  1. •*•LONG OVERDUE UPDATE•*• HELLO EVERYBODY!! (that's right bee-hatches, two exclamation marks, count 'em) I've been away for a little while now, what with one thing and another. My day job, getting sick, and most recently a broken computer have been conspiring to stop me from doing anything on here. But my day job has calmed down, I'm not sick any more. and my computer's been repaired. So now hopefully I can jump back in and actually directly contribute to the project I'm directing. I apologise to everybody who's been wanting to speak to me. I also owe a debt of gratitude towards @Trism who has once again stepped up to the mark in my absence. As a co-director I couldn't ask for much better. Without you guys this project wouldn't be doing so well. I'll be PM'ing everybody individually over the next couple days; just to discuss the track you're working on, and how to kick off the new year after the inevitable holiday calm period. Moving onwards, a bit of news/info on the album's progress. We now have: 14 complete tracks 4 Tracks that are so near completion, they're basically complete 12 tracks well into the WIP stage. Unfortunately, we've had three tracks revert to unclaimed. They are: xx Beruga - Claimed by Ganaé Freedom Castle I've listed them in preferred order of claim if anybody's interested. If you're not familiar with Terranigma, a couple of those tracks are especially significant in the game. Despite ending on a negative tip, the positivity of the first batch of info is very encouraging. Everybody appears to be very invested in their remixes, and general morale seems very high. All in all, we're doing remarkably schedule-wise. All going well, and we have no hiccups, I'll be discussing in February with most musicians about wrapping up their tracks and/or requesting all the other things like blurbs, permissions, etcetc. Except, of course for later adopters. Exciting times! Sincerest best wishes to each of you over this festive period, be merry and be safe. and here's to 2017 where we'll be looking at tying this steed up! EDIT: Ganaé has claimed Beruga
  2. For the record, I second @Jorito and @HankTheSpankTankJankerson. Both have worked, and are continuing to work very hard on mine and @Trism's Paths Less Travelled album, overcoming obstacles and persevering with vision in their directions. They're also very skilled at what they do. Also I've worked beneath Jorito on the Sonic album, and it went tremendously smoothly. I think they'll make an excellent pairing to take this album forward. So... yeah. Aaron and Jorrith FTW in my humble opinion.
  3. Cheers Shigsy, hope you have as much joy today as you've shared over the years.
  4. Very cool, and... as I understand is the case with everything in life: one thing at a time. Keep up the good work, and cheers!
  5. Would there be any chance of having pages for visual artists who've contributed to OCRA projects? y'know... just askin'
  6. UPDATE! I'm baaaaack! (hopefully that's not speaking too soon). Cheers @Trism for holding the reins in my absence. You're a gent and a scholar. I still have heaps of life to take care of but you'll be seeing more of me now that I'm able. Lucky you. Turns out there are no official deadlines for November 1st, we're rolling over to December 1st instead. That actually brings everybody in line for the same progress deadlines. except for those rogues of you who submit more frequently because you're insane. But I like a guy/lass who plays by their own rules. Eagerness gets you far. On the downside, two tracks have reverted to unclaimed. That's Beruga and Freedom. I'm officially requesting that only posted remixers or people with full experience make requests for these two tracks, because they're really quite tricky ones. Sorry about that. Moving on! Keep up the brilliant work folks, with the way things are going we'll knock this out of the park.

  8. UPDATE Hey everybody, how's it going? so... first things first: Sorry for being (apparently) absent for the past nearly 3 weeks. I've had a rollercoaster ride of craziness to deal with in the real world but I've still been right here too, albeit in spirit. Sometimes you just gotta take care of what's right in front of you so you can concentrate on the stuff that really matters, like OCR Anyways, apologies out of the way, I just want to say there's just shy of a fortnight til the next deadline, and it's a big one for the album. A good chunk of you, in fact over a third will (should) be submitting updates. It's very exciting in that it'll really add more structure to the album, cementing a couple distant parts of it together. Some are expected to be completed tracks, some are meaty WIPs, some are even freshly squeezed concepts. Don't know which I'm most looking forward to! I've just finished PM'ing those of you it applies to, so if you have no message from me, you don't need to panic... yet. Anyways, Keep it up folks. Drop me a line with any concerns! Cheers!
  9. Sounds cool. I was waiting on confirmation replies as to visual art for the album. Don't know whether bahamut discussed it with you?
  10. Think on it this way: How would you feel if an artist or filmmaker was using your music in their work without reaching out to you, crediting you or paying you a royalty from their profit? It's just not done. Be kind to artists and at the very least ask them. Chances are they'll say yes if you just ask. If they say no, respect it. If you can't find a contact for the artist, don't use their work. If they don't respond to you, same. I'm sure you can appreciate that all art is difficult and precious to the creator regardless of the field, be it music, imagery, dance, film and the rest. It takes years of improvement and still we "creatives" have enough difficulty making money and getting appreciated by the wider section of society. The least we can do is not rip each other off. EDIT Evidently I'm quite passionate about this
  11. •••• UPDATE! BONUS TRACKS •••• All initial tracks have now been claimed! We did it, we got there folks. OK OK, so we're not out of the woods yet. Tracks are still being worked on and there's as ever a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff to take care of but we've hit a real target and milestone, methinks. Since this is the case we're opening up the remainder of the tracks from the OST. They're predominantly short tracks, loops and events which, though not integral to the album add some nice spice to the game. We're opening them up as a cherry on the cake, if you will. If you're familiar with Terranigma you may have noticed that none of the "resurrection" tracks feature in the following list. That's because @jnWake has already offered to do a resurrection medley as the last track on the album. Anyways, as many of these new tracks are just a handful of bars they make great medley fodder. So if you want to, you can claim multiple for a single remix. OK they are as follows (click on track for link): Origins (Intro movie theme) The Gaia Stones (Situation Theme) Shopping (Shop theme) Amusement (Minigame theme) Race in Mushrooms (Minigame theme 2) Mysterious Pit (location loop) Entrance (situation loop) My Beloved Loire (Trigger event loop) Defeat (Game Over event) Fanfare (Item acquired event) Go to Rest (Sleep event) SO! Just to reiterate, there are now more tracks available! And as I say, these are optional, for fun and in no way conductive to the success of the album. I've added this to the OP as well. So once again... get claiming! In other news there's just a couple of days until the next submission deadline for some of you. You should know who you are. I PM'ed you a week or so ago. Looking forward to hearing your works! Happy mixing peeps!
  12. UPDATE: I'm sick! Bad tempered snot factory right here... In other, more positive news, things are going swimmingly with the album's progress. We're down to 4, that's right - count 'em, 4 unclaimed tracks! OK, it's only one less than my previous post, but since it comprises of one dropped track ( ) and two newly claimed ones, I'm happy. Also there's a total of 16 tracks which are 100% complete and mastered, awaiting mastering or applying finishing touches & tweaks. That's over half, and the rest are chugging along nicely. SO.... September 1st's a submission deadline for some of you. But youse guyse know about that, I've PM'd you. As mentioned in some previous post, Sept 1st's also the cutoff for claiming a track. That's just shy of a month. Any more for any more? Here's an updated list of unclaimed sources should they tickle your fancy: XXX Call at a Port XXX CLAIMED Lhasa Freedom Southern Rhythm Underworld POSSIBLY CLAIMED Let's fill it up and complete the album, hey? Cheers folks! Right. Time for some medicine and complaining about how lousy I feel.
  13. Talk about spoilers. Thanks for ruining Tetris for me...
  14. Evermore from Secret of Evermore. So many different environments to exploit. Or Raccoon City, assuming I could be a NPC. I'd make a badass recurring miniboss... Otherwise I'd last the 5 seconds it took me to curse, panic and wet myself. EDIT: scratch both those ideas. Black and White 2. I'd be a good deity... at first...
  15. UPDATE Hi peeps. I've been on holiday/vacation the past week (in fact I still am) but I've found a little time to drop in here... Always thinking of you guys... *sniff* Nothing much to say! One week til a swathe of new update submissions, everybody seems to be ferreting away at their works. Great stuff. Even a couple new claims! Oh, and the completed tracks are mounting. Keep going, and hit me or @Trism up if you need anything. Cheers peeps! PS, if you think this project is missing anything, post below. We can discuss it right here.
  16. You beast Consider it claimed. Hopefully the 3/4 time signature won't throw you off?
  17. Cheers Jean, very kind of you! Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Had to double check if outside musicians were allowed. Turns out they are Still, for the sake of communication it would probably be beneficial if they signed up to the forums...
  18. UPDATE: Hi everybody. Been busy behind the scenes as ever. So July 1st brought in another deadline for some of you guys, most of them have been submitted. Sounding great, cheers! The upgrade to OCRA has seen a lot of excitement. Those of you who haven't submitted have pretty much all given reasons, and that's very cool of you. Cheers for that too, looking forward to hearing what you bring to the table. For others of you, the next deadline is August 1st. But you know that because I just messaged you, reminding you as such . The positivity is awesome, and this clock seems to be pretty well oiled, I must say (touch wood). Keep up the momentum guys. So... July 1st also brought another milestone. 6 months since the inception of the project. Happy half-birthday mofos! I've decided to put a cut-off point on the claim process, to keep the ball rolling and to maintain the growth of the project. As we stand, we have a total of 34 tracks on the album split into 3 discs with the themes "Rest", "Quest" and "Battle". Currently 29 of them are claimed 24 of which are completed or have evidence of work in progress. If by September 1st we don't have 30+ tracks being actively worked on, it'll be split into a double-disc instead, with the titles "Light" and "Darkness". Which side will your track be on, I wonder??? As I say, this is purely to keep the album rolling smoothly. 8 months is a decent point, methinks, and we can't keep the recruitment process open forever... That way lies development limbo. Besides, It'll actually be very cool to move on to the next stage! Here's a list of the remaining unclaimed tracks for any who may want to step in: European Town Call at a Port Freedom Southern Rhythm The Castle of Dragoon Anyways, as ever, great work so far peeps. Keep it up. Really delighted with what's being brought to the table so regularly and consistently. This album is shaping up to be epic, eclectic and emotive across the spectrum. If you haven't claimed, but would like to, don't be shy! Drop a message here, or hit me or @Trism up in a PM. Take it easy, lads and lasses! Odai out
  19. OK, not sure whether this breaks the rules or not (Sorry Darkesword, please delete if this is the case), but this Zelda Medley flute arrangement gets me every time. As soon as Taltal Heights comes in, I start crying and laughing simultaneously. I don't know what it is about this performance. Just one of those things.
  20. Great album. It certainly has elements of both Joe Hisaishi and John Williams to it, though not in the sense that it's aping or emulating them. Just that it uses the same sources of influence. There are a lot of playful and whimsical tones in it, as well as sombre and melancholic ones. All in all it's very well balanced. It also has an element of gothic folk in some areas, and would lend itself well to this genre if you were to direct the band towards it, though I don't recommend it as you have your own sound. I understand your difficulty in "pigeonholing" your work, as you paint some pretty extensive vistas which can be categorised as A, B or C depending on the track in question, and even in some cases the sections of a particular track. I tried to listen to the tracks without the various voice (editing it out in my mind) to get a better idea of the raw composition, with a greater or lesser degree of success. I don't think you can choose Just one microgenre, but I guess I would describe a subgenre as "Cinematic". Hope this helps!
  21. Yeah, pretty much what Jorito said, except for overly implementing other tracks from the album, because at that point you're verging on making a medley, and also could well be stepping on other remixers' toes and negating the claims process (that's how I'd see it if it was me). IMO a limited source does actually give you MORE freedom, because you can use it at least two new and different ways, being: 1- using it as the core structure of the track with interesting harmonies, chord structures and instruments, or 2- going completely off the map and using it solely as the bridge and/or chorus sections. Either is fine, as long as it's present in at least 50% of the track.
  22. @Jean Of mArc @Jorito @Trev Correct, correct and correct. Fear not. Stems are only required if you're not confident in mixing your track. Otherwise, once it comes to the mastering stage we'll need a single wav with 6db overhead, for the sake of uniformity across the board.
  23. Yes. Yes you can. Welcome aboard @Jean Of mArc! I'll be PM'ing you shortly...
