  1. Thanks! Though may i ask, artificial in what way? Are you able to identify how? Is the velocity too strong or something?
  2. Believe me, I've looked for a better one. It's not a big deal, though, since this theme is so well-known. Alright, I brightened the piano a teensy bit and evened out the louder notes (all of them I could find, anyway). And can you clarify what you mean by "too dynamic"? I'd argue that if there were any major problem, it'd be that it repeats itself with no variation form the first time around at the very end. And the velocities of the low notes are pretty varying, so I assume you meant that they were mostly eighth notes. I humanized the timing, but I think it actually sounds much worse. You're the expert here, so maybe I'm just misunderstanding you. Regardless, here's the new version: With bass timing altered: https://www.box.com/s/33dbd30c79f7fa53c70e Without bass timing altered: https://www.box.com/s/411cf44d7481a7aeedb5
  3. Alright, so after a few months of not working on it, I set aside a big chunk of time to put the finishing touches on my resub version of the song. Here are some of the biggest notes from mods: Not enough humanization Cameo themes are too similar to their originals Ending feels too abrupt Not enough variation in percussion Volume levels are too constant Humanization: I think I did okay on this. I humanized the piano, mostly. The string stabs, too. And if I recall correctly, I actually ditched the brass stabs. Cameo themes: I added some variation on each one. DragonAvenger suggested I could choose one or two and expand on them, but I like the way I have it done now. Percussion Variation: Not sure about this one. I'm terrible at writing percussion, so I'm not sure I managed to get it quite to the level that it needed to be. Hopefully I'm wrong. Ending: Changed a lot of the arrangement. Overall, it's just more fluid now. I also changed up the arrangement of the lead for the third repetition of the chorus to keep it fresher. And after fixing these and other issues with the song, here's the newest version. Thoughts, anybody? How did I do? https://www.box.com/s/6618b4d42b18841dfc22
  4. Hey there, it's been a few days since I marked my song "Got 'Tween Asleep and Wake" as Mod Review, and it's just about fallen off the first page. It's fine to take your time, I just want to make sure it doesn't slip away unnoticed by a moderator.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got one within the last few hours. For some reason, the thread didn't have a new post icon. Sorry to bother you.

  5. Not sure exactly when, but I'll keep you posted. I'm thinking late July.
  6. I hope you're all working on your songs over the summer!
  7. Hey, I sent you another BotW progress update. Have you seen it?

  8. I finished the song, if anyone here still cares. Please have a listen, all comments and criticisms are more than welcome
  9. I'm so sorry, I just realized I forgot to redo the Happy Mask Salesman audition for you. Is the part still untaken?

  10. You never cease to amaze me. I wish I were as good an orchestrator as you.
  11. This is so conservative that it'd be crazy to try and submit it, but much like dummeh, I'm looking for critiques to improve myself. I already added a semi-original glockenspiel bridge and various countermelodies and more. The one thing I do recognize needs changing is the short introduction, but I'm not sure as to what to make it sounds like. I'd like to keep the small feeling of the piece as a whole. But again, any and all critiques are much appreciated. (The ending cut off while I was bouncing it. It's supposed to fade, ignore the abrupt stop) Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuUROg3ryX8 Remix: https://www.box.com/s/f414a156856ee8ddd7f8
  12. I'm not an accomplished remixer, but if July 1 comes and not enough people have signed up, I could take a song. I've come close to getting posted before, so I wouldn't be too detrimental.
  13. I agree that the choir sounds out of place. More concerning to me, however, like I said on the YouTube page, is the bass. It's far too loud for me to enjoy the rest of the remix to its fullest, and the instrumentation choice just doesn't do it for me. It's far too gruff. I'd have gone with some low bouncy strings and maybe a quiet contrabassoon to compliment them. Otherwise, the remix is fantastic and I have no complaints.
  14. Well we've still got all the new Wii U features they held back on during the Direct stream. And then they've got the software showcase on Wednesday. This is going to be a hell of a year for Nintendo. Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario 3D, Pikmin 3, Shiggy's new IP, Retro's secret project... It's gonna be great! And I guess then there's NSMB2 and NSMB Mii, but frankly, I don't like NSMB one bit.
  15. First post updated with a shortened tracklist, since progress isn't being made fast enough. If you think you're on the project, check to make sure you still are. Few people were kicked, but some didn't respond to PMs and had unimportant tracks. Brushfire decided there was too much going on in real life to work on this, and he's dropped it. Additionally, we're now looking for artists, both for cover art and promo art. Anyone interested?
  16. What I meant is that because there is good music from all around, we should have a minimum number of tracks for each game, and then encourage people to sign on for bonus tracks once the whole album is claimed.
  17. Exactly the point of this project! But legroom is exactly what the bonus tracks are there for. That way, if someone really wants to remix something else, they can. And I think songs should be delegated according to size of the spinoff series. If we end up with, for example, 5 songs from Pokémon Typing and one from Mystery Dungeon, that wouldn't be a very good reflection of our goal.
  18. Also a fine idea. Might I suggest first delegating a certain number of tracks to each game? So then it could look something like this: Colosseum series: 5 songs (one exclusive from each) Rescue Team: 2 songs Explorers of ___: 3 songs Stadium: 2 songs Stadium 2: 1 songs Ranger: 1 song Ranger 2/3: 1 song (from either) Puzzle series: 2 songs (one from each) Pokémon TCG: 2 songs Pinball series: 2 songs (one from each) Pokémon Channel: 1 song PokéPark Wii: 1 song Rumble Blast: 1 song Battle Revolution: 1 song Trozei: 1 song Dash: 1 song Typing DS: 1 song Conquest: 1 song Snap: 1 song Bonus Tracks: ~5 songs Then, people can choose what songs they want, but the spread of spinoff attention is controlled. That way, it won't become, say, a Mystery Dungeon album with an Orre song here and there and maybe a Snap track.
  19. You are, of course, the director, so the final call is up to you, but here's how I think the song spread should go: Colosseum series: 5 songs Agate Village Pyrite Town The Under (Colosseum exclusive) Pokémon Lab (XD exclusive) Normal Battle (Story Mode) (Colosseum) *BONUS* Pokémon Center? Mystery Dungeon series: 5 songs Town Square (Rescue Team) I'm not the best person to choose PMD songs to suggest. Tuberz, TGH, would either of you two like to complete this list? Pokémon Stadium series: 3 songs Mewtwo Battle (Stadium) Pika Cup Rounds 1-3 (Stadium) Mini Games (Stadium 2) *BONUS* Quiz (Stadium 2) Pokémon Ranger series: 3 songs Go-Rock Quad Encounter (Ranger) (Again, not the best guy for this one. Someone else?) Pokémon Puzzle series: 2 songs Before choosing songs, we should find out if most of the music is okay. If not, there are a few original themes that didn't source from the anime. Pokémon TCG: 2 songs Title Theme World Map / Mason's Lab Pokémon Pinball series: 2 songs Bonus Stage: Gastly (Pinball R/B) This song Other games: 8 songs Pokémon Channel: Outside PokéPark Wii: Meeting Place Pokémon Rumble Blast: The Battle Royal Pokémon Snap: Medley (Intro, Oak's Lab, Course Select, Camera Check) Pokémon Trozei: Normal Stage Pokémon Dash: White Cup Pokémon Typing DS: Main Theme 1 Pokémon Conquest: Main Theme *BONUS* Beach (Pokémon Snap) Total Tracklist: 30 (Bonuses excluded from total tracklist)
  20. I'm in. And as for songs from the main series, I'd say as long as they've also got a song from a spinoff mixed in. (Anyone wanna mix together Eterna City and Agate Village? I'd love to whistle for anyone who wants to make a sleepy remix of that.)
  21. Well, Pixel, your Orre list is already set up (though you probably wants to have a battle theme or two) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE3dL9uS_xs Myself and AlmightyArceus decided separately from this project that we're going to be doing a Pyrite Town a capella remix. So you can sign us up for that.
