  1. Bit of an odd one here - it's a concept piece inspired by Solaire and his unwavering faith and love for the sun. I tried to empathise with that feeling of pure enamourment and immediately thought of my wife, which made writing lyrics really easy. Musically, it's a bit on the heavy side, but I think there's something there for everyone, if you're not too limited in your tastes. I'd adore some feedback, whether it's about structure, the mix or even tones. Though, please keep in mind that this is only about 80% complete - I'm touching and tweaking the middle bit and some of the vocals need a bit of a polish/ re-recording. Thanks in advance - lyrics are at the bottom. Lyrics: With the thirst of the flora, I open my arms, Craving aurora, I yearn for the sun. *Chorus* Faith and honour, as pure as the water, As sure as I suffer, I will burn until I'm bone. Faith and honour, as pure as the water, Sure as I will suffer, I will never die alone. The grace of another, The failing of want, Through an end sought together, I become the sun. *Chorus* My faith bathes me with fire, (When I can't feel your warmth) My faith blinds me with light, (When all I see is dark) My faith bathes me with fire, (When death has overcome) My faith blinds me with light, (When I can't see the sun) *Chorus*
  2. Fuggin' love me some Phantasy Star and the amount of work you're undertaking is wild, but commendable. It's sounding great so far - really enjoyed "Bracky News". I'm always happy to give feedback or constructive criticism, but I kind of want to walk away from this and come back when it's all done so I can just sit and enjoy the whole album. One piece of advice I can offer, though, is that the original soundtrack is perfectly suitable, contextually, whether it's supposed to be conveying emotion, or just there to amble along as dungeon BGM (something "Secret Ways" does brilliantly). Just trust your ears and your feels and go for it - or better yet, finish the game , though as both an adult and a Dad, I can appreciate how that might not be possible. Either way, good luck and keep up the good work!
  3. Thanks very much! I was anxious about the mix, but if it sounds good enough to get someone's feet moving, then I'm very happy with that. It's a different composer, but NiGHTS is from Sonic Team and even Yuji Naka, AKA Papa Sonic. If you ever get the chance, at least check out NiGHTS Into Dreams on PSN/ XBL, if you can. Journey of Dreams was OKAY.... but literally just okay. Anyway, thanks again - onto the next one!
  4. This is absolutely gorgeous. It's like the perfect version - no hyperbole. Be very proud of your work. Looking forward to the credits theme!
  5. For section A, I see what you mean - I think it works as it is, but it probably could be enhanced with a bit of low end (form of pad or bass) coming in on a gradiant, really taking hold at around 00:54. Still, like I said, it is nice as it is and could well be an instance where less is more. As for section E, you're going to hate me for this, but I think what it needs is that one final crescendo, and just go all out in it (similar to 01:35, but padded out) before cutting out at 04:48. Similar to the original, but with a little less restraint. It'd be a lot of work, ... but it might sound amazing. Also, can I just say how good this is, overall, and that 02:20 - 02:40 especially is lush AF. Keep up the great work!
  6. Hi, So I've decided to finally have a proper go at the remixing and VGM thing, after some prompting from fellow band members and friends. I've done a remix of "NiGHTS and Reala", which I'd love some objective feedback on from people who don't know me. Apologies if this isn't the place for it, but it seemed the most appropriate thread as I'm reaching out to the community. I'm aware it's very similar to the source material, but that's because a) there's no comparison to the source material, and b) I just wanted to jam along with what I knew, to get started. Otherwise, all and any criticism is welcome - thanks very much! Filidecht
