3626. However, the basic concept is all the remixes still have in common. My intention was to take the listener to a sonic rollercoaster ride through the major themes from Super Metroid without making the several parts feel tacked onto another. I think that was also my greatest difficulty during the making: to generate transitions without playing the "orchestral build-up followed by clash" card too often. I also considered re-using the Phendrana Drifts theme for the finale as I am quite fond of the idea I used in "Threnody in Prime". However, considering that the major part of the remix featured music from Super Metroid, using the Intro theme was actually a no-brainer. Some time in the future, I may go back to that idea. Well, that's basically all I have to say. I really enjoyed making this remix and I hope it shows Until next time, Top Dollar
