Sorry I hadn't checked this board in a while!!! I'll send you guys PMs! -
Successful Electronic Genre
AngelCityOutlaw replied to Dash Myoku's topic in Music Composition & Production
Which is almost impossible. -
Thanks Rozo! No denying you are right about this. I do like the song so I'll probably mess around with the dynamics more and then re-upload and see what you think!
-
I like the massive amount of silence at the end. Anyway, it's cool. I'm not a huge fan of the lead guitar though. She's kind of buried and I think out of key at a couple spots.

References for Mastering
AngelCityOutlaw replied to Rozovian's topic in Music Composition & Production
You know, I'm gonna have to actually agree with Mr. Neblix here. "Professional" typically means, "you get paid to do it". There's varying levels of professional as well. If you master your own track, you try it out in all the sound systems people are actually going to be listening to your music on and it's sounds great; then you have achieved the goal have you not? I'm definitely not denying that someone who has many years of experience mastering tracks in a particular genre can produce slammin' results, but I don't feel that it is an absolute necessity to have it mastered by a pro. You can still get great, perfectly acceptable results by learning and doing things yourself. I think that OCR has actually proved that in some ways. Most pro mastering guys started by mastering their own tracks and getting better and better over the years. Nothing is ever perfect though. There will always be room for improvement. So if it were me, I would probably do it myself to keep improving. -

I'd probably still buy and listen to it regardless of whether you or a pro mastered it. -
The Yoshimitsu Voice
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks! Works great. -
I'm not really sure what the hell kind of question this is. But I'll post it in music production thread as that seems like a safe bet. What kind of effect did they use for Yoshimitsu's (the metal samurai) voice from Tekken? You can hear the effect I'm talking about in this video for example

So yeah, this isn't really a remix. More of just a cover I did for the hell of it and practice. It's a cover of the classic "Tomb Raider" theme. I have been considering doing an epic, symphonic-metal remix of the theme but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not. Thoughts? http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/tomb-raider-theme-cover

wip Street Fighter Alfa 2 - Sakura's Theme
AngelCityOutlaw replied to ambient's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Hey, it's your Sakura mix you were talkin' about a while back. Cool. The drums sound good! I think that Rukunetsu hit the nail on the head though. The source is fairly obscured and that synth does have an almost annoying swell to it. One other suggestion. Perhaps try adding in some moar real instrument samples! I personally find that electronic music becomes way more awesome when it's combined with good use of real instruments. Anyway, sounding good so far. I don't think it's great just yet though! -
Good god, that song is horrible (in my opinion). Anyway, I'm not really sure what you mean to be honest. My first instinct was, "if you want "compressed"....just use a compressor." The drums in that tune sound pretty average to me. I also don't think alt-rock has a particular drum sound. It just means "alternative rock", which is more or less an umbrella term. I guess you could just use samples of drum kits from your favorite alt-rock artists. I'm being no help....

WHAT!? I must see this.

When I first fired up FL Studio, my mind was blown by this awesome song that started playing. I think it was called "Just hold on" by Zircon. Then when I got an account on OCR and discovered Zircon hangs out here, my mind was blown again.

Well.....there are several things to consider. Will your album be available via download only or will it be on CD as well? If download only, you can just upload songs, art etc and get going usually. If it's on CD, who is making the physical copies of these CDs? Do they take a share of the profit? Once you've got that figured out, who is actually going to distribute the CDs? How will your album reach places where people can buy it and what would that cost? Some websites, I'm not sure about bandcamp though, do allow you to release your album on CD as well. Though what you can include for art is usually quite limited. Other than that, I don't really know if there's "guidelines" really. Just consider what formats you will release it on and how people will have access to it.

Ono tweeted this picture. I'd say this confirms rolento. That "leaked" list that came out a while back which skeptics dismissed as a "wish list" so far is right on the money......

wip Rockin' Bloody Tears
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Thanks! I know in that upload the organ is pretty mechanical and there's one part where the one guitar is louder than the other but I've since fixed that. -
So I feel like doing a cover of Naoto Shibata's version of "bloody tears". No lead guitars just yet, but how is the rest sounding to you? http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/bloody-tears

True enough, there's nothing in there that really resembles him except the basketball. We'll find out when TGS happens I assume.

Anyone up for something?
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Sounds good. At the moment I don't exactly have ideas of what we could do but hey I'm sure we can figure somethin' out. Let me know when you get a chance to check out my soundcloud. -
Realistic Sounding Bass. Does it exist?
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks a lot for the help you guys! The resampling to an octave below is an interesting idea. I'll have to try it out! -
Obviously in the form of bass guitar yes. Problem is I can't afford to hire a real bassist and I don't have a bass of my own. I've been googling vsts and soundfonts but I can't find anything convincing so far. If you don't have a bass/bass player, but you want bass for a rock tune, what would you do?

Palm Mute Problem
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Music Composition & Production
^This solved the probs. -
Yeah so I have a pretty strong grasp with music theory, composition, play guitar etc. I'm a shitty mixer though. If anyone wants to do a remix or original etc, reply!!! Let's make somethin' killer. Check out some of my tunes here http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw
