  1. If any game deserves medley style remixes, it’s definitely Sonic CD. The multiple variations of the stage themes are begging for medley arrangements, so we could enjoy every variation all at once in some form. This remix does an excellent job bringing the JPN version of Palmtree Panic, and most of its variations together into one seamless, and fun medley.
  2. That could very well be the best way to describe the US boss battle theme for this game. But yeah, this remix manages to make the horrifying (in a good way) boss theme and make it a little more horrifying, with a dash of excitement. As I was listening to this, I was thinking “man I wish they added an evil horrifying laugh to the mix.” Ask and you shall receive, in spades. Excellent (and downright horrifying) ending.
  3. What an amazing tribute to Seven Force. It sounds like if they did an official remastered soundtrack of Gunstar Heroes, this could legitimately be Seven Force’s battle theme. But the way it’s produced, I don’t think it would work as a video game track unless it was heavily edited to incorporate loops. But all in all, this is an amazing remix of a battle theme.
  4. This remix is great. Parts of it sound like something new that was produced and inspired by Gunstar Heroes, while at the same time, parts of it sound like it came straight out of the Genesis. I love all the build-ups and how they captured that “wait for it” tension, and then BAM, the music is action packed again.
  5. There wasn’t a lot to this remix that I would consider memorable. The piano work is nice, but that’s all it is. Just nice. There is nothing great, or terrible about this remix. It’s just decent at best. Whether you’ll want to replay it again is on you.
  6. Very cryptic, and mysterious. Makes the Narshe mines seem way more intimidating than they originally were. It’s slow, foreboding, and does a great job capturing that ominous feeling you get when exploring unknown territory.
  7. This is a very odd remix for me. The instruments used seem very random, and the vocal samples were very distracting. I do appreciate the attempt to make this remix capture the vibe of a samurai war in ancient times. It still strikes me as a little all over the place for me.
  8. Oh damn, a solo piano medley using seven tracks from this game? Amazing. Not gonna lie, for a split second, I thought I was listening to Kingdom Hearts. That’s how wonderful and compelling the piano work sounded to me. Not to take anything away from this soundtrack, as this soundtrack is really good too. Very nice, and very soothing. At the same time, this remix does a wonderful job telling a “good vs evil” type of story.
  9. This is a very intense but encouraging remix of a boss battle theme. Those are the more entertaining battle themes for me, as I like to feel encouraged while facing a tough opponent. Not saying the spider boss was legit tough, but you get the idea, right?
  10. Love the title. Just wanted to throw that out there. The bass was a little too loud for me, but I do enjoy how grainy the percussion work is. Very laid back and fun. Just not something I would consider “soothing.”
  11. Excellent trance arrangement. The beats and synth work are so well executed and balanced, that nothing sounds too sharp or distracting. The main melody is so catchy, and the piano work is very subtle in that it captures that “frosty” feeling of the original source material. The vocal samples used as transitions were brilliant. About ten minutes after writing this and moving onto another review, I’m still humming this remix to myself. Absolutely loved this.
  12. I was going to write some positive remarks, but I don’t think I can beat: ( • _ •) ( • _ •)⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) But seriously, this remix is very excellent. I love the guitar and synth work here. They complement each other so well. It’s neither too soft to listen to only when you’re trying to relax, or too loud to listen to only when you want music to boost your energy. It’s perfect for both occasions.
  13. This was a very interesting remix. The original track is very fast paced and intense. This remix is a lot slower than that. So slow, I almost feel like the title of this remix is very misleading. There is nothing “thrilling” about this track, and I can’t picture any “chasing” going on either. Having said that, this remix is still great on its own. I absolutely loved the bass work in this remix, and the beats will bring me back to this remix. Although this doesn’t make me think of Hot Pursuit like other Hot Pursuit remixes do, this remix is still great.
  14. This is a great “introduction” rock track of sorts. It’s very fun, but still manages to retain that hard edge to it. The actual introduction to this remix seems a little too quiet for me, but the rest of the track works so well, that one weak point like that won’t ruin the track for me.
  15. This remix sounds fun, but I was a little too distracted by some of the synth sounds, the tempo changes, and the quality changes to the remix. It definitely works as an arrangement of a Kirby music track, but there isn’t a whole lot to this track that keeps me from wanting to recommend this track to anyone.
  16. This sounds like a demake of an SNES track rather than a remake. But, it’s a demake that sounds pretty decent. The melody shift at 1:48 really threw me off though. Kind of took away that relaxing mood that the remix did create.
  17. An interesting genre choice, but I don’t think this track was executed very well. The percussion work sounds all over the place. Sometimes it works, but then sometimes it will sound out of sync. I don’t know if that’s intentional or not, but it was a little distracting to me. I do agree with Crulex when he says some of the piano notes and drums sounded sharp. Hard to find any strengths in this remix, personally. Not the worst I heard, but it definitely could have been better.
  18. This is an interesting remix. The balance is great, as the loops in the background don’t try to overshadow the main melody. But it’s still faint enough to where it complements the main melody enough. The mid-genre shift really threw me off though. Didn’t strike me as a genre shift, as more of a completely different track being played. Same source material, different tracks. The ending sounded great though. All in all, beginning and ending were great. The middle, not so great.
  19. I find it amazing that a soundtrack like Metroid Prime could inspire something so beautiful as this remix. This almost sounds like it was recorded live and in one take. Very wonderful way to represent a sort of fearful “you and only you versus a whole planet full of horrible creatures” mood. And even if this wasn’t recorded in one take, that’s okay because it’s still amazing solo-piano arrangement. Especially one inspired from a soundtrack full of synthesized instruments.
  20. The organ work in this track makes me think of rock organ heavy artists from the 70s like ELO, and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Very progressive rock. It’s a little bit eerie, it’s a little but fun, and a little bit dark. Definitely a very bizarre remix, but it’s so good and so creative, I cannot dismiss this track. Very original, and well put together.
  21. I can see why this would be called Wild Night. I would definitely describe this as something to dance to in the middle of a “wild night” so to speak. At first, I wasn’t sure about this one. Seemed like an odd production of a remix inspired by a Castlevania game. But the more I listened, the more I could tolerate this at a club or a rave. Not every synth sound used worked for me, but there were some synth sounds (mainly the bass) that did compliment the track fairly well. Not for me, but definitely worth a download.
  22. This is a very interesting take on Blanka’s theme. Blanka’s theme is very fun, and comical (which, if you don’t know, was Yoko Shimomura’s intent. To make the music in the game a little comical). But this remix makes Blanka seem so much more intimidating and frightening. I love how the artists found a way to make you hear Blanka torture his opponents while listening to this remix.
  23. It’s very easy to get lost in this track. Very relaxing, work silently to yourself music. Or even music to take a walk to. It’s so relaxing, that if you listen to it too much, you might end up falling asleep wherever you’re at. Not to say this track is boring, it’s just very hypnotizing.
  24. Instead of taking an “IN YOUR FACE” approach to representing Sonic, the vocalist sounds like he’s chilling in his crib, soaking in how awesome he is. It’s even in the lyrics; “listen to my ego.” I do love the lyrics to this remix. Very “Parental Advisory Warning” and it’s amazing. The beats and samples blend with the lyrics very well. Great remix that uses lyrics.
