Probably you're right, it makes sense what you said about working with something I didn't create, but I have the mindset that if something is harder it makes you learn more and better (and also getting overloaded faster...) Working in something original could relief some of this boredom. (Which doesn't mean I don't like working on remixes, I love it even if I didn't submit anything to OCR yet, but I just can't get pass through some points) Thank you about that, I probably can use it in a tablet or laptop and could be a way to stay away from my computer/DAW as Chris said while I compose. My problem right now is my knowledge about music notation is not the best and I'm still learning about it, most of my knowledge comes from self-taught (In the conservatory what they're teaching me I already know it, I just need speed reading) but thank you Tim

Oh, it seems that its normal after all. Probably I should stay away from the DAW until I have the full idea (or part of it) on my head and save more often my works even if I don't like them that day. Also study more about the instruments that I'm about to use and try to do more creative stuff than doing remixes when I'm overloaded. Thanks everyone for the tips and answers.

Hi everyone. As the title says I found myself in loop when I'm trying to do a remix or even a original song. The loops start since the begining : I choose one song and then I do the main melody in piano, and next the harmony. What happens in this moment is that I get sick of my own work, it doesn't sound good to me, maybe is because I listen to it over and over and over and over again trying different instrumentation, pads or ideas. In that moment I just have to close everything and sometimes (most of the time) I don't even save my work because I hate it. Then time to choose another song, another song that probably I will hate. What I'm asking here is if I'm the only one who suffers this or it's normal? and how can I overcome it?

finished Punch-Out!!: Fight Theme - Guitar Cover
Jakos replied to JeffKekenj's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
It sounds great for me (great solo btw), even better than the original! looks promising, lets see what the other people think. -
Happy belated birthday If you haven't bought anything yet I would suggest you Dragon Quest IX and Radiant Historia, I find them entretetaining. Dragon Quest IX hasn't a great plot but you can still play after you complete the game doing random dungeons and has a lot items, and Radiant Historia got a good plot, and good game mechanics. You can also buy Bravely Second, buy I haven't played yet.

My nickname comes from the "Psittacus erithacus" also known as African grey parrot, but in spanish this parrot can also be called "yaco" wich in plural is "yacos". My nickname comes from that name but I change just 2 letters: Y to J and C to K = Jakos.

Oh good, how much chance there is to happen that? probably less than 1 % A good start rifting. I just reached level 70 in this season (probably 10 hours in game) time to start doing serious stuff.

I would go for the M-Audio Oxygen 25 between those 2. It has less knobs/pads but I think the quality of the M-Audio one is better. The USB MIDI keyboard that I use is also M-Audio and I didn't have any problem with it.

Season 2 Is about to end so... How is it going? I didn't have all the time to play that I would wanted to, so I just reached lvl paragon 63 and nothing special, just the rewards from the season.

For me was the song/remix wich made me feel that I wanted to do things like that for sure, was awesome. And then the song/remix that made me jump to start learning about remixing along with some songs from Danny. B was . The two have one thing in common, they born here, and that's how I discovered this community and started to learn.

"Musical Enthusiast" in need of advise
Jakos replied to Flam1ng Dem0n's topic in Music Composition & Production
Maybe a little bit late answer but better late than never. I learned to ride a bike without training wheels, and thanks to it (I think) I learned better and faster, but maybe not safer. I think that if you learn how to play any song by MIDI instead of trying to learn the song by ear you don't learn the things that you would be able to learn the other way. That doesn't mean being a "masochistic individual", I just believe in the confort zone, and if you don't push yourself and prefer to do the easier things, probably you will get to a point where you can't still learning that way. Also the poster asks for help to improve his music creation/composition skills, and I think that by just copying you don't improve, and less in terms of composition where you need a good ear. That's my opinion. -
The expansion is very good, the thing I like most is the campaing (Of course, the OST is awesome, I love Malthael) and the transmogrification. I find those 20 $ a good inversion.

Hurry! (Final Fantasy VII) was the first song that came to my mind. This song gives me the sense of danger, and also the sensation that I should think and act faster.Hope it's useful

I just ended watching HXH and I agree with that totally. The chimera Ant arc was so... intense in the sense of feelings, I felt sad when it ended because it was so good at the end. There should be a Hunter x Hunter 2 in the future with the most recent episodes in the manga.

Something like this is just what I wanted time ago! Thanks

+1Best of Times - World of Goo is one song that at the beginning it makes me feel a little bit afraid, but then, the song tells me that there's light in the dark and you can confront it, be ready for it. (At least is what I feel, I didn't played World of Goo)

from FF7.It makes me feel like finally I'm on the home straight, you just need to make your last effort to defeat Sephiroth finally. It makes you feel like the all the things that you have done along the game are nothing compared to this, and you have the enough strength to keep pushing until the end. No one can defeat your determination right now. So basically, this song makes me feel determined to something, and gives me strength to make things when I'm off. Sometimes I even listen to it on the gym.

Go for it, don't push your self too much My way to 70 HC was slooooow but "safe-ish"

Well, I own for my own a M-Audio Axiom 49 2nd Gen and I also play real piano from time to time. There's difference between semi-weighted keys and full weighted keys, and the difference is because of the hammers of the piano, they have their own weight. I think that a full weighted keys MIDI keyboard doesn't exist because of what I told you, so semi weighted keys are the closest thing you will find. The bad thing are the pedals, but if you don't use too much the pedals apart from the sustain pedal, you'll be fine. You can also probably try some keyboards in your closest musical store to feel the difference, but you get used to it. EDIT: I just found that, MIDI hammer-action weigthed keys keyboards exist. You should search more about it, but they're expensive

Well, if someone wants to play this season with me I can give my battletag, just PM me.

Let's go for it! This season I will try to get all the new stuff they add

"Musical Enthusiast" in need of advise
Jakos replied to Flam1ng Dem0n's topic in Music Composition & Production
This is a good advice and that's what I usually do, also doing the things that Neblix said: That way It will become a REMIX and don't a REMAKE. But I will say one thing about what DOOM said; don't take the MIDI file, train your ear and play it by yourself, that way you'll learn a lot, trust me. -
Fit Club ahoy! Where men are bros and women are also bros!
Jakos replied to OceansAndrew's topic in General Discussion
I think the worst time is the two first weeks. If you can survive that then half of the path is done I think. Just keep going and don't push yourself too much this month or maybe the two first months. The diet and the focus on muscular groups comes later, but if you can start sooner, the better, specially the diet, depends on what you want to achieve. Good Luck! -
finished Final Fantasy main theme [orchestral]
Jakos replied to Dissidia's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
It's hard to say if a song that's already been made orchestral, could be like you say, a remix. I think it's more a remake than a remix and that's not bad, I really like your mix and like T3KYO said, it make me wanna play FF again, specially FF 12 (which is specially what comes to my mind when I hear it). Add something special to it, make it unique some way. And I also think you have the enough skills to make it after listening to that song. Keep going!
