  1. The only thing FL has that REAPER doesn't is a pattern sequencer, but that's pretty much a crutch and isn't at all necessary. All the pattern sequencer does is speed up the process of sequencing repetitive stuff, which is handy for making technos. You can still do all the same stuff it's just a little bit faster in FL.
  2. Ahh the age old question. Let me break it down scientifically. Reason comes with a large collection of samples and synths right out of the box. FL comes with a small handful of basic (though very powerful) synths and a paltry collection of mediocre one-shot samples. FL is nearly infinitely expandable right out of the box through its implementation of VST technology. There are thousands upon thousands of great, free VST instruments and effects. Reason is only expandable through soundfonts and proprietary ReFills that cost lots of $$$. FL can record audio. Reason can not. FL has probably the best sequencing interface in the industry. Reason has a clunky interface that hasn't improved at all in 8 years. FL gets regular updates that drastically improve performance and functionality. Reason hasn't changed at all in 8 years. FL has 64 routable FX channels and 4 dedicated send channels. Reason has one basic mixer. FL can act as a ReWire host or client and can be loaded as a VSTi in other hosts. Reason can act as a ReWire client. FL has automation clips and control links which make automating and controlling things a breeze. Reason smells funny and has a stupid logo. FL has Soulja Boy. Reason has cancer. So... the obvious answer is... Neither. Use Cockos REAPER instead. It's probably more powerful than either of them, and it's free.
  3. (parental advisory: explicit lyrics, fat guys wearing hats, etc) schaffer the darklord introduces: suck my wallet: publishing rights: more videos if/when i find them
  4. So I'm finally rested up from 3 solid days of awesome and now it's time to look back and recap. In short: A+ would attend again. Highlights: Finally meeting and hanging out with Beefy and Kasparov, performing with those two and Ricky and Shael, being introduced by and performing with Schaffer the Darklord, breakfast with Schaffer and MC Frontalot, dinner with The Megas and I Fight Dragons, Kabuto the Python performing with Mad Hatter and Doc Awkward, being introduced on stage as "suzumebachi from overclocked remix" and the crowd going fucking apeshit, the view. Nerdapalooza was freaking awesome despite some logistics/technical problems. Pretty much the best weekend of my life. So, who else from OCR was there?
  5. for some reason i thought OA was already a judge. he just seems like a judge-ish kinda guy. anyways! grats bro

  7. CNN says he's not dead, but comatose. But considering he had cardiac arrest, it doesn't look good.:sad:
  8. obligatory The Grammar Club - Red Cyclone (Vocal Version) as far as "video game rappers" specifically i only know of a few. off the top of my head there's MadHatter and Mega Ran. also of course Disk Mastah Smokabitch. nerd rap in general though... where do we start?
  9. holy CRAP this brings back memories. not particularly good ones either. i remember that IMC... my song was such crap! what have you done!?
  10. Here you go. http://hosting.thasauce.net/suzumebachi/sz_DKC2-Ice_11.mp3 Not quite finished. One day I'll get around to it. It was supposed to be for the DKC 2 project, but as you can see, I have been replaced. I don't get no respect. No respect I tell ya.
  11. I claim: and/or pretty much the same song.
  12. Hows about an optional twitter icon on the user info bar that links to a board member's twitter account, ala the facebook and myspace ones that already exist? I mean, OCR itself twitters, it only makes sense, right?
  13. why hello there! welcome to overclocked remix!
  14. mu voice is pretty good for that. it also does auto-harmonies and other fun stuff. downside is it isn't free, and the interface is a huge pain in the ass.
  15. So I saw this movie yesterday. I've been an fan of Star Trek since I was a wee boy. I wasn't sure about this movie going into it, but I am also a fan of Zachary Quinto (<3 Heroes) so I decided to give it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't suck. On the contrary, I actually thought it was quite good... when you take it as separate from the previous canon. Obviously there are some significant departures from the original storyline, and some things in that regard seem rather forced. But on its own, it stands quite well. That said, I'm curious as to how they're going to reconcile this new storyline with the old one.

  17. I'm a horrible alt whore. Maybe it's time I came clean. Let's see... In real life, I go by my real name (or any of its derivatives). You can call me "F" if your name happens to be Nick Carter. Or you are a pretty girl. Or a dude big enough to kick my ass. On the internets, what you call me depends on where you are: At OCR/VGMix/ThaSauce/OUS I'm usually just Suzumebachi but I was going by Tyberius for a while there (though pretty much only on IRC) In various chat channels where I wish to remain at least somewhat anonymous I am Grundybear. In StarCraft I am MEATBALL. In TF2 I am usually just Suzumebachi but sometimes TyberiusREX. In many other games I go by either TyberiusREX or TyberiusH. In World of Warcraft I am Grundyman and/or Wolfenleid (amongst many others-- though I haven't played in a while). At LAN parties I go by Hornet. On AIM I am SamuraiHornet. When I am trolling IRC I am a man of many faces, including but definitely not limited to: bismuth83, Kumabachi, Ghost64, or Suzumebachi. As far as my music goes, I have released stuff under numerous pseudonyms/aliases. Serious business musics: Suzumebachi - this is what I use for most stuff, especially at OCR and other community places (obviously) Mozyiac - my current IRL band Lead Sol/Saving Saturday/Cartoon Kids - previous IRL bands Alt names I use for one-hour compos, netlabel releases, or other less important things: Tyberius REX - industrial/metal shit Tyberius - classic rock-ish shit, also chiptunes MFSnakes - cheesepop shit. was supposed to be a secret e-band project but ended up just being me in the end Masterbeta - funk shit. see MFSnakes Beaten Bishop - terrible chiptune based rock shit Disciplining Percy - haha hahahahaha dotyug - snicker Team Bisquick - double snicker MC Neckbeard/Big Daddy Osmosis - rap names (seriously) For the express purpose of trolling (all in good fun) I have released music as: KOIndustry Polymer89 disciplining percy (long ago before I started using it as just a joke name to release crap OHC songs under DP was an actual trollish e-band starring myself and several other misfits who will remain nameless at this juncture... though you probably already know who they are) Also all in good fun I have impersonated or lampooned people for various joke projects: Kaijin & Mustin - sorry bros mellogear - sorry jon FFmusic Dj - sorry haroon Children of the Washing Machine - sorry matt smh - sorry sam djquetzl - sorry dave Not sure why I use so many aliases. Probably comes with this terrible compulsion I have to categorize things constantly, so I end up categorizing my music and obtuse personality traits into alts along the way. I'd been considering changing my name at OCR for a long time, but now I feel like there's less of a need to do so. Maybe I'm just getting more mature and accepting of my multiplicitous nature. Anyways, there's probably some I left out, but there you have it.
