Wow, the flutes with those voices together with the guitars and bass sounded neat. I'm all for the atmosphere of this one and some of the productions effects used. Taking some of that ethnic flavor and combining it with the modern sound, pretty good deal.

OCR03090 - Sonic the Hedgehog "Ocean View"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Man, if this came out of my television speakers instead of the original Labyrinth Zone theme, I may not have wanted to throw the tv out of the window while trying to make it through that zone the first time I played Sonic. It's calming and gorgeous and I could really picture a skyline meeting a vast ocean on the beach while this plays. I think I can agree when everyone said that this was a take on Labyrinth Zone we all needed to hear. This is aces, guys. -
This freaking rocks guys! Wow, lots of upbeat energy and great progression throughout the length of the mix. The production is incredible and this mix just feels great. Really hard not to enjoy something so damn happy and powerful. Seriously, this is outstanding work and going right on my playlist for sure.

OCR03088 - EarthBound "Nocturne for Paula"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Stunning solo-piano playing. I pretty much agree with Nutritious, taking it slow at the start and building it up was an awesome choice and I love how this glides to a slow end. That's beautiful. Great first mixpost, fella! -
OCR03087 - Star Ocean: The Second Story "This Love, Our Love"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love how this works for both the wedding and co-op play themes turned into a romantic "need you" story in the lyrics. That's a pretty emotional and clever idea and I'm all for it. Excellent work with the production and I personally don't have anything to nitpick at with the auto-tune or vocals for the most part because they are done in a way that fixes rather than causes problems to me. -
OCR03086 - Dark Souls "The Fall of Artorias"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This has a royal medieval darkness about it that I would expect from sources called "Knight Artorias" and "Gwynevere", and it's backed up more so by the bells and the choir, which sounds amazing for this arrangement. -
OCR03085 - Kirby Super Star "Kirb Your Enthusiasm"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I think this is my favorite Halc and Brandon collab so far. The chips of halc and Strader's guitar just work so well together in this ReMix, and considering how the source sounded compared to the rest of Kirby's soundtrack, I don't think I've have it any other way than the way these two presented it. -
OCR03084 - Mega Man Zero 3 "Frosty Wilderness"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Loved this on the OCR Christmas album, and I still love it now. I like the direction you took with this source. A lot of people would expect to just rock out with it in the same vain as the original, so it's cool to hear someone try to take it down a new path and transform it into something sweet. Awesome stuff, Timaeus. -
OCR03083 - Final Fantasy VI "Day of Ruin"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Uh-huh. Well, that was different. But I liked it. The gritty staccato beats with the main melody playing over it sounded well done for the genre it was in and things seemed to evolve as the mix went on in terms of the background moodscape. Not a huge fan of the speed-up either and it could have been trimmed a bit, but honestly there was nothing in this ReMix that made me lose interest or not like it. Unique, different and coherent even when getting a bit crazier. Good debut I would say. Nice work. -
OCR03082 - Final Fantasy IV & XII "Edward Penelo's Waltz"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I have always thought Edward's harp theme was beautiful and had a great melody, so taking it and combining it with Penelo's theme for such a gorgeous waltz was terrific to listen to. So much grace and elegance coming out, and the themes play off each other so well. Awesome orchestral ReMix. -
OCR03080 - Flimbo's Quest "Pearly Gates"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Whoa, pure sugar rush incoming! So happy and fun, this is a feel good mix that just does not let up, and I like things like this every now and then. The retro sound coming off of this does remind me of halc's brand of chippyness, and the melody is something that I would expect from something called Flimbo's Quest would have, but damn, it's just so happy I can't resist smiling at it. -
OCR03079 - Seiken Densetsu 3 "Dragonfireplace"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Wow, those synths are putting in the overtime work here. Lots of grit and warping, but it fits with the rest of the electronica in this mix, and the main melody still comes through, so that great. Sweet beat and it continues to change and grow or go in a new direction with each passing second. Awesome. -
OCR03078 - Street Fighter II "Guile's Theme Goes with Metal"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Sounds amazing, guys. Lots of nostalgic vibes from the opening and ending of the mix, but enough originality and personalization in the middle to keep it fresh for OCR. Also liked the voice clips added in. Short and sweet, very cool. -
OCR03077 - Gunstar Heroes "Boiling Point"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Yeah! A get up and go ReMix for sure! This has an insane level of busyness in it and I can see how this might drive some folks crazy, but never letting up while keeping it in line and not delving into pure chaos and psychotics is a pretty good feat. This gets wild as hell, but makes sense. Nicely done. -
That beat really gets the blood pumping and has enough of an edge to bring about some feelings of action taking place. That hard guitar riff is awesome and I'm enjoying the mellow piano section as well. Fantastic break from the rest of the mix. Really is set up and written like something I would expect on a fighting game stage.

OCR03075 - Guilty Gear Xrd "May the Stars Light Your Way"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Neat intro. Really digging the mood set with those synths and guitars making it such an upbeat and lively ReMix. Wonderfully warm and uplifting in spirit. Damn good work Ivan. -
OCR03072 - Super Smash Bros. "Chillin' with the Bros."
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Smooth music with a bit of a pulse. Now that's my kind of chill. I think this is the kind of chill that is more likely to make you feel cool than relax you enough for a nap, but either way, this is the perfect kind of easy-going ReMix for the very start of a wind-down. So nice and smooth, love it. -
Ah, yes, DnB with a vibe that could be traced to Pendulum. Well, I'm already sold. Then throw out there that TGH was the one that did it and with a source from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and hell, the enjoyment factor is a foregone conclusion. Let's face it, he ReMixed it, he nailed it, and he's going home with it. The production sounds great and I love the feel of this arrangement. Great job.

OCR03068 - Super Smash Bros. Melee "S-Tier"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This ReMix has all the hype you could want for an incredible battle. Love hearing it kick into a higher gear after that 3, 2, 1, GO! voice clip. Love the synth work, the progression of the mix, there is just so much to like about this one. Fine work by you gentlemen. -
OCR03070 - Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES) "Mountain's Wind"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Any sort of repetition was drowned out of my mind by the terrific work in taking this source and turning it into a DnB jam. And that section with the original guitar at 2:11, damn, loving that. The beat, the energy, the recognizably of the source and the ability to make it something cool, all there. Judges may have been split, but I would have to say all the positives outweighed any negatives in the writing or production for me. Great stuff, man. -
For the ones I've been able to play as, I love Miles Edgeworth. But out of all the characters with the attorney title, Simon Blackquill became my favorite attorney to fight against.
