  4. this thread still lives? anyway, i dunno if this has been posted yet, but Legend of Princess - a short but fantastic zelda satire in the style of 16-bit hack n slash. also pretty great is Noitu Love by the same dude oh and while i'm at it, Journey to the Center of the Earth is a gem too (yes the download site is in moon runes but not impossible to figure out)

  7. hay guys wut r we talkin about i couldnt load ur videos
  8. I dunno, a lot of the audio interfaces I've been looking at in my search for a replacement have been USB 1.1. Also, I never had any problems hotplugging my Saffire LE, but it's bus powered (though it does also have the option to run off an external DC adapter). Also, I would just like to say that Focusrite's drivers are absolutely tops, at least for the Saffire line. Seriously, they have the driver thing NAILED. Saffire drivers for Vista x64 are literally 1.5 mb and perfectly stable. I would probably have gotten another Saffire LE but sadly they discontinued it, and the newer Saffire models fall a little short of its greatness. It's a little weird to be praising an audio interface that up and died on me, but what can I say, it was GREAT while it lasted. Anyway, still waiting to hear from LuIzA about why I shouldn't get a Fast Track Ultra. :3 still lookin for a new AI damn meds starting to ramble i better hit the submit reply button before this post gets 3 pages long
  9. I was actually just thinking about getting an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. What's wrong with it? Anyway this thread is relevant to interests. My Focusrite Saffire LE died and I need a replacement. I'm leaning towards a USB interface but not for any of the reasons Brad mentioned. Firewire is fine. Just as good as USB 2.0 for audio. The problem with USB audio interfaces is most of them are USB 1.1 which does not hold a candle to Firewire and they often neglect to tell you they're USB 1.1 unless you dig through all the technical specifications. There are USB 2.0 interfaces but they're actually not that common (and when they ARE 2.0 it's usually a big selling point in great big bold text). USB also has data collision issues that Firewire doesn't have, though this isn't a problem if your only other USB device is a mouse. Also, bad drivers aren't Firewire's fault, they're the manufacturer's. And I don't know what you're talking about with the hotplugging. tl;dr both Firewire and USB 2.0 are fine The reason I'm leaning toward USB is because the cheap ass little 4-pin miniature Firewire port fucking Sony built into my laptop is a flaming piece of shit and if you even BLOW ON IT let alone BUMP IT it will often cut out which is REALLY REALLY BAD WHEN IT HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHOW WHY COULDN'T THEY PUT A REGULAR SIZE FUCKING FIREWIRE JACK ON THERE WHAT THE FUCK IT'S NO BIGGER THAN A FUCKING USB PORT AND THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM PUTTING FUCKING USB PORTS ON THERE BUT NOT REGULAR FUCKING FIREWIRE WHAT THE FUCK SONY WHAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN so a USB audio interface it is.
  10. you could always do some clever sampling. with slicing and processing just about anything can be turned into a hip hop beat.
  11. renoise eh? then you're already familiar with trackers. might i suggest famitracker?
  12. ooh a topic that i can relate to. allow me to introduce myself. my name is Ty "Suzumebachi" Guenley. my pseudonym is horrible. my real name is horrible. lose/lose. at least "The Otaku" is pronounceable. i've tossed around the idea of changing my pseudonym before, and have used a few others in certain cases, but i've been using this handle for so long now though that trying to go back and change it everywhere would be silly. lately, in some internet circles i've been using a shorter form of my pseudonym ("suzums") and while it's probably an improvement, it's also still silly and i seem to get mistaken for an lady a lot. what should i do guise?
  13. or just upload em somewhere and share em with everyone i've got space if you need it
  14. First off, I hear a lot of interference. Are you facing your monitor while you play? Try sitting at an angle from your monitor and see if that helps.
  15. Shit, I never would have thought of recording line out from an amp and running it through a cab sim... That's like best of both worlds. When I first got into recording guitars I tried line out from one of my amps and it sounded dry and horrible, but I didn't know about cab sims and stuff (if they even existed) at the time. The only half decent amp I have anymore though is an older Ibanez 100w stage combo. Awesome for gigging but not the best studio amp to say the least. So I dunno how much good that would really do me.
  16. Am I the only person who can't stand the tone of acoustic-electrics? Many years ago when I was a total guitar noob, I heard about the magical acoustic-electric guitar and thought to myself, "Wow! I can get that yummy acoustic guitar sound through an amplifier." So I saved up enough money to buy an Ibanez Artwood A/E. A pretty penny at the time. Took it home, plugged it into my little practice amp, strummed a chord, and immediately went into a suicidal depression. Then I had another thought. "Wait, what if I run it through some distortion? Maybe it'll at least make a decent electric practice guitar." So that's what I did. Then I vomited. Most horrible guitar sound ever. The moral of this story: Keep the acoustics acoustic and the electrics electric.
  17. After having toyed with most of the above at one point or another, I find myself using Guitar Rig the most. It's the easiest to tweak to get it to sound good and fit well in a mix, in my opinion. Amplitube and Overloud both have the same problem for me. They both work pretty well for lead tones, but suddenly suck when you want to play rhythm. The high gain tube emulations just don't sound natural to me. They have very strange attacks that tend to mud up your rhythms, especially when playing at faster speeds. Line 6... I've never used POD Farm but I do own a GearBox. It is a hunk of shit. I'd go into detail but I don't want to get an ulcer.
