  1. Thanks to everyone who tuned in. It was a pretty good show, despite the technical difficulties at the start, but once things got going they really got going. I'm tenatively scheduling the next broadcast for Saturday night, probably at the same time as this one. Hopefully I won't doze off beforehand this time and I'll be able to prepare more to avoid connection problems.
  2. BAM! Finally on the air. Sorry for the delay, folks! Technical difficulties are a bitch.
  3. Shiiiiiiiit! Sorry for those who've tuned in and heard NOTHING so far! I was getting really really tired earlier (I work 4 PM to 4 AM and I had just got off work) so I decided to try to sleep a little. Somehow managed to sleep through my REALLY LOUD POWER METAL ALARM. Needless to say, broadcast will be in 5 minutes!
  4. You can add me to the tenative list. I'm going to do everything within my fucking power to be there (I'm already regged for it), but things happen. Also, I, too, am looking for a room/roommate(s). Soooooooooo... add me to that list, too.
  5. Yes, that's correct. Until I'm actually linked up to it and broadcasting, it shouldn't be playing anything at all. Oh, and I'd like to make it clear to everyone that this isn't just some radio show where I do nothing but play my music. In fact, I'll be playing very very little of my music unless it's requested. This is mainly an outlet for me to introduce people to fantastic electronic music acts that they might not hear otherwise, as well as to give some sort of exposure for some of my inspirations. Otherwise, tonight's the night! Gearing up for it by freeing up some hard drive space to rip a shit ton of my CDs so I'll have even more material to work with.
  6. SIX HOUR BROADCAST - MONDAY, AUGUST 4TH @ 8:00 PM EST Upcoming broadcast this Monday, as mentioned in the thread topic! Planning on doing a 6-hour marathon broadcast, and I'm hoping to have Skype set up properly to allow for call-ins and the like. Who knows what else will happen? I'll probably be getting progressively more intoxicated with alcohol as the show goes on, so I'm sure it'll be a fun time. Don't miss out! More details about the Skype thing will follow.
  7. I have some pretty cool ideas for this thing to try to make it feel very official. Stay tuned for more while I work some of this crap out behind the scenes, so to speak.
  8. Figured I'd stick this in here for anyone interested. Decided to resume my internet radio DJing hobby. Rejoice! Went all out this time around with a fairly high quality stream (96 kbps stereo) and even managed to get a quality mic input. After tonight, I'm likely gonna bump the stream up to 128 kbps, because I'm pretty sure my connection can handle it. Anyway, stream is up right now, and I'm currently in the process of formulating a plan to make the stream a recurring thing. I mostly play electronic music of all kinds, whether professional, independent, or pulled right from video game soundtracks, but every now and then I throw some oddball tracks in there (rock, etc.). I take requests via AIM and #ocremix on ETG, so if you want to drop one by me, that's cool. I may or may not be able to honor it, but I'll do what I can. Just head to: http://beatdropfm.listen2myradio.com If you don't want to use the browser embedded player, after you load the page you can open it up in Winamp or WMP (or whatever else). Still working out the kinks, but it should come along nicely in the next few weeks. Welcoming feedback. Current DJs: Dain Olsen (Beatdrop) Larry Oji (Liontamer)
  9. Oh, you're that guy! Haha, I ran across one of those two (I think it was the Trillian one) after someone linked me to it. Cool stuff.
  10. I'M GETTIN' TIRED OF ALL THESE MOTHAFUCKIN BIRTHDAYS ON THIS MOTHAFUCKIN WEBSITE! Seriously though, Dave, happy birthday. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if it hadn't been for you and OCReMix, I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am today, getting licensed by Konami and shit. So thank you for the fantastic community and have an awesome fucking day.
  11. Wow, yeah, hella large bump. But it's all good Especially with me. Didn't think this thread was even on the boards still, but I guess things are slow going in the WIP boards. 12. YOUR ENGAGEMENTS AS OF LATE HAVE BEEN RIDICULOUS. Congrats on the soon-to-be-marriage!
  13. Just like zircon, I have jumped on the bandwagon and made a music page over at Facebook. I intend to update it continuously with new music, news, and other fun stuff, so check it out: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beatdrop/21990156495 Already added "Revolution" and "Burn Out" from the new album for streaming, and it sounds a hell of a lot better than it does on MySpace. Enjoy.
  14. http://www.myspace.com/Beatdrop Just updated my page a bit to suit the imminent completion of my latest album, 'Revolution.' Not sure exactly HOW imminent it is, but it's coming along pretty fast. All four tracks on there are from the album, the top two have never been available anywhere before. Enjoy, and as always, comments welcome.
  15. R:TS is freakin' sweet. Like Rama said, perfect place for n00bs and veterans alike to showcase remixes that might not quite be up to snuff as far as OCR's guidelines are concerned. I've got a remix up over there that most likely wouldn't have gotten onto OCR due to suffering from the dreaded "medleyitis." I'm likely going to submit a bunch of other unreleased and hard-to-find remixes over there.
  16. A little slow on the draw, here, but I, too, am mega happy to hear you're feeling a lot better and at home now. That's most excellent. Make sure to hit me up on AIM. Haven't talked to you one-to-one in YEARS.
  17. I actually rather enjoyed this movie. The editing was fantastic, the action was definitely up to snuff (the climactic ending gunfight in particular I thought was very near to rivaling The Lobby Scene from The Matrix), and some of the added comedic elements (what few there were) were actually quite amusing. I dunno, I'm a big fan of over-the-top movies in general--I bought a copy of The Machine Girl from Hot Topic, and it is fucking great--so it's expected that I'd enjoy this movie, but to be honest, when I saw the trailer, I thought it was gonna be stupid. So I went and paid to see Get Smart and then walked into the Wanted theater after it was over. I'll probably end up buying the DVD.
  18. http://beatdrop.paletteswap.com/Supernovatomic.zip Previously made available elsewhere. "Supernovatomic" from the album 'Everlast.' Have fun.
  19. Remind me to send you the FLP file for the intro of the song sometime. But to put it in writing, the intro was rendered as a wave file to be loaded into the main project, but itself consists of a sampler loaded with a grand piano, one loaded with an e-piano, and an organ. I rendered the section containing the piano notes I wanted to work with, and rendered it to an audio file. This audio file was then loaded into two instances of FL Slicer and two instances of FL Granulizer. The two seperate instances of each was to give myself two variants of time stretching to work with. I added in the slicing, and then dropped a long looped note on the Granulizer at C5 (base pitch). Since it's an FL native plugin, you can put note slides on it using the Piano Roll. So I added in a note slide which slowly causes the granular stretch to slide up to C6. Every other aspect of the stretched sound comes from the way I programmed the Granulizer's settings. Like I said, I'll send you the FLP for it sometime so you can take a peek. Just hit me up in IRC or on AIM
  20. Eh, my DJ mixes aren't really a big deal at all. I just throw them together for fun, and they're really infrequent. I don't even own a gig setup for DJing, unlike some other site-goers (ie GlobalTrance).
  21. OH THAT'S BULLSHIT We're getting trashed at MAG together. COUNT on it.
  22. Bumping this because I just read it and thought it was very cool. Extremely well written, and at first I didn't imagine I'd read the whole thing, but that's just when it started to grab my attention, just like the logs in System Shock 2. Ingenious planning, by the way. The complete plot line all the way up to the ending, what with the MYSTERY of where the Commander went and what she was doing and WHO WAS PHONE? Very cool stuff. I did catch another typo in the form of an extra word in one of the very last chapters, but I'm too lazy to go back and find it right now. Anyway, kudos.
