  1. Ok everybody, here's my song: Witness My Quickness (Quick Man vs. Flash Man) I know it's not perfect, but I like what I have here, it's pretty solid. The two themes actually blended together nicely so I ended up layering parts of each theme on top of each other throughout the song. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!
  2. I did, but you said the other team members could help with production, playing instruments, etc. So I was just wondering what the best/easiest way is to collaborate with other remixers, if I wanted help with production.
  3. Alrighty. That sounds good. I hope your Dad's okay!
  4. Ok, I think these will be my picks: 1. Needle Man 2. Dive Man 3. Top Man 4. Metal Man 5. Burst Man Anyone interested in joining a team? PM me if you want to discuss. I've never collaborated with anyone before so I'm a little unsure as to the best way to do this. Do people find it easier if everyone uses the same software to exchange project files (but then I guess that also means everyone needs to have the same plugins and VSTs)? Or just offer suggestions? Or is there a better way, just curious?
  5. I'm putting the finished touches (for now) on my song this evening, so I should be ready to post tonight or tomorrow. Geeky Stoner, have you made any progress? I can post when I'm done if you're close, or wait longer if you guys prefer. Just let me know.
  6. So it says our Robot Masters must be picked by Saturday, October 22nd. Does that mean the competition will be starting the week of the 23rd, or will it be the week after? I'll be out of town a few days the week of Oct. 23, so I'm just thinking logistics. Thanks Darke.
  7. Oh this sounds absolutely fantastic Darke. I'm free this time, so I will definitely participate. I'll post my Robot Master choices when I get home from work. Anyone want to team up?
  8. Yeah, when I heard Mega Ran, I was like "aww, this shit is legit". Great track by the way! The whole album is top-notch. I'm not familiar with the game or soundtrack at all, so I had no expectations going in. Really top quality songs all around. Great job to everyone!
  9. FINALLY THIS MIX IS POSTED! This is a fantastic mix from every aspect. Great instrumentals, great production, great arrangement. In fact I've had this thing on my playlist for years and it seems like it has been listed on the "To Be Posted" mix list for just as long. Really really great stuff from Vurez. I'd say this has to be my favorite mix of his ever, although his track from the MM9 album is really great as well.
  10. Yay! Double yay! I can't wait for this thing, great job getting everything put together everyone!
  11. Yeah, it's hard to say given the track length and the absence of the drums altogether in parts like you mentioned.
  12. I think I'm almost done with my song. It's not perfect by any means, but it's a pretty fun mix (in my opinion) and I'm not sure how much else I can do with it for now. I'll probably fix it up some more after I get some feedback. I'll wait to post until closer to when Geeky Stoner is ready.
  13. Drums kick in at 0:26. Little break at 0:31-0:33. Break at 0:38 to transition. Another break at 0:52. Break at 1:18-1:20. Drums stop at 1:46. Roll build up from 1:52 - 1:58. Drums stop again at 2:26. Every section inbetween the breaks seems to follow the same 4 beat pattern, with a small break or stutter effect every 4 or 8 measures. It's not bad, I just meant it sounds a little repetitive after awhile. If the the loop was an 8 beat pattern instead of the 4 beat repeating pattern, or something with a bit more variation, it might help out. I actually think the drums are a little too loud at parts too, but that's my personal opinion given the style of the track. I'm not quite sure what else you could do either. Layering might just end up cluttering the atmosphere of the piece. It's a really fun song though, nonetheless.
  14. I really liked the atmospheric string and piano intro section, it really set the mood. The synth that came in around 0:42 took me by surprise a bit, but I really like the way it sounds. The transition section at 1:48 sounds great too. I think it does capture that spooky Halloween feel that you described quite nicely. Overall, I really like it. I'm not sure it's quite ready for submission though. It sounds like it could use a little more polish. And the drum loops feel pretty repetitive too, it seems like those could be sequenced a bit better, or just add in some more variation. Great job overall though! EDIT: and oh yeah I love the title. Clever & witty.
  15. I like it! Seems a lot like the style of your tracks from the GRMRB, which I liked a lot. It seemed to lose a bit of steam at the end, but nothing too detrimental.
  16. I don't know if anyone already mentioned this, but Gustav Holst's orchestral suite The Planets is quite good.
  17. Look at what happens when you combine Kyle's quotes on this topic:
  18. Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah I messed around with that transition section as a way to break up some of the monotony, but I didn't vary the tempo much until the end. Unfortunately, it's not going to be worked on further though. It is what it is. The thing is so old I don't even have the project files for it anymore. Plus it'd need a major overhaul to pass the panel, as it is now the arrangement isn't up the standards. I like it for what it is though and it's nice someone else does too haha.
  19. Yeah take your time, no rush. I had a few weeknights of free-time and inspiration, so I'm just farther along than anticipated.
  20. Oh, and you shouldn't leave concrete unmixed, who knows what might happen
  21. Damn, that's funky as hell Gario. It's a shame you don't want to finish it, it sounds promising. I love the time sig.
  22. As for an update on my mix: I have a pretty strong foundation/structure in place. I just need to record over some MIDI placeholders I have right now and then go through and polish everything up. For being the one who was complaining about taking forever to work on this, I've gotten a surprising amount done in little time. I'll probably still want it to sit at least a week or two while I tweak/re-record stuff. How's yours coming GeekyStoner?
