  1. First and foremost, props to you for creating a Legend of Mana remix. Probably my favorite OST of all time. This is very cool. I'm a fan of solo classical guitar performances and I really like this. The tin whistle/recorder is a nice touch and the light bodhran(?) is perfect support on percussion. The lead at 1:27 is also very nice. I'm not sure how much you plan to add to this - there is a large gap in the arrangement where other instruments or fills could be added (0:38-1:26), and the false ending at 2:19 is a tad distracting (maybe a fill to transition from the 'false end' to the 'real ending' would fix this - but this is really pretty as is. Looking forward to the performance version. Great work!
  2. I love a good Saturn Valley remix, BOING! I agree with Starphoenix that the bass and kick are taking the lead away from the lead - I feel like the impact of the downbeat and the sheer volume is taking away from the more subtle elements of the track. I believe EQ will help but not solve this issue - ask someone else about frequency adjustment. Totally dig the solo at 1:21 - I like the tone and arrangement here. Overall, I feel it could do with a lot more supporting harmonies to better feature the melodies. Now, let's sit down with a nice cup of tea and discuss your adventure....
  3. Thanks for all the responses. To be frank, I really don't care about the monetary value of my games - if I did, then I wouldn't have opened the box or plastic to begin with. Apparently mint boxes are almost worth as much as the game these days; I get the 'collector value' side of the equation but I will NEVER pay $450 for an original, unopened box of Earthbound. That being said, instead of original box, I would track down an emulator, just for the opportunity to play the game - because that's where the value is to me, the EXPERIENCE of the game, not how valuable or rare it is. I've done this with lots of games, like Seiken Densetsu 3 or FF5 (pre-PSX release). Once again, it's like a good book. You read it then put it down for a while; when you open that book again, however long later, you'll find that not only are there parts you've forgotten, but parts you missed the first time around. I've read Lord of the Rings at least six times, and I still find passages I have no memory of. Games can tell you a story, teach you, inspire you, motivate you, or give you another perspective on life ... why would I trade these works of art in for a few bucks at my local game shop? You're not wrong from an economic perspective, but I knew that going in. I used to frequent a used game store when I was a young, impressionable gamer and it always amazed me that if I waited long enough, a game like Dragon Warrior could be purchased for $10 - knowing that if I ever wanted to trade it back, I would get $2. It's never been about the money. Well, I'm not interested in donating anything I own now, but perhaps this is something I should consider for when I have to set my affairs in order. Thanks for the tip, I'll take a peek at what's out there. Hear hear! I'm glad I'm not the only collector here. Someone mentioned the Oregon Trail at work the other day and I think I still have a copy of it and some other DOS games somewhere. I seem to remember I also had Choplifter, Montezuma's Revenge, Karate-ka, and Taipan. Gotta dig out the 286 and monochrome monitor and see if my 5" floppy drive still turns! I think so too - I just wish I had more people in my life who care that I can 'gush' to, as evktalo said.
  4. Rhino already has a WIP in the workshop, I just don't have a copy yet.
  5. Venom Orbital has been claimed by @Slimy. Welcome aboard!
  6. Thanks for the help, N! I have amended the thread to show this.
  7. I have PMed you on this. __________________________________________________________________ ****SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT***** I am pleased to announce that @DaMonz has agreed to become co-director for our project! Great to have you aboard, DaMonz! I'm looking forward to working with you. Everyone please help me welcome him to the team!
  8. @Cole Train@DS394, this track is claimed. I've heard the examples, and I'm very curious to see what you guys come up with! 7 tracks, we're off to a good start! I'm starting to get a little clarity on where I want the concept to go, so I'll be hammering out a set tracklist for the two discs later this week. Stay tuned!
  9. ...No one here can see the facepalm I just did, but it was a good one. I have confirmed your identified solution. Thank you for addressing this website issue in a precise and timely fashion. Now I'm going to just go away and hide somewhere and hope no one notices me...
  10. You are in the Purple Rain now, DS. I have added 'current performers' to the top of the thread under staff. Anyone else who is interested, let me know. I've also put myself down for Titania. from Star Fox SNES. It's a weird one and no idea what I'm going to come up with, but a drumbeat and some deep, dark, dirty, distorted guitar has been running around in my head for a while now...
  11. No problem, let me know. Very curious to hear your vision. As for performers, no one has stepped forward yet. Who can confirm they are available for collaborations and what can you collaborate with?
  12. Okay, thread has been reset with the new info. Sorry for the confusion @classic_gamer_76, you have submitted a WIP - but it still needs a name! Hmmm. Not sure this is at the level where you can 'drop the mic,' but very interesting. Done. Send me your WIP! I like it, as I'm always down for a little cello action, but lonely ... and short. --- So, I've been thinking about this Corneria thing, as it's the most popular track in the Star Fox series and I'm only choosing one to be featured (bonus tracks still possible!). Well, this weekend, a friend of mine suggested that since it's so popular, why don't we make this into one big collaboration? Tell me what you all think.
  13. Don't worry, you can claim the track now if you want and send a WIP later. You have time to consider and build your skills. If you need some help or guidance, we can help you or point you in the direction of someone who can.
  14. All tracks must be arrangements or remixes. How conservative you are with the source material may be negotiated, but we would like to hear a little of the Remixer in each track, if you get my meaning.

I need someone with past experience on working with OCR and with the final production of a project, as I have only limited experience in this area. *POSITION FILLED* *Arrangers/Remixers to conceptualize and complete remixes. This is where the bulk of the work will be. Brand new or experienced veteran, anybody who would like to take part is welcome. Voice Actors to bring life to the characters in our audio narratives. If you think your voice would be perfect for one of the available roles, drop us a PM or email! Performers who are experienced with any type of instrument and have a high-quality recording setup. Sometimes live is better, so anyone willing to lend a hand to a fellow musician short an instrument or skill would be appreciated. Ideally, we would like folks who are willing to provide support and/or collaboration with Remixers who are new or inexperienced at mixing. Mastering Support for bringing the final WAVs into coherency and giving the final touches to tracks before final submission. I have no experience mastering and so I'm asking for someone(s) who is(are) willing to dedicate a little time (okay, a lot of time) to help us get the album through one of the final hurdles. *POSITION FILLED* Anyone who is interested in helping in any one of these areas, please let me know. --ALBUM CONCEPT— First, a special 4-Arwing salute goes to Thomas Neil, who originally came up with the idea of building a Star Fox album in time for Star Fox’s 25th anniversary. He would have been the director for this project, but life became more complicated for him, so he was unable to give the project the commitment he thought it deserved. I thought it would be a shame if this one-only timing for the album fell apart, so I volunteered to bring his idea to light. I have always believed that Star Fox is the flight simulator for everyone who doesn’t like flight simulators. I remember playing the first game, years ago, and being fascinated with the SUPER HIGH TECH 3D POLYGON GRAPHICS, the ‘smooth’ play control, and the choice of different routes to take to reach the final goal, depending on the difficulty chosen. I’ve played other flight simulators, but none have given me the same thrill as Star Fox. Seven games and almost 25 years later, Star Fox has become a respected Nintendo franchise. We had a goal to put together a two disc set of 14-17 songs per disc, featuring a showcase of what we would hear flying around as Fox McCloud. Due to my own life complications, this project timeline was extended past the point where we could release it before Star Fox's actual 25th anniversary of release; now, instead of simply a tribute, we are focusing on the concept of the narratives and music: To celebrate the Star Fox series, we are putting together a tour of the Lylat System from Corneria to Venom to give this Solar System a little bit of the Star Fox experience, All tracks from all games are open and there are no genre restrictions. The deal for the album concept is one track per area on a course between Corneria and Venom. One exception to this is tracks from Star Fox Adventures. A maximum two tracks can be claimed from this game, as I don’t want the listener to spend too much time on Sauria; that being said, if we get more, we may accept them as bonus tracks. --AUDIO TRACKS-- To add a little spice to our journey through the Lylat System, we have put together a series of audio tracks throughout the album to guide our listeners a little closer to the Star Fox experience. We are gathering talented voice actors to play the main characters from Star Fox as they fly through the Lylat System, growing closer to the final goal of reaching Venom to battle Andross. 16. Just wanted to say that the 'Off Topic' forum is not showing up on my smartphone. I use an Samsung/Android phone, but I'm not sure OS makes a difference. Maybe someone else can verify on an iPhone?
  17. You know, I don't usually comment on games I've never played, but I listened to this WIP once about two weeks ago and I've heard it about once a day since because I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT. Damn you for making a song I can't get out of my head. Now I have to go listen to it again...
  18. Gonna have to agree with the other posters here - the reverb, choice of distortion, and I think a touch of chorus (?) on all the guitars kind of washes the sound, crowding out the bass and drums. I think this sound is find for the lead, but the rhythm guitar needs some flesh or boom to it, and the bass and drums need more distinction. I really like the arrangement, though. This is going to be a rad track once you're done with it.
  19. This really is quite a good remake. Quite accurate to the source and you have a good sense of presence in your soundscape. I can only assume the percussion keeps cutting out for effect, but I find it distracting. Some of your notes conflict and I don't think all your sounds are mixed properly. I can be more specific if you need. Aside from that, I enjoyed it. Thanks for the listen!
  20. You just can't beat the natural sound of a thousand voices screaming in unison ... And I meant that in the constructive natural-sounds-better way, not the creepy rearrange-the-face-of-the-world way.
  21. I REALLY like the sound of this. 'Freakin' epic' would be my first reaction. The 'basso profundo' is rather low and profound, as the name implies, but not the 'rising wave' necessary to compete with the crescendo in rest of the song. More male vocalists, and I'd use more than one female vocalist to round out the sound. Great sound so far. This is going to sound AWESOME when it's done!
  22. I like the two tones with a bit of reverb and is that a touch of delay? The delay doesn't have the same timing as the beat, so it's a little distracting. The gentle rise at 1:23 is very nice as well, a good build, but it doesn't build to anything. Needs more! Sounds good. Curious where you'll take this.
  23. Recently, someone told me that I have 'wasted money' buying games when I could have used the money for 'better things.' When I was growing up, I had very few games to play (mainly because my folks were haters), but the games I did have I played over and over again just to squeeze every bit of enjoyment I could out of them. I bought my first SNES which I bought with my own money on August 24th, 1994 - including Super Mario World - and I have been building my collection ever since. I now own about 140 hard copy games ranging from SNES to PC to PS3, 6 consoles, and 200+ soft-copies of games for both PSN download, PC games, and emulation ROMs... and let me tell you, I love my games and value them highly. I can still get excited hearing a Mega Man boss intro, listening to the intro to the boss theme in Link to the Past, or listening to the opening Corneria theme in Star Fox. I like to game for many different reasons, but they reason I tell most people is because I liken playing a video game to reading a book - an interactive book which to have to work at to see the next page and build your understanding along with the characters. I like playing the same game more than once, not just for the nostalgia of experience, but also because you never get everything a game has to offer with one play-through. For example, I played SaGa Frontier for the first time in 2000 and I HATED the game. Too confusing, no directions, battle system frustrating. So I put it down - but I didn't sell it. Three years later, a buddy of mine told me he had a copy of the strategy guide and let me leaf through it. Suddenly armed with a little bit of knowledge, I picked up the game again and this time, I got it. Seven different plots, lots of different ways to develop characters, open-ended setup to build them and your story how you want them to be. Today, SaGa Frontier remains one of my favorite games (Asellus' story rules!) and I still pick it up from time to time. Most of the friends I had who were gamers growing up have either stopped playing regularly or long since left gaming behind. When I talk to gamers who are younger than I, most of them don't own more than 5 or 6 games at one time, because they tend to trade them in after they're bored with it or they've beaten it once. Mainstream game stores rarely if ever carry games older than the current generation of console, because no one wants to hold the inventory. It seems that most people treat gaming as a 'plug in, play, then throw away' activity these days - and to me, this is disappointing considering all of that effort that when into the development and release of a unique story. Even nostalgia gaming isn't as popular for the PS2 or the Saturn as it was for the NES/SEGA or SNES/Genesis eras - old-school game stores in my area have tons of old PS2/X-Box games these days. My questions: Does anyone else feel the same way? Are there any other collectors out there? Does anyone else still enjoy playing older games? Or has gaming really become so disposable? Am I the curator of a library that no one cares about anymore but me?
  24. Dug into this a bit. Apparently, LawBreakers is a pay-to-play online PC game by Nexon. Class-based first-person shooter, apparently; however, it is still in Alpha testing (hence the Alpha in the title). There is absolutely no information about the OST at this time that I can find. More info will probably be available after the full release. Until then, game website can be found here: http://lawbreakers.nexon.net/en Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LawBreakers
