  1. The bass + clap was kind of distracting for me at the beginning before the meatier lead comes in, which is kind of a shame because there's some cool stuff that gets pushed back because of it (particularly the melodic sine part). However, I've never really been much for that kind of thing (in general, claps just sound really cheesy to me, especially paired with 4-on-the-floor kick drum parts), so I suppose it might be more of a personal preference... Once the other stuff gets going and there's more to grab your attention, I didn't notice it as much. Sweet lead work. At 0:55, that lead note just ends really abruptly, and it feels very awkward imo. Other than that though, I don't really have much. Plenty of Batman on the ol' snare there, everything gels together really well, and as Gario said, as long as you're good on source you're probably good to go. Timaeus, I remember commenting on a Castlevania track you had up a couple of summers ago; you've improved a ton, keep it up (chimpo, haven't heard much from you until recently, so I'm not too familiar with your stuff but.. yeah, uh, sounds good, keep it up )
  2. Thanks!! I actually only had a rough cut to go off of, so it lined up even better in the preliminary version I had (the best example is at the end, there was one more repetition of the "NO" scream, and the cut to black happened exactly with the last impact). I'm looking forward to working more with David in the future. I'll be sure to post more of our work!
  3. Ugh, I got enough of that when I co-hosted Ben's livestream for Four.Songs promo... <3
  4. Hahaha, I'll be back. I just went through the entire Sonic CD subforum a couple days ago doing my staffly duties, critting everything up there... So forgive me for being a bit burnt out atm. On a cursory listen though, sounds pretty good guys I figure I might as well wait for an update, I sense one's not too far off
  5. Absolutely not. I even get to pick from tunes from one of my favorite composers!! Excite Oh hell yes, already found my source(s). I've never actually played the game I'm picking from, but I remembered that the soundtrack is by Jeremy Soule. It's called Total Annihilation, and I'll likely be mixing a few of the tracks together. Forest Green is likely going to be the main one though. If only the FL defaults had decent orchestral stuff to mix with the electronic I LOVE Soule's work though, and he's underrepped on OCR (although he DID rep himself in a show of support for OCR <3 ), so the odds are that I'll be doctoring this up after I'm done and subbing it.
  6. Yeah man, this is pretty bitchin'! I love that it's got a pretty heavy melodic influence. It actually sounds kinda like some of the soundtrack with a much more aggressive vibe. All the filtering is great too man, nice work. I enjoy this quite a bit, keep it up
  7. Hey y'all, just finished up a film score about a week ago or so, and David just got it color corrected and released. The actors blew it out of the water. The audio's a bit rough around the edges, and the music's a little quiet, but David gets the final say in the mixing, and I think as a whole it turned out pretty damn well. I'd love to know what you all think!
  8. Might be kind of a pain, but if you're out of options why not just pitch shift/time stretch the slow one back to the original?
  9. Depending on how long episodes are, I'd love to do some scoring work (perhaps not all of a full episode, but I'm gaining more and more scoring experience - hopefully my most recent commissioner posts his short that I just finished scoring soon, and I've got a couple other projects of his that are also pending release) And hell, I even think we could even do some sort of large-scale collaborative effort. I, for one, LOVE collaborating. And me and Omni-Psy, who said he already emailed you, happen to work pretty damn well together, if I may say so myself. I think that'd be really fun, and has potential for some insanely high-yielding results if a number of people in the community had input
  10. As Matt and I were talking last night, my track has taken a turn for the slightly hilarious. Even if you're not an orchestral nerd (which you shouldn't have to be, the insert is from a pretty pretty well known orchestral piece), you should be able to appreciate the humor in it I'll likely be posting the WIP in the subforum, once I get it up to where it needs to be
  11. Mentioned it to DusK, but I'm mulling the possibility of scrapping my track as it is right now and starting from scratch. The synthesis is kind of assy, and I'm not sure I'm digging the structure. I don't feel like it's too representative of where I'm at now Feel free to PM me if you wanna chat about it a bit, but I'm still anticipating meeting the deadline, so no worries EDIT: Quite the birthday present, eh ecto? Get equipped with: Deadline
  12. Yep. All of this. ecto is one of the first OCR friends I made, and he's become a great friend IRL. We got into music at about the same time, and we've ended up having a lot of the same experiences, especially when it comes to criticism (countless times we've exchanged our frustrations with music, been incredibly discouraged, had to take breaks from it). It really is part of the process, it toughens you up and forces you to look for the inevitable utility of ANY comment that someone would make about your music. It seems kinda like you're asking "are you people going to be nicer to me this time?" If that's the case, I'm going to echo what everyone else is saying. I would encourage you to put your work up here for feedback, but whether or not you should make music shouldn't be something you should have to ask people. And if you want to make music, but don't want criticism, no one says you have to put it up here to begin with Lol, this is what I read too
  13. I beat Super Metroid in 50 minutes a couple nights ago, by the game clock I won't do it again because I plan to shave more time off BREAKIN' INTO THE 40'S Sounds like I'm about to time travel or something
  14. I smell stream material for a pH Indy visit Since I'm already posting, ummm.. I guess, like... saving everyone in MMX6? Not really much point in doing it again, because not everything is necessary to beat it. I do love look of the blue Z Sabre you get by equipping the Sabre Plus though
  15. Hey this looks pretty cool! I had one of the tracks on the Apex album that OCR did, if you need anything PM me and I'll try to help out as time allows
  16. Gah, man I'd love to give you some more in-depth feedback, but I'm kinda swamped atm. Hopefully I'll be able to get to it tomorrow, but tonight I gotta work on some other stuff. I did listen through, definitely sounds a bit better. Couple things off the top of my head, heard a sour chord around 1:15, snare could pop more (a bit more compression, if you're using BLOCKFISH, try turning up the output and then lowering the volume of the mixer track so it squashes the waveform a bit more), sometimes the rhythms with the hats sound kinda weird in the beginning. I also think the melody would REALLY pop if it were up an octave, with some verb and a bit of delay. Really love those extra flourishes though, especially toward the end. It sounds like it wants to be more of a drum n bass track, which would be really bitching man Like I said, hopefully I'll be able to get you some more crits tomorrow or the day after, but I gotta get back to work on some other stuff for the night :S Oh hey, just had a thought; try sending a project file and I'll see if I can open it and take a look. Might not translate perfectly, but it's worth a shot, right?
  17. You guys aren't bad musicians, but your marketing is just... terribly cheesy, and really offputting. I wish you would approach your music from a different angle
  18. Many thanks my friend... *many thanks*

  19. As I recall, we have the same birthday... happy (possibly late, depending on timezones) conjoined birthday, my friend!!!
