  1. My Round 2 entry for the 2013 WCRG. Detrusian Bliss (Needle Man vs Enker) Sources: Heart of Enker
  2. I insert a compressor on the bass, enable the sidechain, and send the bass drum to that sidechain, because that's how I "learned" how to make the bass drum clearer. But as with all things, I do it in a haphazard and random manner, and I actually can't hear any difference. I just do it, basically, just to do it. SHRUG.
  3. funfax: I named my track "Detrusian Bliss" after my fiancée's middle name cuz I picked her up at the airport last Friday after not seeing her for a year and I was like "I'm so happy to see you now I gotta get home and finish my mix" If anyone feels like feeding back, here's my mix on soundcloud moar funfax: I was stressed/freaked out for my round 1 entry so I heavily referenced the MIDI's but I did not do so at all for round 2 so I would like to celebrate this small victory by being sleepy
  4. Yep it's kind of awesome how Heath Ledger proved everyone wrong, not just wrong but unbelievably wrong (imo). It reminds me of the first time I saw Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and I thought he looked dumb and didn't have what it takes (I didn't even know who he was) but he proved ME wrong also because I loved his portrayal. Michael Keaton ftw
  5. I wonder if they'll cast J-Lo as Catwoman [hmm joke makes no sense] but in all jokingness, I can't wait to watch it on netflix
  6. I was collecting the bugs/shells/flowers and getting bells and stuff, but I began to wonder, "what's it all for?" (It's also the first AC game I've played) Alright I'll pick it up again. I refuse to accept that "this game is not for me" because I purchased a 3DS for this game after everyone on twitter was raving about it and I want to join in the general merriment! Maybe it's an acquired taste. I will continue playing until I acquire it. I must.
  7. I have a question, is it possible to enjoy this game in single player only? I have no friends in the game nor in real life, and I stopped playing a few weeks ago and haven't turned it on since .. so, I'm wondering, is most of the charm of the game in multi-player?
  8. I like the groove, but it's the same groove over and over again--the phrase in the bass and drums doesn't change much at all over the whole track, try adding variation. Other instruments come in and out but the bass and drums stay the same. The snare sound gets buried. I like how the track changes at 00:45 and 01:21, but it sounds off at 2:31, I'd guess it's problems with the key but I'm not sure. Keep at it
  9. I never got into pokemon, never played the games nor am I familiar with any of the music. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoy this mix. I also like the description of "percussive lullaby pop electronica." pH knows.
  10. congratz evktalo! and props to sggod89 for adding some competition I tried to incorporate both sources (not sure if it was very apparent). There wasn't much method to the madness this time due to no time (actually there typically is not much method to my madness anyway ), but I just tried to listen to both sources and incorporate both. I thought it was an interesting coincidence that both sources had a prominent descending 4 note phrase.
  11. Apologies for using cheapy headphones whilst at work and I can only give feedback from the perspective of a not-that-experienced person. I agree with Argle especially in the "there's something bland in the execution." It feels like everything could/needs to be bigger, especially the bass and drums (wish I could tell you how to better accomplish that). I second the suggestion to layer drum sounds. I hope you find the feedback you're looking for.
  12. I've had a musical background since I was young, continued it through high school and college, (I'm pretty sure I forgot ALL OF IT though). I started composing in 2009, when I kind of randomly decided I wanted to get my masters in music composition after seeing a Distant Worlds concert. I understandably didn't get accepted, and have been struggling ever since. It boggles my mind how young some of you are and how fast ya'llz progress, but despite my severe low self-esteem and ever persisting pessimism, ultimately my stubbornness won't let me quit
  13. If memory serves correctly (my memory's gotten pretty bad) I believe you were my #1 pick, just sayin Also, are the track names using "vs" from now on instead of "and" ?
  14. I can totally relate to this. Someone may ask' date=' "what's up with [i']this?" and I wouldn't have a clear cut answer, other than the one above. I think with practice and experience you'll start to have more and more distinct purposes for the sounds you put in your mix. But the title of your track was "Eye of the Storm," no? I only listened a little whilst I was at work, but, the wobble kind of sounds like, an impending whirlwind coming to tear through a town, much like that of a storm. Just watch out for dem falling sharks.
  15. guys I think I drank one too many light beers tonight .. feelin a little clipsy ..
  16. just clip it in, just clip it in. give it a little clippy. clip clip cliparoo.
  17. sigh I have a lot of 'life' happening in the next few days so I'm not sure if I'll make this .. but I also hate not participating so I'll do my best. side note: Most of the time, I don't put in a lot of time for these compos. Actually, the very first one I entered for Jazz Jackrabbit 2, I got "inspired" and stayed up until 3am making the remix, and ended up winning (beginner's luck of course, as evidenced by my many wooden spoons ). Since then, I mostly spend a few hours making the remix, usually because I run out of material quickly. I definitely would rather participate than not, but I do want to push myself to really put more time and effort into my mixes--I would get more out of it if I did. Just livejournaling out loud
  18. YA I saw that you and Rexy use it, and djp, Anti-Syne .. I have decided that it is now my dream .. to create great-sounding music .. using Cubase .. and I would like to achieve this dream .. by Sunday ..
  19. Since shadow24 asked about DAWs, I am curious, who else uses Cubase? [i'm watching the B&R reflections video, I'm surprised at how many people use it]
  20. I got SUPER into it at one point but it has significantly waned :/ When I remember to, I like to check some fighters' fight records to see how they're doing, or look for videos if I can find them. but at $50/pop I can't watch them live. At the peak of my enthusiasm I liked Lyoto Machida. but ya I'll talk MMA in exchange for music help haha
  21. Nice, I'll check it out--a release day from halc is always a good day Thursday is mah payday so hopefully I can throw something at ya also thanks for responding to me, I'm 'enteraudio' from the twitterz (my whole life is an identity crisis, I dunno what to call myself)
  22. codswallop, i was dead regardless of the source reveal so there. i sure showed him also, I appreciate the reviews @ therex, rnn, KT. I kind of feel like an MMA fighter whose opponent beat me due to superiorx stereo widening skills, and I need to practice stereo stereo stereo (in addition to, you know, all other aspects of production, and arrangement, and life) i'm trying
  23. It's kind of funny cuz, after I finished my track, I listened to it a bunch of times and I was like "aw yiss I'm proud of this it actually sounds pretty good" but after going thru the other tracks one by one and then came upon mine again, the production quality on mine all of a sudden sounded so inferior in comparison. not sure what smiley goes with this.
