DS394 reacted to The Coop in An OverClocked Christmas v. XIII is out!
    Well hello there, folks!
Yes, the time has once again come. As has been the tradition for over a decade now, remixers new and seasoned have come together to make a Christmas album for everyone to enjoy. Featuring songs from video games that were given a little yuletide twist, and traditional Christmas carols that got a kick in the genre, this year we have 10 songs for you get into the spirit with.
Once again, a "thanks" goes out to Dyne for hosting this. And from all of us involved with this project, we hope you have a merry Christmas

OC ReMix presents Secret of Mana: Resonance of the Pure Land!

    December 4, 2017
    Contact: press@ocremix.org

FAIRFAX, VA... December is Mana month as OverClocked ReMix closes out 2017! OverClocked ReMix today released its 65th free community arrangement album, Secret of Mana: Resonance of the Pure Land. Featuring 31 tracks from 39 artists, Resonance of the Pure Land pays tribute to the classic 16-bit Square RPG Secret of Mana, and is co-directed by Dutch musician Jorrith "Jorito" Schaap & Canadian community member Mike "The Nikanoru" Postans. The album is available for free download at http://mana.ocremix.org.

Resonance of the Pure Land assembles a global lineup of musicians all honoring Hiroki Kikuta's transporting SNES music in a variety of styles, including jazz, ambient, chiptune, rap, funk, metal, and more. Resonance of the Pure Land was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix; all original compositions are copyright their respective owners.

"I did play and beat Secret of Mana, and I still have 'Fond Memories' of the game and its music. Especially the calm, sad songs and the whale sounds are still imprinted in my mind, and instantly bring back memories of good times and bouts of nostalgia," recalled album director Jorrith Schaap. "Big kudos to the artists who really stepped up their game and created these very diverse and creative but still very recognizable interpretations of the world and sounds of the Secret of Mana, and also to Tabby, who really caught the essence of Mana in her beautiful artwork. I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to it just as much as we enjoyed creating it!"

The album's artwork was designed by American artist Tabitha "Tabby" Ramsey, who channeled the late Hirō Isono's serene "emerald forest" illustrations into her own take on the world of Secret of Mana.

"All the remixers have brought their own resonance to this project, often taking their remixes in completely different directions than I expected -- I think this gives the album a distinctly unique flavor that still reflects the themes and values in the game itself" remarked album co-director Mike Postans. "I hope you will enjoy this album and hope it becomes as much as classic for you, the listener, as the Secret of Mana itself."

Resonance of the Pure Land also sets the stage for the impending release of OC ReMix's 66th community album, this time honoring Secret of Mana's 1995 sequel Seiken Densetsu 3. The three-disc Seiken Densetsu 3: Songs of Light and Darkness will conclude the website's celebratory Mana month, in anticipation of Secret of Mana's 3D remake scheduled for February 2018.

So about a month for the final deadline, and we're making good progress so far! The artwork for the front cover is now finished, and if you look at the opening post, you can already see a sneak preview
Other than that, @evktalo claimed "Together Always" and I myself claimed "Whisper and Mantra" and "Flight into the Unknown". We also saw some check-ins from people already, with @HeavyViper, @Blake Inc., @Thirdkoopa, @Starphoenix, @Rexy and @djpretzel showing some very promising updates of their tracks. Really looking forward to the final versions; what we've heard so far is great stuff and I can't wait to get the album out
Good luck with the last stretch, and keep up the good work guys!

Just received our first FINAL WAV for Lylat Legacy, @DS394's orchestral overture-style remix of SF64's Opening Theme! I've posted it to the WIP spreadsheet so folks can give it a listen.
    ----
I'd like to remind everyone that we still have four unclaimed tracks:
Boss A (SF64 or SF SNES) Great Fox Theme (SF Assault) Boss C (SF64) Andross Still might turn Andross into a big collaboration if someone is willing to build the framework. Get your claim in now - WIPs will be required for claims after July 1st!

Once again, I decided to try to experiment with style and arrangement to make a unique take on a classic VGM theme! If I were to give it a title, it would probably be something like "Hunting for Ridley". Whadya think?

Yeah lol I kinda just added that in while noodling around with it in the arrangement process, give it that eerie ambient feel. I played Mars with an All-State Orchestra once and the vibes were so great.

Any specific timestamps? Hesitation/stuttering is a consistent problem I have in my playing style, I probably just left them in so that the audio would match with the video, mistakes and all, but I could edit them out from the MIDI for an official audio file. Probably somewhere near the end of the "Super Metroid Theme" part in the finale, right?
Well, I would, but I still have a submission that's supposedly been in the judging process since September (but hasn't been on the "To Be Judged" list yet), which is even more frustrating because with my current knowledge of OCR, I feel like it's just going to be rejected for quite a bit of variation from the source material.

    Impressive as always, @DS394.
I really like watching that keyboard bounce around in the video. I FEEL the force every time you knock that thing around - a lasting image of the passion and emotion in your playing style. Awesome!
Oh, and love the blooper reel. Also a nice touch.
