  1. Just finding this now, I guess I'll introduce myself, despite having been here for a while. So I'm pokemoneinstein. Shocker, huh? I'm 15 years old, and I've been gaming since I was three, starting with Donkey Kong Country and DKC2. I grew up on mostly retro stuff, so I have a lot of the same memories as a lot of you older users. VGM means a lot to me, and I'm quite honestly not sure why. But it brings back so many wonderful memories that regular, popular music just don't invoke. I started "remixing" on YouTube a couple of years ago, but I've really only gotten good in the last few months. For the longest time I would just take MIDIs and run them through GarageBand. But I'm a very fast learner, and I've managed to teach myself a lot about music theory just by listening to remixers here, as well as a YouTube user named skotein. I just finished my first attempt at a "real" remix, called Land of the Beans, and it's a huge improvement even from what I was uploading a few months ago. It's so hard to choose a favorite song, or franchise, or anything, so I'll just list some of the ones that have been the biggest parts of my life. Kirby, Donkey Kong, Mario, Pokémon, Zelda, EarthBound, and Final Fantasy IV have been the biggest influences on my life, in terms of both music and gaming. More specifically, Kirby's Adventure, DKC, all the classic Mario games, as well as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Pokémon Gold/Silver and Red/Blue, and Ocarina of Time... Wow, that's a lot of games, and I'm not nearly done, so I'll just stop. I feel like this is way more information than necessary XD Anyway, it means a lot to me that I get to be here! Glad to meet some of you, and to know some others, and I look forward to spending even more time around these parts!
  2. Oh, jeez. If you know how to transpose, all of them, but I don't know how many start in a minor key. Why do you ask?
  3. Someone else must have noticed the incredible similarities in these songs by now. I think together they would make a really neat remix. Just a suggestion if anybody's out of ideas looking for something fun to make.
  4. Either this or the solution proposed by The Damned should be implemented. They both work fine, as long as the system isn't set up in the somewhat-confusing way it is, now. Assuming I understand them correctly, Rozovian's thoughts would be ideal. On a similar note, in addition to listing remixes on both games, "related remixes" would be a great solution to this and the problem Rozovian brings up. When on the page for that remix, it could suggest related remixes, using songs from the same game, as well as other remixes of the same source. Most importantly, it would included remixes of remixes of the source. Take the invincibility theme from the original Super Mario Bros, for example. When viewing a remix, it would not only suggest other remixes of that song and remixes of other songs from the original SMB, but it would also show remixes of the invincibility theme from Super Mario 64 (which, itself, is a remix of that from the original NES game). Anyway, I feel like I've done a terrible job explaining what I'm trying to say. Do you guys understand me, or should I make it clearer?
  5. That's just not true. Blue has 1 remix, Silver has 1 remix, Sapphire has 1 remix, and Crystal has 1 remix (whose sources all originate in Gold/Silver).
  6. A user named Jamish is working on a remix on his own time, but he hasn't updated his WIP thread in about a week, and when I asked him if he wanted to submit it for the album, he ignored my question. You can take it, if you want. If Jamish comes back, we can add his as a bonus track.
  7. The project will include those tracks. Anybody who wants to make extras is welcome, but it's a little shaky, because the track list is big enough as it is. Because you said your song may not be up to OCR standards, I'm a little iffy about putting you down before I hear what you have to offer. I'm more than willing to work closely with you and get your remix in tip-top shape. Pretty much, yes. Any thoughts on what you'd like to remix?
  8. Let's see what you can do before committing to the project, then, since it's also one of the extra songs. Wanna drop me a WIP sometime?
  9. Speaking of which, I need a new invite. I can't access the site anymore, for some reason.
  10. I'll put you down for Airship Fortress. The more the merrier!
  11. If he's willing to commit spending a ton of time perfecting a remix, then I see no problem. But he has to be able to commit to it. We want the majority of these songs to be up to OCR standards.
  12. No deadline yet. I don't think enough tracks have been claimed to set one. I think as of right now, remixers can finish up anything they're working on and clear some space for their Road Rage mixes. So for now, you can get working as soon as you want to, but don't feel pressured to finish by a certain time.
  13. That's more than fine, as long as Maple Treeway is dominant. Or if you want to have DK Summit and Maple Treeway share the limelight, that's also great! The only real guidelines I have are that you run a mix by myself, Brushfire, and Electrolisystem before submitting it to the judges panel, and that you put your best efforts into the mix. I hope (as I'm sure Brushfire and Electro do, too) that this album can become an official OCR release, but we can't do that without a solid number of OCR-acceptable tracks.
  14. Whoops, so sorry. I must have clicked the wrong one. I'll fix that right away.
  15. Whoever ends up doing Rainbow Road could include a couple of lines of the lyrics by Rhymes with Stomach. That would be hilarious.
  16. Absolutely! N64/GCN version, I assume? I was also thinking that there could be multiple versions of it. look at the Theme of Love in the FFIV album.
  17. How's this track coming along? It's been a while since you posted the first version.
  18. Big news, everybody, WE ARE NOW RECRUITING! Everybody be sure to claim the track you want before it's too late!
  19. That's a good point. We should make sure, though, that remixes of songs exclusive to the third game are the ONLY ones listed under the third game.
  20. Anyone familiar with Pokémon knows that every new game is released in two versions, with a third following shortly afterwards. Games like Red, Blue, and Yellow; Gold, Silver, and Crystal; Ruby, Sapphire Emerald, etc. are essentially the same games. But when you search for Pokémon here on the site, they show up separately. Why that's important for OCR is because they have the same soundtracks, so listing them as separate games only splits up songs that should all be listed in the same place. It's a problem the way it is, for example, because Pokémon Red is listed with 10 ReMixes, while Blue is listed with 1. Pokémon Gold is listed with 6, while Silver and Crystal are each listed with one. Why not consolidate them to be listed as, rather than "Pokémon Red," "Pokémon Blue," "Pokémon Yellow," we list them as "Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow," "Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal" etc? That way, "Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow" would be shown to have 11 ReMixes. "Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal" would be shown with 8. Everything would be a lot smoother. And obviously, the change would apply to RSE, DPP, and BW (Whenever someone remixes a song from them) And while we're on the subject of Pokémon, why exactly is a TV season listed as a game? Just curious.
