  1. Gutsy! Reaching! Frickin' rocking, and I love the middle section's handling of the interweaving sections. It's like I'm getting dual-whipped by Castlevania goodness the entire time. Grab your stake and raise your whip - this does great justice with a take that needed to be really nailed to avoid falling down an endless precipice, and you nailed the jump. I swear I didn't mean to make this all full of Castlevania references. Damn impressive, guys.

  2. Wow, is this phenomenal. What a wonderful, inventive handling. My favorite part has to be 3:05-3:35, which shows downright masterful control and touch. I hear the John Williams analogies and they make sense, but at the same time I don't want to denigrate (how about that?!) this piece by merely saying it was in his fashion - this had touch and design far beyond a mere style parody.

    Good heavens was this impressive.

  3. A two-fer dip into some fantastic handling of core source material - really impressed to see this group extract this much fun and rocking out of these two themes. Transitions were crisp bordering on amazing (2:50-3:03 being the best example), and there's multiple sections of unique solos that aren't just random riffing but seem to be a natural extension of the core theme. A must for anyone who enjoys metal and/or Mega Man!

    Great job!!

  4. Points for style and execution here - man, I'm really impressed about the vision to remix this way and the moxie to pull it off. Really enjoy the adjustment sections (like 2:45-3:25); the handling reminds me of some of the best Doom remixes this site has. Yeah, maybe this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but then they're missing great guitar sections like 4:30-4:42 (so great!) as well as vocals to me that I don't need to hear the words, it's almost like another instrument.

    Unique and worth a listen!

  5. WOW. This is an absolute treat - a handling of one of the best themes of the entire game and of the entire FF series, in my opinion. And the remixer crushes it. The harmony playing behind 1:33-1:43, the gorgeous flute over 2:17-2:33 (goodness, the adjustments in that section are worth the entire listen), the little touches around the main theme just sing with emotion. It's funny, but this remix is so evidently handled by someone who really cares about the inherent theme, I didn't even need the description in the writeup. The ending does surprise me a bit, but the ride is so tremendous that even if you think it's different it still delivers. An absolute download.

Checking out the Kickstarter now. So happy to have heard this.

  6. A beautiful handling of the source material - moving and invigorating, all in one. I really enjoy the artist's ability to walk the line between re-creating an original and adding a whole new take on the source - it's eminently recognizable AND original, which I loved. Loving this!

It's all right that this sometimes passed-over gem from the OST doesn't have other representation on this site. After this, it doesn't need it.

  7. Holy crudmuffins, this remix is just oozing vibrancy and life, particularly from 1:28 or so on - every note and adjustment seems so important and focused. I absolutely love the interplay of the different instruments - the remixer just crushes the delicate balancing act of harder and softer pulls on the source. Lindsey Stirling was a great analogy; it's sometimes catchy, sometimes beautiful, and all-around unique. Well done.

  8. Wow!! This is really unique and awesome - I love the fact that all this emotion and feel is packed into a song that basically has less than 20 words of lyrics. It lets the words become almost another instrument, one with dark undercurrents but an ultimate destination, like a dangerous journey through space that still has a steady eye on a distant star. SUPER props for the walkdown at the end - a perfect way to ease out.

Special, distinct, unique. This remix crushed it!

  9. Excellent stuff here!! I admit that I am one of the heathens that isn't familiar with the source (though I'm liking the description), but I don't think you need to know the source at all to be caught up in all the goodness of this remix. I really enjoy the transitions here (such as 1:25-1:35) and the solo sections are arresting (particularly 3:10+ is bananas!). But my favorite thing of this remix is the way the heavier guitar mixes with the quieter throughline. It gives a real feel of depth and touch and allows this piece to shine beyond just having some nice sections. Special props for the 5:05+ quieting finish - the perfect way to go out, in my opinion!

    A surprise gem here!

  10. Wow, this is just wonderful. This takes what is already a nice, interesting piece and makes it into a practical suite. The handling of 1:05-2:32 has such power, and then 2:33 on changes it into such an amazing, delicate touch! In short, this really explores the piece and delivers a top-notch handling of a less common piece. I'm really, really impressed by the quality of the remix here - well done!!

  11. I am 100% behind this effort! Holy CRUDMUFFINS, this remixer went out there on a limb and CRUSHED it. Honestly, I find the crazy juxtaposition of the chiptunes and screamed vocals to be a really wild experience - and doubly so with the choice of source! This song really adjusts as it goes along too. I hope people give something so outside the norm a fair shot, because damn, this is an impressive concoction in both the idea and the delivery!

Thanks to the remixer for such an effort!

P.S. Really appreciated the lyrics clarification - I'm not so well versed on that type of metal that I can pick that all out. :)

  12. Wow, I don't know the original source well but I am DIGGING this arrangement - the adjustments and tone are wonderfully interwoven and the overarching mood seems like something out of Stranger Things, which I understand as intentional and this just crushes it. Wonderful sections at 1:45, an intriguing transition at 3:03 and liberal use of... everything... means there's something for everyone! Special props for the walkback in the final minute - I thought it put a great cap on it. If you want a unique sound and something better than the normal fare, you've got an instant download here!
