  1. Everyone should own this game. It is the best third party Wii effort, bar-none. Get it now and support Capcom; a third-party Wii game that actually controls well is worthwhile, and I promise that given a few weeks, no one will be able to find the game.
  2. I don't think you'll actually learn anything from it. It seems to be more of a Spanish word game type of thing. I believe it includes a version of Hangman, actually. If you want to learn something, check out (I think I'm right about this) "My Spanish Coach" for DS in November. Sorry if that's not right, but either way, nothing tops "Spanish for Everyone."
  3. Okay, I work for GameStop, and in one of the local stores, someone returned "Spanish for Everyone" claiming it was exceedingly stereotypical. I figured he was an idiot or something, but to satisfy my curiosity, I popped it into a used DS system. It is unquestionably one of the funniest games ever. I didn't play the game itself, but the intro proceeds as described below: Basically, two kids are sitting on a sidewalk. One is playing his new DS (a white kid). The other (whose skin is darker, but not really indicative of any specific culture) asks to play it. The beginning mixes Spanish and English into the dialog, so a few Spanish words are found within. While the second kid is playing the DS, a limo pulls up and his dad tells him to get in. He does so, taking the DS with him (stealing it, in effect). The limo pulls away, and the DS's owner screams "No!" Then, just after the limo leaves the screen, it is followed by not one, but two police cars. Then a yellow car pulls up. A Spanish woman is inside, and tells the kid that she'll take him to retrieve his DS. The thief 'must be heading for Mexico,' so she'll "take him as far as Tijuana." It turns out that she is related to the kid (he's the nephew of her favorite brother-in-law if I recall correctly). Either way, they drive off, and thus the adventure begins. This is the *best* video game intro ever. Its stereotypical nature is like something off of Chapelle's Show or South Park, but it's in a kid's video game.
  4. FlagshipAmadeus, I just want you to know that I thoroughly regret having seen that image
  5. I don't think the December 3 release date is out. It is street dated in the GameStop computer; to clarify, that means that there is a date next to it, then a title (as there is with every game), and then it says (STD:12/03). Companies, to the best of my knowledge, never street date a game without it being official. That having been said, yesterday's post means that the worldwide release date is 12/3. Of course, this game could be the exception to the street date rule. I don't recall, though; did the release date section on the left ever actually say 12/3?
  6. I've been out of the loop since school resumed last month, and earlier this week a friend from work mentioned this compilation to me. This morning, I downloaded it, and have since listened to every track once or twice through. Overall, this is a very well done arrangement. Some of the tracks were admittedly a bit weaker than I'd hoped for, but the majority of the songs were quite well done. My only real complaint is that I felt the arrangements on certain songs were too liberal with the source material. That's not to say that the arrangements weren't good, but for whatever reason I prefered the PS1 midi version. I want to end on a positive note, so I will say that this is an excellent remix project (the biggest one on the site I believe), and is an impressive demonstration of the talents of 40+ musicians. Well done.
  7. Nothing's wrong with having a "painfully traditional" RPG ... if it's good. DQ8 is extraordinarily traditional, but it had enough innovation to keep thousands of players interested for 75+ hours. Blue Dragon has to be the single most generic RPG since the NES. If you haven't played it, read the character bios as a starting point. They seem remarkably familiar to the Tales series characters (Tales of Symphonia, specifically), but even more generic. Ultimately, I'm not even suggesting that BD sucks- it doesn't. It's beautiful, the soundtrack is excellent, and for what it is, it works well. That last one is the problem though. What it is is overkill traditional with little innovation, and that is what ultimately hurts the game.
  8. Just curious: how many of you played it through the first time on Veteran? I did. No, I'm not bragging; I'm complaining. Some of the bosses take forever. The game otherwise isn't too terribly difficult. I'm roughly 10 hours into it (feels like a lot more), and I have 56% complete. I have a love-hate relationship with it. I love exploring, I hate the bosses.
  9. The movie wasn't bad, and it did tie up the loose ends. It leaves room for a sequel while simultaneously being satisfying on its own. I was kind of expecting them to do an Evangelion-style existential analysis of Jack at some point in the movie, particularly when you first see him, but I guess most of the audience wouldn't get it. Of course, most of the audience probably didn't get everything anyway, and a lot of that has to do with some of the material not being fully explained. Overall, not as good as the first, but better than the second. Disney will probably get my $15 for the DVD in November.
  10. Wow. Great video; I, like many others, probably won't play KH3, at least not until I can get a PS3 for $150 or so. Until then, I'll be content with the recently announced 'Mushroom Kingdom Hearts' and its 41 playable characters. Sorry, but I couldn't resist. Forgive my transgression.
  11. Hey guys. I'm trying to burn a file to a dvd-r. According to the burning program, there should be enough space on the disc to do so, but in both RecordNow and Nero it tells me that I need to insert a disc with enough space and try again. Any recommendations?
  12. Wow. That was a lot easier than I expected it to be. Thanks; your help is greatly appreciated!
  13. I just finished downloading a file (500+ meg on dialup, and yes, my phone line was tied up for several days), but the file type is .rar. I know there is a way to open this, but I wasn't sure of exactly how to do so. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know how to take the file and transfer it into a folder or something so I have all of the individual mp3s. Thanks!
  14. My computer automatically downloaded an "update" for me last night and told me to reset. I turned it off, and when I turned it on again this afternoon, my Internet Explorer 6 had been replaced by 7, after I had repeatedly not taken it. Does anyone know how to get my address/search bar (located on the top) to move on 7? And does anyone know how to get rid of that stupid icon over my 'e' that makes it look like (e? Thanks.
  15. When I read the write-up about this song, I noticed that there was some question as to the origin of this piece and whether it came from an orchestral album or not. I feel that it should have. This song is downright amazing, and it surpasses the quality of many songs on the Final Fantasy arranged albums. It has this cinematic quality that no FF 7 arranged song on a professional album ever boasted. (Of course, there were only ever 3 arrannged songs on the FF Reunion Tracks album to begin with) This is a stunning piece of music that no one should miss. Download it NOW.
