Very nice! This shall have an honored place among my playlists. However, I often felt throughout that it could use more male choir... baritone and bass-baritone... to lift the female choir up, knowhutimean. Live-action? How about (arguably) better-than-live CG? Check out Uematsu Nobou's "Yakusoku no Chi" from the FF:Advent Children soundtrack. I'm not sure if it had source material in the FF7 game, but who cares? It's a beautiful all-choir piece that accompanied the movie well, crafted by Nobou himself.

I liked the Recapitated one better. No really! I'm not kidding. Really. I'm serious. Why are you looking at me like that? I really mean it. I'm not joking here. That was a true statement. Really. REALLY. Seriously. For real. -

In the tea houses of Zen Monasteries, one will find that decorations are appreciated for their imperfections. Part of it is that it gives stuff more character... that it is a more accurate reflection of life and living... there's just something about it. This song immediately gained a special place on my playlists, for much the same reason. However, I think there are some improvements that can be made. For example, the music box and flute seem to always be at either 0% or 100% volume. Binary. On/off. I'd say that the flute could benefit greatly from some fades in and out, and the music box - well, you can't exactly make it do anything but go "ding!", but you can make it vary in how hard it dings. For example, at 1'03-1'05 there are three dings. Up... down up... Try putting those notes at, say, 100%, 20%, 60% volume. A nice detail would be to have each note - Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si - with a seperate volume, so whenever it hits that note it is always muted to the same point, like a worn-out old music box. -

Neato. This reminds me of the remixes Yasunori Matsuda did of the Chrono Trigger music, and is exactly the sort of thing OCR is made for. -

Sorry I can't better express my thoughts on this, but... DAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNNN -
FANTASTIC. Your previous Metal Gear rearrangement did not, imo, have the same kind of energy and climactic progression as [my favorite song of yours] Cosmo Canyon. This, however... this is a most worthy song. Also, you used taiko drums like taiko drums - in the earlier Metal Gear mix they felt more like how snare drums would be used, obviously a good thing! I especially like the transition at 2'51.

This song is really emotive and energetic! Oddly enough, it evokes much of the feeling of Donkey Kong Country. Laying something slow and solemn over a fast'n'furious electronic bass line does that, I suppose. Particularly the first 40 seconds, and the stretch from around 2'00-2'40. I don't think the electronic "bow-nene-bow" that starts at 0'50 fits though. EDIT: Weeks later I came back to say that this song has one of the best intro sequences evar. Figured I should post as much after the umpteenth time rewinding just to hear that first minute again. -

Hmm I can see the comment on it reminding of Castlevania, but... not really. It does bring to mind some of the tunes from The Lost Vikings 2, though. Especially the medieval area. -
The cannon+explosion at 3'58 I never noticed before is enough for me to stop working, listen again, open a browser, find the song, and post a comment... about how how awesome that cannon+explosion at 3'58 is. Ahmmyes. Like miniature M&Ms wrapped in a creeamy chocolate bar, with peanut butter, crunchy, Ahmmyes. That's Ka-Blamo.

Not my kinda music, but very well done. You can hear a lot of artistic skill in this song. -

Hmm I felt that this had a very nice intro, but as many have said, the synth guitar is... erk. It pains me. It's loud, rough, piercing, loud, and loud, and doesn't really fit in with the rest. I'd just scrap it and put something else in its place. -

The first third is perfect. The rest is merely good. -

Lovely song. I disagree with the previous poster on the bagpipe contrast. And on the synthetic bit, yes it does, but so does 95% of the sounds on OCR. shrug -

The strings, especially that lead violin or whatever it's supposed to be, really bothers me, as it has in previous Salzman songs. Other than that, I like it! The vocals and heavy drums in the beginning remind me of World of Warcraft, and of course the soundtrack to the Conan movies! Speaking of which, playing this song during Onyxia makes me laugh in ridicule. But hey, there's no shortage of game videos set to music way out of context! -
Took me a good bit to recognize the WoW part. Ah yes, there it is. I was kinda hoping the first WoW "remix" would be an elaboration on the Thunder Bluff music <3 It doesnt feel Warcrafty at all though. I suggest anyone who aims for that should listen, of course, to their soundtracks (available somewhere on blizzard.com or worldofwarcraft.com for free download), but also to the soundtrack to the CONAN MOVIES! Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, etc

OCR01376 - Sonic & Knuckles "Lava Reach"

I agree, this sounds like something you might hear on Sonic Adventure's (stellar) soundtrack, even though I don't much care for it myself. I will say that the "Now, it is time." is plain awesome. Thinking back to the Battery song, putting in those little phrases is one of your strongest points Jivemaster. "Now, it is time." -

I know it's a classic way to use those hard-to-use pure tones of the xylophone, but I still contend that said classic way (used at the beginning of the song) sounds really dumb. Still, I like it, I really do! -
OCR01385 - Doom "Purgatory"
Nobbynob Littlun replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
*steeples fingers* Eempressive. I really, really like the way this one starts out. I can't say anything about the rest except that it is well-executed. However, I would like to see an entire Doom song done in that beginning style. It makes me think of Metroid. Only eeeeeevil. -
OCR01384 - Ninja Gaiden "Basilisk Run"

Nice! Now for some irrelevant observations. You know, change a chord here and there, and this could be a zelda 64 gerudo song. Though, a lot of the times it reminds me muchly of Mega Man music, particularly Mega Man 2. -

The song is deep. -
OCR01380 - Landstalker "Rare Mineral Addict"

Hot crackers! Well. This has a complexity and head-explosion capacity that befits the fiendishly difficult puzzles that are Landstalker's signature. -
It is weird, but it all sounds so spontaneous and natural. He really capitalizes on the catchiest parts of the song big time too, I like how a lot of the weird stuff steps out of the way a bit so that its even easier for that part to get stuck in your head? Like at 1'02 and 1'22 (1'22 would have to be my favorite part)

<3 I hate this kind of song. But I love this song? It makes no sense! Normally I know exactly why I find a song appealing and can describe why in great detail. But I don't know why I love this song! Why? WHY?? Maybe it is because it is so happy. Or maybe because that female lead has such a sexy singy voice. I don't know!
