The samples are ALMOST making it seem like an arrangement using the game's soundchip... I'd say try to get some much more robust samples, much much more robust. Especially for that pipe organ. Those things can fill an entire Church and I think that's the kind of scale you should be going for, rather than a small pipe-organ sound. Make it sound huge. The arrangement so far is just the organ and the strings, and the strings were also pretty inhuman. There was a bad dischord at 0:32. You've got a long way to go but I love the Demon's Crest soundtrack so I wish you the best with this endeavor, good sir.

The other baby was me, Brandon Strader, who, in the most metal of fashions, was not merely born, but sliced from my mother's womb. Both of these babies were intended to be the last. In the case of Final Fantasy, however, many more followed as a result of the massive success of the first game... but that's another story. For the last two years, a group of brothers united in metal worked together to create the most brutal album to ever grace the halls of OverClocked ReMix. We are now honored to present Final Fantasy: Random Encounter on the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy. This album is the result of three things: 1) an immense love for Nobuo Uematsu and his work, 2) an immense love for metal, and 3) the kind of comraderie that only the most grim and frostbitten of metalheads will ever know. Words can't express the level of gratitude I have for everyone who helped this album become what it is today, and who continue to support the successive albums for Final Fantasy II and III. There's a lot of free VSTs you can get on the internets with a little bit of craftiness, but as a good hand full arsenal, I would suggest: magical8bitplug Peach Triforce Toad EWQL PLAY Free Edition (you might have to torrent this one, should be legal though) BTS Theremin That'll give you almost everything you need to make a 9bit remix or even some orchestration type stuff with the ewql. There's a lot more free vsts out there. It's just a matter of hearing about good ones and avoiding the poo.

Can you clarify slightly, do remixers who are invited to the project just get to contribute the song they've already made, or will they be able to claim and produce new songs as well?

Let the record show that everyone got defeated by someone who joined in January 2012 and only has 86 posts! Yet another reason not to underestimate people with low post counts who are unposted remixers.

I set my alarm for 10am, got up at 8:30am. :/ Then napped until 9:55am when I had a sudden feeling of "Dang, I hate Alarm Clock Extreme and I don't want to do math problems to disable it. I better get up." Don't count me out just yet, rendering takes a long time and I had to make a couple levels tweaks, but I should be in before noon.

Mine's all recorded, but if I don't wake up early enough tomorrow I'm gonna miss the deadline... gotta hit the bed now. I need to reamp the guitars tomorrow morning. Heck, I'll probably sleep until 10am. Then it'll be a struggle to mix it and I'm almost certain it'll end up with some glaring mixing problem that I won't have time to fix for the deadline. anyway wish me luck.

EH. The song is written (about 4:20 length) and I only have 1 more guitar solo to record, and bass guitar... but I can't HEAR THE SONG! I loaded up so many samples and FX that it just crackles and I can't hear it. Hmm if I disable some FX tracks it'll be listenable. But then still, I used so much stuff it's gonna take forever to mix and master it.

I could listen to Arch Enemy in winamp while playing any other game. You could too!

I don't know if I'm actually going to have my song done in time. I have about 2:30 but the sound is too epic for the song to be so short. I haven't really repeated anything yet so I may do a little bit of that.
