I think it's partially that I'm not as familiar with Drill Man's theme. It's not quite as "iconic" or recognizable as Jewel Man's theme. I went back and listened to the source a few more times and I can hear it better now. The original theme is a lot faster paced so, that could be why, since yours is slowed down quite a bit. The only sample I didn't like as much was the bass-ish part that comes in at 1:27-1:35. It's not terrible, just a bit muddy. I would've went with something a bit punchier or crisper, personally. It, or some variation, comes in again at 1:47-2:01. Again it's not bad, the sound of that particular synth is just a bit muddy. I think a hard hitting, crisp bass synth would be spectacular there. Something with more definition, more ooomph. Now that I'm listening to it again, I hear it at 0:35 - 0:49 as well. Overall I like it though. Nice work.

Nice, some more mixes! chroxic - I like some of the effects you had going on with the main melody, it seemed to fit the style you were going for well. The track overall sounds pretty muddy though, the bass and the drums are a little overpowering and aren't distinct enough in parts. Also I'd take a look at the key signature. When you switch inbetween the two themes, you seemed to have kept each in their original key, which in turn doesn't mesh well with the background instruments. Fix that up and you'll be on to something. zach72 - This is pretty slick actually. I like the groove of the main synth starting it out. Yeah some of the background instruments could use some polish (some of the samples are a little questionable), but overall I think it's a great start. I didn't hear a whole lot of Drill Man in there, but maybe you used it as more of a background piece, I couldn't really tell. Nice work though!

OCR02304 - Mega Man 9 "Byte Blocks"

Nice work from Sir_NutS! His stuff from the GRMRB 2011 was awesome as well, hopefully we'll see some of that posted here in the future! -
There's definitely some promise here. I've always been a fan of Klepacki and his C&C music. I like the style and the fast paced feeling you have going so far. The low end in your track sounds rather muddy however. At first I thought it might be the placeholder guitar track (which does sound muddy), so I listened to the no guitar version, but I hear it there too. I'd look at a crisper, punchier bass, something to highlight those low ends. Good luck with finding a guitar player! There are plenty of good ones here, hopefully one can help you out!

I interpreted this line to read: "It's true this album kicks the living shit out of all the others on OCR". Nah, seriously though, the quality of the albums OCR has been producing lately is amazing. We've got so many talented people in the community, it's great.

That's what I like to hear Jade

@Geeky Stoner: if our Robot Masters were really battling, you would have the advantage, as Quick Man is weak against Flash Man's Time Stopper. But who will win the musical battle?

OCR02302 - The Binding of Isaac "The Clubbing of Isaac"

Wow great stuff here from BGC. Obviously I've never heard the original soundtrack (although I'm probably going to go check it out now), but it doesn't matter, this is some good stuff. I completely digged BGC's Impostor Nostalgia and this track does not disappoint either. He just keeps coming out with consistently great stuff. Keep it up! -
I've actually got a pretty decent start on this, kinda surprising myself. There were about 3 different directions I could have taken my mix, but I think you guys are gonna like it.
-
Hey Jade, do you have an arrangement for the album to be released on 12/20/11 to coincide with the the 15 year anniversary of Wild Arms, or was that just more of a hope? Cause if a project of this scope hasn't went into eval yet and with the length of the album queue, I don't see how it will still be released this year.

OCR02299 - One Must Fall 2097 "One Must Rise 2011"

I've never played this game before (and thus have never heard the music), but I really like what I'm hearing. Good "classic" electro/trance stuff here! -
finished Mega Man 7 - Shade Man (remake/cover *old*)
SuperiorX posted a topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Hey everyone, so I was going through some OLD stuff on my external hard drive today and I found an old remix of mine, it's Shade Man's theme from Mega Man 7 (one of the coolest, most under-appreciated robot master themes IMO). Anyway, figured I'd post it here for anyone who cares to take a listen. It's not amazing or anything, in fact it's more of a remake/cover as there isn't a whole lot of original interpretation, but I like it nonetheless. It's one of the first mixes I had made and I'd completely forgot about it up to this point. I was going for kind of a creepy vibe with the track, a lot of piano, atmospheric noises, and some interesting tin-box type filters. Modified date on the file says 9/5/2004, so it's an oldie. It's not up to today's standards, but I'm curious, if I had subbed this thing back in 2004 do you guys think it'd have been posted? I can't remember why I never did, I'd known about OCR at the time. Anyway enough rambling, here's the link: http://www.box.net/shared/zs64poaglsncoxuovr39 -

JM makes the smoothest, sexiest music ever. -
I hadn't thought of it that way until you pointed it out. Their rationale is probably something along the lines of "well, we're giving you publicity on a major game title, which is priceless in furthering your career in an industry that is very difficult to get started in". Doesn't make it right, but that's probably how they see it.
-
Ok cool. Now hopefully I can work up something respectable. I've got a couple of nice concepts in my head, but I always struggle with getting my ideas to sound as good as I envisioned.
-
yeah I was thinking like at least two weeks, closer to a month. We'll see what we come up with. I don't think it really matters the timing of when we each finish.
-
If I were a mod, I'd say this is awesome
-
Sounds good worthy challenger. What kind of time frame are you thinking? Like I've said earlier, I don't have a whole lot of time to commit to this, so I'll most likely need at least a couple of weeks. Is that ok?
-
Yeah I know these things take time, and it's not like anyone is getting paid to create/evaluate these things, so we don't really have any room to complain. I just meant it would be nice if there was a fluid thread that listed the album queue as it stood at that time, with an expected release window (a few months give or take?). It's not like I would get mad and rage over a release date being "missed", but I could see where some people might get upset... I just want to know what's coming up down the line
-
That's sad, with it being 100% done and all it'd be nice to hear it before next year. Oh well. I wish we had a thread though that had a rough timeline for the album queue, so we have an idea of what's coming up next.
