Best news yet: David Wise to score another DKC game!
liquid wind replied to DarkSim's topic in General Discussion
I wasn't that excited about this game and then this hype get -
WFTrainer is definitely hilarious After watching more I'm less enthusiastic about Mega Man, he appears to be built entirely on projectiles with almost no CQC game, it's like Toon Link on steroids Skyward Sword stage and SS Link are nice, I love that games art style so I hope to see a lot of it in this game

Mega Man hype New Battlefield is hype Tripping not yet confirmed, cautiously optimistic

Ah I still feel like the creepyness of Microsoft always watching you and physical discs not being treated as property are bigger deal breakers, maybe just me though

$500 is right around where I would've expected it to have been, the console looks completely unappealing for many other reasons and truth be told I don't think I'd pay $5 for one, but I don't see the price being the downfall of it compared with everything else. Wasn't the 360 around the same price in 2005?
-
Truth. The other side of this is that people don't really think about how things can adversely affect them in general, they consider consequences after the fact.

Microsoft says that the kinect isn't data mining if you don't want it to, sounds legit I wonder if Verizon's contracts also had a similar privacy statement

This isn't a microsoft thing, this is where our whole society is going. People have already proven that they are perfectly willing to be spied on if there is enough social pressure to accept it. Doesn't the Wii U controller also have a camera in it? We also have wonderfully invasive innovations like facebook and the iphone. Nothing new, in the coming years it's going to be an increasingly safe assumption that you are always being watched.

No BC + used game fee makes me feel pretty meh about this, especially where most of my 360 games are third party/multiplatform to begin with so I don't feel like I'm missing out on much by not buying the next MS console.

trackers are actually really simple once you get past the initial intimidation! that said you can definitely make music with the flavor of chiptunes in whatever DAW you already use. if you aren't actually making a nsf file or whatever you can just emulate the sound through other means like samples or VSTs.

Fair use ahahaha hehheh hoohoo what an archaic notion

Why is REAPER not in the DAW skills list?
liquid wind replied to LuketheXjesse's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
Not even that rare in the game community either, modplug and renoise at least should definitely on the list IMO "Other(fill in):" option is a good idea, probably unreasonable to add all music software out there to the list -
OCR Mascots: Class of Spring 2013 - Voting Closed

I was kind of on the fence about it to begin with but I'll second ecto's objection to the speed bonus, even though it definitely benefits me(I've done O/2HC's pretty consistently for years, even on a busy day I can make something even if it isn't necessarily good). I could be PMing you an entry right now but like I said, I wanted to take a few cracks at this or maybe actually spend some time on it and refine things, and it's not worth having people drop out over it IMO

The DAW daily technique - is this even a thing?
liquid wind replied to ShadTK's topic in Music Composition & Production
A lot of OCR people participate in a weekly one hour compo at thasauce, the listening party is always fun and you can get some good feedback from it too http://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/OHC -
The DAW daily technique - is this even a thing?
liquid wind replied to ShadTK's topic in Music Composition & Production
- As others have said, do OHC, ensures that you make something at least once a week and it gets you focused on efficiency. On the other days of the week you can study keyboard shortcuts and analyze your workflow - Try remaking existing songs - Collect source files like crazy and listen to a lot of music in your DAW, play around with it some too. This is easier for some programs than others, userbases differ and some DAWs may lend themselves to sharing project files more than others... - Run with any little idea that you have, no matter how bad you think it is, you can always delete the project after but it keeps you in practice Basically try to compose and study as much as you can. As far as simply repetitively drilling technique, keyboard shortcuts and such, I've never really tried that. Usually when I find new shortcuts I'll just try it a few times to get it internalized. I also keep documents on my most useful shortcuts in FL and renoise but I rarely have to consult them, if you're working with the software daily then it's not hard to remember what you're doing
