Super Mario RPG: Window to the Stars - History

Hence the term "ReMix", this site isn't just higher quality covers of game music, the whole point is to take it in new directions Like halc said, how can you be pissing on music that hasn't even been made? If you already have that expectation it just predisposes you to disliking it, you'll enjoy it more if you don't go out of your way looking for things to hate -

OCRA-0038 - Milky Way Wishes: A Kirby Super Star Tribute

We all love us some nostalgia and OCR won't accept straight up chiptunes The question is really why didn't it become more popular sooner -
OCRA-0038 - Milky Way Wishes: A Kirby Super Star Tribute

Good to see this amazing album finally out! Been on a huge chiptuneish kick as of late too so great timing with how many tracks employ that style, I love it! -
Tropes vs. Women / #GamerGate Conspiracies

I think the Nintendo examples are easy enough to change, Peach has already been not helpless before in a few games(my favorite character in SMB2, floating!). A game where Mario gets kidnapped and Peach has to save him isn't farfetched in that series' canon. LoZ is defined by a rather rigid formula these days but even if changing Zelda herself significantly were deemed too much, the series has had stronger female characters like Midna and Impa. I think giving players the option to change Link's gender would also be reasonable considering that the entire purpose of his character is to be a proxy(or at least was originally) -
DDRKirby(ISQ)'s FL Studio Tutorials
liquid wind replied to DDRKirby(ISQ)'s topic in Music Composition & Production
Great tutorials, especially liked the 3xosc vid. I use it sometimes for simple chiptuneish stuff but I haven't really played with the fat mode/stereo phase in a long time, I will fix that starting tomorrow night -

Same thing happened with the PS3(another nail in the coffin), that's just what's going to happen when you release expensive consoles with no software. The U will do better in the future but for now people are going to say those things The answer to this is Metroid obviously, it's been six years! (too bad Metroid is a cult franchise, not a system seller)

Forgot about it in my earlier post because it's a mod I haven't played, but I love Neotokyo's soundtrack

It's changed in the past generation but that's still a short period of time for those of us who've been gaming our entire lives. DJP did allude to the line between consoles and PCs being blurred as of late, I'm just not sure that this trend is a good thing for consoles.
-
I think Valve is given a free pass by many people because there's a higher trust level and because they make it advantageous to their customers(sales). MS and Sony have a completely different reputation that immediately makes people suspicious when they try to do something like this And I also think there's something to the PC just being a different platform and there are different expectations. We're kind of accustomed to jumping through hoops for no good reason on PC's, consoles were always simple things where you just popped a cartridge in and played
-
Sounds like a bad rumor to me, even MS isn't that dumb. Unless Sony is colluding with them on this and the PS4 has the same restrictions, which is perfectly within the realm of possibility given Sony's track record with this sort of thing...I'm still leaning towards merely a rumor though

I'm pretty far behind on current gen games(just got a 360 a couple months ago), but Bastion is excellent as many people have said

Linux Multimedia Studio: A reasonable remixing tool?
liquid wind replied to Arguas's topic in Music Composition & Production
No experience with LMMS myself, modplug and psycle are the best free programs I've used. I think these are viable tools though less convenient in some ways than commercial software, basically what rozo said, use free programs until you feel like they're impeding you and then maybe look at something else. Having used a few programs beforehand will also give you a sense of what you're looking for out of your DAW when you demo paid software -
Nothing says accessibility like a big tutorial I don't remember reading a single manual for any of the NES games I had, putting a massive amount of text instructions into the game isn't making the game more accessible for younger generations, if I had played SS when I was 4 instead of LoZ I would have hurled the wii remote at the wall at some point during Fi's droning

Time's End: Majora's Mask Remix Album
liquid wind replied to Theophany's topic in General Discussion
Loving the preview tracks. Majora's Mask was probably the most profound gaming experience in my life, glad to see it getting more respect in recent years compared to its initial release, a lot of people missed out on it back then. Also loved Crystal Flash and this is sounding even better, can't wait to hear the rest! -
beautiful piano solo, extremely impressive how well all the different themes are used in just 2:31. looking at the list of songs you'd expect medleyitis hell but it is cohesive and doesn't feel superfluous. song of storms is the only transition I wasn't totally keen on but it's a minor gripe, good to see more MM
