It would be almost expected for these Smash Bros. tracks to be rearranged as rock tracks. But this remix pulls off the rock arrangement very well. It doesn’t feel like the artist was trying too hard to be as “hardcore” as possible. Just subtle enough to be respectable to the original source material.

OCR03082 - Final Fantasy IV & XII 'Edward Penelo's Waltz'

Very beautiful track. Realistic use of an ensemble which does an excellent job creating a fancy ballroom dance atmosphere. I would absolutely love to slow dance to this track with my significant other. -
This is definitely inspired by 80s electronic. The low chords seemed symbolic of creatures chasing after you from every corner. I almost wish this track was longer, but at the same time, I wouldn’t consider this track too short. Still very enjoyable.

OCR02893 - Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons "Cryomentus"

Amazing blend of chiptunes with the actual instruments used in this remix. The chiptunes do overpower the synthesizers. But that’s what makes it great. It makes the synth work very ambient, and almost intimidating if you don’t hear the chiptune melody. -
OCR02675 - Perfection. "Free Fall"
nitrozsz replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This was an interesting track. Is it supposed to be relaxing? Or is it trying to haunt you like a beautiful siren haunts its prey? It really does a good job telling an “escape from reality” story of sorts. The violins and vocals really do shine with this track, as everyone (so far) has already stated. -
OCR02729 - Pokémon Blue Version "Conundrum"

This genre really works well with the Gym Battle theme from the original Pokemon. The guitar solo seemed a little out of place, but the fact that it was only for a small portion of the track keeps the guitar from being too much of a distraction. I almost wish Nintendo found a way to rearrange this battle theme in a way that is similar to this remix for a Smash Bros game. -
OCR02569 - Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES) "mojo gogo"

Very creative arrangement. I can definitely hear 60s Motown in this track. Almost as if the Countours performed with a bebop jazz band in the background during the holidays. The vocals were used very well, as they did not overpower the arrangement in anyway. My only complaint is that the track is too short. I want to have more fun with this track. Three minutes isn’t enough for me. -
OCR02516 - Final Fantasy "The Beginning of a Legacy"

It was very smart of them to make the tempo of this track their own, as it really brings out the feeling of being part of an incredible challenge. An incredible metal cover of an NES RPG battle theme that does a successful job telling the story of a battle, rather than just converting the original into a metal as is, and calling it a day. -
This was a very bizarre track, as probably intended. Not sure if I’d want to listen to it again on its own, but I could see this track used to enhance a psychological or horror story of sorts.

I second everything Coaltergeist said. I do want to add that the cross-pan solo mentioned in the profile was pretty good. I’d still call this a fun track, but some of the levels seem a little uneven for me to fully appreciate this track. -
OCR03240 - Guild Wars 2 "The End of Madness"
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Great hard rock battle theme. I especially appreciate how the synthesized sounds didn’t try to do too much all at once. The focus was mainly on the guitars, as it should be. It almost felt like something straight out of the Black Mages catalog. -
This is a great medley. And it’s a medley that actually has smooth and seamless transitions between the multiple source materials, and it sticks to one genre. The chiptunes blended with the synth instruments make great music to have in the background of an ideal electronic interpretation of a tropical paradise.

OCR03113 - Super Mario RPG 'Adagio pour Mallow'
nitrozsz replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This arrangement makes the “sad song” seem more like a “vengeful song.” It’s definitely an elaborate interpretation of Mallow’s sadness, and in such an amazing way. A very risky arrangement that pays off fairly well. I’m almost reminded of Fantasia when I hear this track. -
OCR03110 - Tehkan World Cup 'Playing in the Park'
nitrozsz replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Very enjoyable track. It’s fun, energetic, and in some ways, motivational. I’m glad this is called “playing in the park” because there is that sense of innocence that I get from listening to this track. Just having a carefree time at the park with your friends. Lots of fun, just like this track. -
OCR03163 - Ultra Street Fighter IV "Dash Cancel"
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
If I were a fighter, this would definitely be the kind of music I would want to represent my skills. This is a very intense music track, and does an excellent job making anyone associated with it (like Decapre) seem like the most powerful warrior in the universe. -
OCR03017 - Shuttle Rush 'The Observer'
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The brass, piano, and the percussion in this track is amazing. A perfect balance of electronic music and orchestrated music. I could see myself racing through space at the speed of light to something like this. -
OCR03016 - Shuttle Rush 'Tread a Little Heavier'
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Great synth work blended with chiptunes. The vibe presented in this track doesn’t feel generic at all. Parts of the remix are atmospheric, and parts of this remix are fun jams to dance to. An overall fun experience. -
OCR00435 - ToeJam & Earl "Wake Up!"
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This track is extraordinarily fun and silly, just like ToeJam and Earl. And I’m going to have to third the “wanna hear a live version of this” comment, because this track would totally provide an unforgettable experience to a live crowd. Flawless track. -
OCR00382 - Balloon Fight "Ska Poppin'"
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This track will relax you, then it will pump you up when you least expect it, and then it will relax you again. And in the case of this track, that’s not a bad thing. The brass solo during the first minute of the track seemed a little soft and lacking in energy. Very fun track with a nice balance of relaxation and excitement. -
For a medley, this track felt a little inconsistent to me. Too many genre’s in one track for my tastes. I feel like once I was invested in one section, another section would be drastically introduced, forcing me to reacquaint myself with the track. 1:56 to 2:43 was wonderful though.

OCR00193 - Dr. Mario "Funky Pills"
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The bass in this track is outstanding. One of the best, and most creative uses of bass I’ve heard from this website. Even if you don’t care for Dr. Mario (or video game music in general), this track does a great job standing on its own. And capping off this great remix is the brass and guitar solos at the end. -
OCR00396 - Mario Kart 64 "Dream Racing"
nitrozsz replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The opening chord hooked me to this track right away. This remix does Rainbow Road 64 justice in more ways than one. The original solos inserted into this track is outstanding, and the transitions between original and source material is smooth and seamless. And what a standard to set for this being Overclocked’s first Rainbow Road 64 remix.
