Sega Genisis sound fonts/VSTs
suzumebachi replied to Kiro Dragoon's topic in Music Composition & Production
Oh lord, why would anyone want soundfont samples of FM synthesizers? For Genesis/Mega Drive your best bet is to get the VOPM VSTi (which is free). It's not modeled on YM2612 specifically, but it is modeled on YM2151 which is pretty close. It should be able to do the job. If you want to go for like a SNES sound, just use some small, short, 32khz 16-bit samples in any sampler that has gaussian interpolation. Or in a tracker. Or for super authenticity, you can even track your stuff in XM and then use eKid's XMSNES. Looks like XMSNES isn't going to be developed any more though . Maybe there's some alternative out there somewhere... -

what Haroon said. I also have some theme suggestions. [Langrisser II] Erwin / Kaiser Bernhardt [shining Force II] The Shining Force (Sir Astral) / The Devil Kings (Zeon) -
Everyone who was there who I didn't meet. Which apparently includes Upthorn. I didn't even know you were there bro. What the hell! I only briefly met Cyril the Wolf but I think he was a bit sloshed at the time. Who else was there that I never got the chance to meet?

21fx - an example through emulation of what SNES was capable of
suzumebachi replied to Level 99's topic in General Discussion
This is pretty much one of the neatest things I've heard about in an age. Makes me want to go forward with my lifelong goal of making a series of gratuitously violent sports games for the SNES. Also, just replacing original in-game music with suitable OC ReMixes would be fun. -
How is it every time one of these threads comes up, this masterpiece always gets overlooked.

I have a lot of goals. To finish a full Shael Riley & the Double Ice Backfire album. To finish a full Mozyiac album. To create, co-write and produce a hip-hop album with MF Snakes. To produce a techno unts unts unts album for injury. To co-headline a UK tour with SRTDIB. All of these are easily within the realm of possibility. But it's hard to find time to work on them. My goal for 2010 is to find the time to do ALL the things I want to do. If it takes withdrawing from society and living in a dungeon for a year, so be it.

How would YOU make this game?
suzumebachi replied to The Legendary Zoltan's topic in General Discussion
same here... mediafire has been sucking a lot lately. for the past month or so every mediafire link i click somehow ends up on some "connection: close" page. -
so I'm thinking we should organize a listening party (ie: we all meet up in #thasauce on irc.enterthegame.com some time and play the songs in sync and stream of consciousness babble about how much we like them as we listen, for those of you infamiliar with the concept). what do you guys think would be a good time? sometime this weekend would be good. thoughts?

So, here's a bunch of suggestions I've had rolling around in my head. My suggestion for the "Title Theme" as previously noted is either Alcahest - Title Screen (track 2) or Zelda 3 - Opening Demo (track 2) or some combination of the two. Yes I am that specific. They are similar in texture and even in melody and progression so it's not like it'd be impossible. My suggestion for the "Opening Theme" (I realize you already listed one but I'm making a suggestion anyways) is Terranigma - Light and Darkness (track 2). How perfect would that be? Not only does the track's title fit perfectly, and not only is it an awesome epic track, you could begin and end with Terranigma. It's symmetry! It's fate! My suggestion for "Character Theme #4" is Romancing SaGa 3 - Mikhael's Theme (track eight). My suggestion for "Final Battle, Pt. 2" is Chrono Cross - Dragon God. Now, in order to form a more perfect and complete RPG soundtrack you're still missing a few parts. For one, you need a "Fanfare" theme (after you win a fight). My suggestion is Plok! - Rocket Launcher (track 6). Also what would be cool is some kind of "Sea Theme." The music that plays when your main party inevitably goes to another continent for the first time on a rickety old sailing ship. My suggestion is Nobunaga no yabou: Bushou fuun roku - Oda's Theme. And of course, the main characters will inevitably be attacked by some kind of giant sea monster along the way. For a "Sea Battle" theme I suggest Xenogears - Stage of Death. Also you need the obligatory "Minigame/Circus" theme. I suggest Do-Re-Mi Fantasy - Dessert Paradise (track 13). Obligatory "Mysterious Forest" theme: Cardmaster - Silent Forest of Doubt (track 26). And of course, no RPG is complete without a "You Died/Game Over/Continue?" theme. No specific suggestion for this from me. So many things to choose from... And there you have it. I'd claim a track now but I'm already obligated to two other projects not even counting DIBF. Depending on what kind of time frame you're looking at I might take one though.

Man if I knew how to work the turn tables at all I'd totally do a live version of Rubber Duckman and like scratch the vocal samples and stuff.

I am having difficulty parsing your legalese. Particularly: "Links to where music can be acquired by active members of the community, video game or original material, i.e. a thread for a commercial album that may be purchased by a member of the community" Do you mean music by active members of the community? Or do you mean music that active members of the community can acquire? The latter is what I'm getting out of this even though it doesn't make any sense.
