Palm Mute Problem
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks Zircon! -
Why is it that whenever I have distortion going and I palm mute, I get a retarded amount of boom? I've lowered the pick ups, sweeped around with an eq, and even completely rolled off all the bass on the amp and it makes absolutely no difference. If I use a clean channel, then use an amp sim, it doesn't happen. I don't want to use amp sims though. Guitar by itself http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/test You can hear how it sounds in a song here http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/rooftop-rumble-demo Why? Some people tell me it doesn't bother them but I dunno.....

So yeah I'm still coming up with more tracks for this fighting game. This is one idea I have for a "continue?" screen. You know, where the announcer encourages you to get your ass back in there as the clock counts down to zero? You guys will probably dig the announcer for the game, he's done some big name games and cartoon series actually. Anyhow. Check out one of the ideas here http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/dont-back-down Let me know what you think. It'll make me feel good inside.

Well, I'm really not a fan of chip tune stuff. Just not a huge fan of most of the retro game sound. Well, I do love me some good ol' synthy brass like the old street fighter games. Anyway, the music is what is important here. Great tunes my friend! I really like Colossus of Egypt. It didn't sound like what I was expecting from the title, It actually reminds me of Symphony X for some reason. "Vestigal Dance Of Blades".......now that is seven different shades of fuck awesome!!! This one is probably my favorite. It's action packed but that choir type sound in the back gives her this haunting feel that I totally love. Takes me back to the "Thunderforce" days. Words to live by! So like I said, not a huge fan chip tunes. This sure is a freakin' killer album though.

New wip with some of Jin Kazama. http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/cross-the-line-wip5 I used a really weird distorted organ (which is way too loud) for the main melody but I'm not sure I want to keep that instrument. Lots of different possibilities with this part. I also have an idea for a much better transition so that's comin' soon. Main thing with this is you'll notice a real empty space where the bass and drums are just doin' their thing. I've tried writing different melodies and stuff over top of the bass to compliment it but nothing too awesome so far. Really not sure what I could do to fill this space..... Suggestions guys? -
I've used this saying many times today. "You just can't please em' all." Which is probably the moral of the story in this thread.

OCR02277 - Metroid Prime 3 "Lore Hunter"
AngelCityOutlaw replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Lol @ people complaining about velocities. I think it's fine. Seriously 9/10 people who will visit this site and listen to this remix will probably not care about velocity or even notice. As for things that are far more important. Production = Everything sounds pretty clear to me. Well, I would've liked the melodies to be a little louder though. I like the drums and the woodwinds especially. Samples and all that sound good. Arrangement = No complaints really. Good and relaxing. Could maybe use a little more variation each time around but meh I still loved it. Overall I like it. I guess you'll never please everyone though. Great job Darkesword! -
Megaman and Sonic are sort of like the Madden NFLs of Capcom and Sega.

SFIII Replays....win or fail?
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in General Discussion
Kill me but I actually prefer most of the remixes. I was never a fan of the original third strike's soundtrack. Yeah it's absolute bullshit but 360 users can't upload to their own channels. At least, not yet..... -
SFIII Replays....win or fail?
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in General Discussion
True. Execution is everything. Quality especially......240p? Are you serious capcom? On a somewhat related note, I see that the new SFIII soundtrack has recieved extremely hostile response.....why? -
Strangely I don't see a SF3 online thread...maybe I'm just blind. Anyway, the big feature with it is uploading replays to the youtube channel right? Which FINALLY work on xbox. Problem is, it's crap in my opinion. It took hours for my first replay to upload and the quality sucks on all the videos. I'm not really convinced that this will be the "revolutionary" new feature everyone said it would be. Here's my replay Playing as Ibuki (I know I'm crap no need to point it out) Anyways, do you guys think the replay to youtube feature is a good or bad idea? Should it be used in more fighting games?

Looking for some asian instruments?
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in Music Composition & Production
I didn't realize you could load it as a soundfont. Mini DiZI is badass indeed. -

Hey guys/girls. Not trying to advertise or spam, just thought maybe I could help some folks out. I'm doin' some music for a fighting game and I needed something that sounded like a bamboo flute and Erhu. I'll be damned if I didn't come across some pretty good free options. Mini DIZI and Mini Erhu! http://www.chineekong.com/free.htm Check em' out if ya haven't heard of em. With a smidge of verb and playing around velocity and things like that, you can get some real convincing sounds I find. Pretty cool for freebies. -
Pretty much this. Though I hate megaman. I think it's because Capcom (and many other developers) forget that the people they actually work for are the fans. Instead, they often wind up doing whatever the hell they feel like instead of trying to give people what they want. Then they can't figure out why everyone's pissed. UMvC3 is a prime example. Despite considerable demand from the day MvC3 was announced, we were told from the get go that there was just no way in hell Nemesis could be playable in the game and same went with Ghost Rider. Guess who's now available for UMvC3? Oh and There has not been one decent RE game since 3.

My first submission was rejected outright too due to how horrid it was. My second one made it to the judges with a "NO (resub)" thing. I'm hopin' the third time will be the charm. People who give up if their first try is rejected should be hit with a shovel.

A youtube user uploaded some good gameplay videos from Capcom Fight Club London. Check one of em' out here

midi orchestration and kontakt 4
AngelCityOutlaw replied to mickomoo's topic in Music Composition & Production
I love how every thread that has both Neblix and Sonic usually results in a battle. Anyway, are you playing the notes on a keyboard or a MIDI guitar or something? Perhaps that would help. -
This question has been asked a thousand times. It depends. If you have no musical background at all, it'll probably take you years. If you do have a strong music background like I did, but you don't know much about mixing and production, you'll likely get posted once you get up to an acceptable standard with that. I'm aware I don't have any remixes posted here, it's only in recent times that I've been able to get the production half-ass good. I have a new Street Fighter and Tekken remix I've been working on that I'll try subbing when it's finished. I think the production is good with it, but in reality it probably isn't and likely won't make it on to the site. I probably only think it's decent because it IS at least 200X better than when I first took up recording and mixing my own music about a year ago. So how quickly you'll get posted depends entirely on your skills with composing, performing, mixing, recording etc. to meet OCR's standard and how many remixes the judges have to go through.

People Who Look like Video Game Characters
AngelCityOutlaw replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in General Discussion
Yeah! I googled it up and apparently, Lateef Crowder (guy in the video) is well known for his capoeira skills and resemblance to Eddy. Because of that, he was cast as eddy in the Tekken movie. He's also going to be in the last Twilight film lol. -
Holy Hell.........Eddy Gordo LIVES http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9lc-vckVnA That's just awesome. Any other people you can think of who look/act like video game characters? I'm not talking about freakin' cosplayers at your local comic convention I mean like people who legit just are like game characters.

Nvm, google reveals it's horseshit actually. He does do music but for some reason there's this rumor going around that he made that theme. Damn. =/

I have decided which tekken tune will enter the ring in the next WIP. Not gonna say what it is yet, but I think you guys will dig it. I've also been tweaking the mix, I made it louder, she's got more volume and punch now, but definitely not too much. I hope to have it posted tomorrow! -
Did you know that the annoying fat guy who hosts "inside the actor's studio" wrote the original Thundercats theme?
