bluelighter reacted to djpretzel in Final Fantasy III: Resurrection - Wrapping Up (Sign Consent Form!)
This particular saga is ended; Brandon has requested removal of his mixes from OCR, and we have decided that it makes sense, given his continued reluctance to admit any wrongdoing and continued insistence that we are in some way at fault / corrupt / whatever.
Put frankly, I don't trust him, I don't believe he learned anything from any of this, and I believe he'd just do it all over again in a heartbeat the next time something came up that he didn't like, didn't understand, misinterpreted, etc. As much of a fan as I am of the music he personally has released via OCR, which we have stood behind, and the albums he has coordinated... if I'm taking time away from my daughters to work on OCR, it has to be for the music, for the site, and for the community, not for the twisted ego & paranoia of a single artist intent on stirring up drama, baiting people, making unfounded accusations, etc.
I am willing to endure quite a bit for the betterment of OCR, and I realize that not ALL of the tasks that I'm responsible for are going to be fun, or enjoyable, or without controversy, but I cannot be expected to indefinitely babysit the fragile ego/psyche of someone who continuously makes bad faith accusations without evidence and sees no fault in his own actions, not to mention a LONG history of claims of harassment by other community members, abusive behavior on the forums, etc.
We will be mailing FF3 artists as well as collaborators who have worked with Brandon on posted mixes, as those will remain on the site unless a consensus decision to remove is reached by all parties. Existing published albums are unaffected by this process.
It's sad, but my goodness... I can't be expected to have unlimited patience and tolerance, nor can our staff. Long time coming. Time to move on.

I may not be a part of this project, but looking at the tracklist, most of the album was done (22 tracks). It doesn't look like any of his tracks he claimed had been finished for the album, and those that were are mostly OCR regulars (such as Sixto, Chimp, and Flex, for example). I mean, yeah, if someone can get a hold of him to ask about this since this trilogy was his baby, that would probably be for the best, but his blog post did say he was gonna seek alternative avenues for his own music ("I am going to be seeking other avenues to release and promote my own content" were his specific words). And none of that appears to be on this unless it was unlisted as finished. I would suggest maybe asking the artists involved how they feel about remaining on this album without Brandon at the head in addition to trying to reach him?
Or you can disregard this post entirely since, again, I'm not part of this album. Just wanted to give my assessment of the situation and a couple suggestions.

Everything else aside, I think we can agree that Brandon is a force of nature when it comes to these kinds of projects. No one is happy with how the last week has gone, and it sucks that he and OCR are going to part ways.
That being said, we're excited to see this album get completed, and I hope that you (the remixers) all want to stay on board with us and see it through. Let me know if I can be of any help or assistance.

Memories, Oh memories, good memories. A great remix for a marvelous game.

I loved the original melody! The arrangement is simple but efficient. I really like its particular rhythm, the harmony adaptation with bass line. And the piano in this odd time signature is really virtuoso

I love the concept
A lot of interesting and charming tracks in this album! Style unusual in OCR, but refreshing

bluelighter has turned in a finished WAV for Slideshow part 1 and 2. It's very cool and interesting, an orchestration. He was very kind with listening to feedback and has submitted the song to the panel, with plenty of time to see what they think before the album is done. First WAV, it's a bit of a special thing. Thanks a ton!
Let's see more music!!
To people in the subforum, there are several WIPs -- you might be surprised by what you find! I'd recommend subscribing / following the subforum as well as this thread, so you will be notified of new posts when you visit OCR. It's a good thing to do!

It will probably get covered... As it's one of the big songs near the end, I'm hoping it'll either show up as source usage in one of the other songs, or maybe someone with considerable talent will claim it. We'll see what happens!
As a reminder, some people are working on WIPs. These people are awesome. Everyone else (who has access to the subforum) PLEASE share your feedback! It's both valuable in helping the remixers work on their song, and keeping their morale up.

I'm surprised to see that "Legendary Beat" doesn't appear on the first page.
Any hope to have a mix of this in the album? It's a major boss theme in the ff serie IMO. And it would be regrettable if this track wasn't in the tracklist.

Amazing! It’s jazzy, it’s relaxing… The style is perfectly handled, and so appropriate to the original song! Piano and guitar sound really pure…
Great job!

Hey folks. Sorry for the false alarm earlier today with the April Fool's joke. Some people seem to be assuming that because we did a joke today about the album, this entire month of my saying that the album is done was just a lead up to the joke. If you know me and my opinions about April Fool's Day, you know that I have very strong opinions about doing any part of an A1 joke outside of April 1st. Rest assured, Water is done in terms of both music and album art.
Speaking of album art, take a look at what we've got cooked up!
And here's the tracklist!
I've been working with @rnn who's our wonderfully talented album artist for For Everlasting Peace, Super Cartogrpahy Bros., and Apex 2015: This is the Moment, to completely revamp the visual look for The Fabled Warriors. Volume 2 is going to be a stepping off point for this series in terms of art. After Water is released, we're going to go back and redo the album art for Wind to match this new style; it'll feature Bartz on the cover against a "windy" backdrop and a wind-inspired circular pattern. The next three albums (Fire, Earth, and Dawn) will feature Faris, Galuf, and Krile.
I want to thank @Otakatt and @Monobrow for their help with the original album art for Wind all those years ago. I had a specific idea for the series back then and we executed on it really well. But given some distance, I've decided I want to change up the look of the series and make things consistent throughout. I'm pretty excited.
Anyway look for the real release of Water in the coming weeks. It's all coming together. All that's really left is some preparation stuff on OCR staff's side; trailer, comments, etc. Thanks for being patient.

bluelighter got a reaction from RiverSound in OCRA-0053 - Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart
Great to see this album finally here! Patience well rewarded, a lot of jewels in a large variety of styles! After a first listening, it will be difficult for me to list all track which really marked me, so much there was.
I'm almost impressive by arrangement on tracks whose originals wasn't really marking IMO("Fixations", "Into the Sandstorm", "Four Score and Six-Eight"). Very much interesting tracks in this album. I retain also :
- "To Be Forgotten", really surprising knowing original and so nostalgic
- "I Am Gonna Stop Eventually" where Brandon has a new time managed to surprise us by using a new style
- "Corra!" not really surprising, but so powerful!
- " Knight-wit" I didn't expected this style for this track, but I love it !
- " Vamo alla Django" Impressed by virtuosity of artists. Style original and welcome !
I tried to make an eclectic selection. But a lot of other tracks are really great !
Thanks to OCR and to the artist for this album ! I've really found in it the tribute that the OST deserved

Turns out they accidentally remixed Final Fantasy XI instead of IX so they gotta shuffle really fast to make a FF IX album now
