  1. Rumor has it one of the reasons Sony had to shut down the network is because they have abolutely the worst security imaginable. If the math error that let failoverflow open the system wide wasn't enough, apparently if a system identifies itself as a debug unit without bothering to check any other data or credentials it gets access to developer only sections of psn. And Project Rebug turns regular ps3s into debug units, so yeah. Anybody who installed it gets into a backdoor and had access to who knows what. Sony is terrible at doing anything right honestly
  2. Virtual Console will stay I'm sure. Its a major ripoff that makes Nintendo tons of money, why would they not want to continue ripping people off? Also, maybe slow down and take some deep breaths, this isn't THAT exciting. Your posts are kinda hard to read lol
  3. Um, so far rumors have stated triple core IBM processor (no clocks named yet) and somewhere around 512MB of RAM. Those are the specs of the 360. Nintendo has rarily ever been "Expensive" in terms of raw power they put in their systems. Every single console they've made has had some sort of short coming compared to modern tech, and ever since they realised they do not HAVE to spend a lot of money on hardware: They haven't! See DS/Wii/3DS, their most profitable hardware ever, and years behind in technology. Well hate to burst your bubble, but considering its Wii backwards compatible and that motion games are all the rage these days, I do not think it will not come with something like an improved Wii Remote as well. Nintendo is not going to ditch the motion controls suddenly. In fact, this screen / controller combo was rumored to be the main control for the Wii before the Wii Remote was revealed, so it could again be all a false rumor like last time. A touch screen built into a controller is rather expensive, and Nintendo already has the NDS which has already been confirmed to interface with the new console (See Street Fighter IV 3DS mystery mode) If having a one piece controller excites you so much: Just get a 360/PS3. Also, you said Crysis 2, which is already on 360/PS3, specifically designed to run on consoles, so no major feat. And if this is running off the Dev console: Dev consoles generally have more power than the real ones, for debugging purposes.
  4. SonicThHedgog, i think you are hyping this up a bit too much. The console will probably be around 360/PS3 level graphically, maybe able to do easier 720/1080p where as 360/PS3 struggle at reaching even 720p resolutions in most games. Do not expect anything but dated technology to be showing up in a Nintendo console. This isn't going to be a modern PC or even NEXT gen console graphics by a long shot
  5. Giving away a game during a promotion does not mean the game was free. It may not of cost YOU anything, but the game has a retail price.
  6. Portal 1 was never priced "Free", it came bundled with Orange box or was stand alone somewhere $20-30 i think. Right now its $10 and still not "Free" so not sure where you get that its a free game. I do not think that its really worth the $50 its currently being sold for, even though I thoroughly enjoyed it. $30-40 would be a better price See the method I mentioned for ripping the audio out of the game, the commentary is in /sound/commentary
  7. Well like I also said, if you guys need to roll back pm me or come to irc. Sorry Lemon forgot about your crater :/
  8. Nope. Would of posted if it was! Multiplay is stll waiting for a recommended build from bukkit. Im sure between waiting on the massive bugs to be fixed in 1.5 and all the new features and holiday things are a little behind. So please stick to 1.4 until I post we've been updated
  9. The Damned is correct, I didn't list any of the sub iterations only successors. 3DS is definately in the "DS" family, denying that is silly. Its got the same 2 screen logo, same "DS" in the name (3 is colored differently), same design, etc etc. Its a successor, but its in the same family / naming scheme. I do not beleive Nintendo gives an official meaning for "DS", its more of a brand then an acronym. Most people assume "Dual Screen" but I've also heard "Developer System" and a few others. Officially its ambiguous, probably so they can change its meaning as fits the system. Either way, 3DS does HAVE dual screens, and its 3D, so 3D + DS = 3DS. I thought that was obvious
  10. Wii 2 does sound a bit flat. Thats more of Sony's thing. Like Coop said, and given their history, they will add some sort of sily and/or simple modifer like they have with Gameboy (GB, GBC, GBA), and DS (DS, DSi, 3DS) and to a lesser extent "Nintendo"/"Super Nintendo"/"Nintendo 64"* (as most people called NES/SNES/N64). We'll see this E3 i guess. *aka "Nintendo Ultra 64"/"Ultra Nintendo" at one point during development.
  11. And for anybody else who wants to take a peek at all the audio: Get a GCF extractor (GCFScape is a good one) and open up: Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\pak01_dir.vpk once opened up: root/sound/music However a lot of the tracks are split up into different sections since the music is dynamic, but they are all there (except ONE important one [spoil]the opera is FMV, so no sound file[/spoil], unfortunately) Thats the best we can get until the official OST comes out (which hopefully will)
  12. Intelligent Systems has only been involved with one Metroid game, as far as I know. They helped with programming on Super Metroid, R&D1 did all the rest. R&D1 did Metroid II and Fusion. R&D1 was active up until 2005 when Iwata restructured the R&Ds. IS mostly does the "Wars" series, and the Mario & Luigi / Papper Mario series. All great games
  13. Whats with people posting remixes from Origins (I think?) of FF2 music instead of the originals? FFII Rebel Army Original FC version:
  14. NSMB and NSMB Wii are pretty lame games in comparison to smb3 or smw and they are on the top of that list. Their numbers are high because of the popularity of the ds/ wii and gaming is now mainstream. Mario 64 was amazing, anybody who says its terrible or a flop is definatly just wrong . The game is praised by the entire industry as a hallmark of gaming. Also 12 million is not flop numbers
  15. Might not want to advertise your project if its this early into production, Nintendo C&D's come quick once a project becomes public knowledge / popular. Also, I'm pretty sure yours isn't the "First".
  16. I've been listening to OCR like, almost since it was created. I just signed up recently because of the MC hosting. A remix is changing up a song. A remake changes up a song. A remix can be a remake. You are really just arguing semantics. Either way, what he posted wasn't the original source material.
  17. Nintendo didn't really make Other M, Team Ninja did most of it. You can feel their influence everywhere. Though the main director of the series was involved, not sure how he let the project go so astray. Nintendo SHOULD make another Metroid themselves as the ones that R&D1 did by themselves are the best (MI, II:RoS, III:Super, IV:Fusion, Zero). Retro did a great job making the series a FPS, but its still a FPS version of the series and not the way the series is meant to play. Neither is Other M though. Thats a bralwer / Ninja Gaiden (modern) clone that someone mixed Metroid into and broke its controls horribly. Personally I think they should get Epic / Cliff Bleszinski to do it, because Shadow Complex is the closet thing we've gotten to a modern Metroid outside of the indie scene.
  18. Funny enough, what you posted a link to WAS a remix. The original:
  19. Until further notice if you want to play on the OCR Minecraft server please select no when prompted to update. If you've said yes let me know in pm or irc and ill provide a roll back
  20. Taking place on an island and being island themed are two different things. The older game the only way you really knew it was an island was the overworld. The levels were all varied, usually in some lush jungle. The enemies were reptile pirates! DKCR every level looks like some beach except for the cave levels. All the music is like tropical remixes or original terrible tropical songs. All the enemies are Tiki masks.
  21. DKCR isn't "Nintedo's work" really, its made by Retro Studio, and DKC wasn't their work either, it was Rare. Regardless, DKCR is actually a very good game, but marred by a few things: Can't use classic controller, have to use wiimote side ways or akward Wiimote+Nunchuck configuation which works better for 3D games than 2D. HAVE to use "waggle" to do basic moves which could of been done with a button way easier in the old games. No underwater levels. TOO many minecart levels. Havn't played it all, but Tiki masks as enemies and the tropical island theme feel more like a Crash thing than DK thing. Not sure if K.Rool shows up later, but hes not shown up through half the game so far. Just stupid magic tiki nonsense. If these were fixed it would of been fantastic, but as is, I still think its a good game personally. I think thats a major problem for Wii games, is that instead of just trying to be a good game as possible, they try to incorporate waggling for no reason. If all of them had proper support for the Classic Controller, i think half the games would be improved dramatically.
  22. Anybody vouching for Subnormal? or anybody else whos asked on the thread Edit: *peeks at next post* Ah thats who asked: Kenogu Labz too?
