  1. I believe that was the first post made on our new server, FYI
  2. I remember The Amateur being amusing; I like Hartley in general BUT I love Trust. Definitely recommend it, sort of his hallmark film. Really sad about Adrienne Shelly and the whole fake-suicide murder thing... I'm with you on the Lynch, not so much the Tarkovsky. Regarding Paris, Texas - I agree, really an amazing experience, BUT, a warning: you need to watch it uninterrupted, with zero distractions, and your full focus. Otherwise it's completely ruined, in my opinion. Actually, these are all a little artsy-fartsy, but the requirement was obscure, not necessarily non-mainstream. Allow me to recommend then one of my very favorite films and Albert Brooks' magnum opus, the highly underrated Defending Your Life. I do so love it.
  3. The point of ReMixing/arrangement is for artists to express themselves and their appreciation for VGM. Not to "make it sound better". We all have the "rights" to interpret things as we hear them. You seem to object to the entire concept of this website, in which case commenting on this album specifically makes little to no sense. If you didn't like it, you didn't like it, and that's fine. Just say that. Any further posts saying we "suck" and missing the point as completely as you seem to be will be interpreted as trolling and treated accordingly.
  4. Bastard. Anna and I were standing in the 9:30 club, MINUTES away from catching them, when some bad appetizers we had earlier at Gordon Biersch caught up with us, and we had to make a quick exit.
  5. I'll echo that one. Also, great music.
  6. Hal Hartley's Trust. Good luck finding it, and you probably won't like it, but to me it's a classic. Just showed it to Anna for the first time last night. Major bonus points to anyone here who's seen it.
  7. Actually, I'm serious when I say you should roll with this as the official art. Maybe if binjovi is up for doing a higher def version or something, that could be the album cover? I mean, if you definitely wanna stick with a more serious tone, that's fine, but I think this would get a LOT more eyes on the album, then when you hit 'em with the actual music, things could get a bit... classier. As in, not just about boobs. Being covered by vollleyballs. Seriously.
  8. This. Yes, we'll be exploring this shortly. And of course, also this. While zircon had more longevity, Fishy has still been an awesome addition to the panel and it's sad to see him go. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future his schedule will clear up and he might regain the gusto and manly machismo necessary to rejoin the panel, but either way give him the props he deserves for chipping in and making OCR a better place!
  9. Oh shit, you gots a ReMix gonna be posted...

  10. Both these mixes are working for me at the moment - can you confirm this is still an issue on your end? The files are definitely there...
  11. That's why I never play on expert...This is like a love-fest for those "Concerned Parents of America" type groups, because they can villainize video games AND rock music at the SAME TIME. Bonus. Irony points if "Don't Look Back in Anger" was playing at the time. Also, yeah... identifying Teddy Riley as "'Blackstreet' Singer" is like calling Paul McCartney "That guy from 'Wings'"... And, finally: I'm guessing his daughters did NOT like the way he was working it. That's it, I'm out. Also domestic violence is never funny. Except, in this instance, it kinda is.
  12. Before I forget and it becomes January: DAMN fine work, everyone involved!
  13. The end of an era! Obviously, a huge thanks to the Aversas - both of them - for their time spent on the judges panel. Hopefully Andy can remain active & involved with the site in other ways; his absence will certainly be felt.
  14. We're playing around with having data for non-OCR albums where relevant; since a lot of mixes that get submitted are from albums, etc., it makes sense to be able to contextually display related albums. Deus Ex was added back when we interviewed Mr. Brandon, just for testing purposes, mostly.
  15. How time flies! I prefer "Children of the Children of the Monkey Machine" though... congrats!
  16. You do know it's a cover of Fountains of Wayne, right? Just checkin' - it's a damn good one, no doubt. I love the sound of the Double Ice Backfire cover; sounds like a modern day track by The Cars, who I love. Great stuff... I do think the credit to the original artists/tracks should be a bit more visible, but hot stuff either way.
