Groundhog Day is a huge Holiday at the Strader households! I would like to wish you all a great Groundhog Day, later we can discuss the outcome of the Groundhog's forecast and in the coming weeks, see how accurate it was. The news is already forecasting more snow for this area, so I can see the Groundhog potentially going in that area as well. We'll see!

But in all seriousness I'm psyched that you took Force Your Way. I can see you doing a pretty kick ass remix of that tune. Also depending on what kind of stuff you need, I'd love to be a small part of that massive collab you're talking about (like doing some guitar or bass or something).

I'm pretty surprised that Breezy isn't on this list. Looking forward to seeing what other tracks people claim that also aren't on the list. But I do hope someone does a nice Breezy remix

Ok, I wrote a quick post this morning because I needed to go to work, here's a longer post:
A good remix of Force Your Way doesn't exist...yet. The Black Mages version is awful, and the Dissidia Duodecim version doesn't utilize the good points of the theme. There are a few decent ones on Youtube by random people. But none of them is creative enough. The theme has a few awesome elements that are under-utilized even in the actual theme, and that's one of the reasons I don't like Nobuo's compositions and why I rarely remix FF. But I'll make an exception this time because FF8 is the most fun FF game next to FF12 (and FFX-2 if you count spinoffs).
What I had in mind will probably require a massive collab. I'll post the exact details once I'm done with a midi arrangement. Force Your Way is by far the best boss theme in the whole FF series (even though, like I said, Nobuo fucked it up), and it deserves treatment as such.
Get ready.

Whooooaaaa this is super exciting! I've been waiting for an FF8 album to come out of OCR for a while now. Brandon, you're constantly doing new album projects. What a bad ass.
I know I haven't had anything posted to the main OCR page yet. Hopefully that will change with my next DoD entry which is sounding way better than the other stuff I've done so far. But I'm doing a track for the FF3 album (I just got back from traveling for work this week too so I've been working on an arrangement that I hope will kick ass).
Would it be possible for me to claim The Landing? I've actually kind of been working on an arrangement of that for a couple of months now but haven't had a reason to move forward with it yet. Again, I'm totally find with submitting my stems for mixing/mastering. Not sure I'd be able to throw a solid audition of this particular arrangement down before MAGFest though. For the next two weeks I want to focus on the track I'm doing for FF3 and my MAGFest DoD entry. But I'd be honored to take on a track for this album.
I'm also up for laying down some guitars for anyone else's remix or collaborating in general.

GroupMe FTW. So in order to join a group, I believe you have to either have a direct link to it or be invited. Not sure if you can just straight up search for groups.
Fun fact: Groupme was originally built at a hackathon using the company I work for's API  good shit.

Hell yeah!!!! This is mad exciting. I really hope everyone from OCR who's gonna be at magfest enters at the very least. Ideally I would really love to see a bigger OCRemix presence in DoD but that's just wishful thinking. Instead of doing 10 remix albums, why not do one with a track from every anniversary game? Could be cool.

It's a free month with one condition: NO SOLO ENTRIES! You have to collaborate with someone. Or bring your band. No entry should feature a single person, because this is Collaboration Month, period. In the spirit of the theme, the banner was made by a group of Anonymous DoD Artists.
The listening party is gonna be held live at MAGFest 2016! Get to Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland on February 18-21 and join us at the celebration of all things VGM. Gonna be fun.

The theme is awesome. And I hope we get some more OCR people. People who can't play an instrument could now collab with people who can.
Btw, I talked with streifig a bit and we had the idea for some sort of "artist matchmaking" thing to help people find collab partners. So, if you have great arrangement ideas but need someone to record guitar, help you with orchestration or do the mixing, we might be able to help.
I'll post more details once we figure out exactly how it's gonna be done.

No brilliant arrangement ideas just yet, and I'm not gonna be the one that collabs with live instrument (apart from human whistling)

I can play synths for anyone interested.
EDIT: I can also collaborate on an arrangement too, I just don't plan on writing one myself haha.

Sometimes, you just want to listen to all the OCremix songs. Though when you play it via OCremix's youtube page they have talk-backs/samples/trailers. What I did was went back and added over 1.4k songs to a playlist that I update regularly.

This idea that what motivates people to do something bad is irrelevant is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've ever heard. 

Yeah man that was an awesome set! You guys, Mountain Chiefs and The X Hunters totally killed it. I am indeed the guy who convinced you to take the sri racha shot, and I think Travis from Viking Guitar also took one as well as a few other people. Contra races were a blast and my buddy speedrunning MMX was also rad. All in all a pretty sick weekend. 
I was way too hungover once to make it out to Brooklyn to catch you guys again once I got back to the city though Hopefully we'll all party at MAGFest again!

I seriously think this is a pretty genius approach to a tune that has been done a million times. Still comes out sounding funky fresh.
