  1. Hah, no way. BFD is great, but nowhere near what DFHS is capable of. It's not as easy as BFD, but when you learn it properly, it's the BEST thing out there.
  2. The main project MP3s were encoded under the highest quality VBR settings. There is pretty much no loss of quality between that and the original WAV files. The bonus material, that was all encoded by each individual artist, so if there are any problems with those just re-encode them yourself.
  3. Yeah, start small. I get work mixing and mastering peoples CDs. I don't even charge by the hour yet, just a flat rate of $200 per CD (my clients are mainly local acts and such). I've already got a good deal of satisfied customers that are starting to refer me and my repuation is growing. Just be sure that you don't overdo it with the "starting small" cuz you may get a reputation as being a very affordable alternative, and then you may lose alot of business by raising your rates.
  4. I guess I underestimated my own powers of suggestion.
  5. The arrangement really kicks ass. I'm gonna try and contact you directly, chumble spuzz. I got alot of detailed critique to lay down Mainly, you're missing the most important element that makes the quality of any song skyrocket.... DECENT SOUNDING DRUMS! I mean, the drum sequencing is fine, but they sound like assmilk. Oh, and a slapped bass would make this sound like turds. Keep what you already got, sounds decent enough.
  6. At least he doesn't pimp Asio4All :DDDDDDDDD J/K LOOLOLOLOL And Anal-oq, good sir, I have been without tunes from you for over 2 years. Granted, I rarely check OCR for new music, nor do I visit your website for music, but give me a break, I'm lazy.
  7. So when will you people cut out the technical nonsense and start making some *music? *By music I mean music that doesn't suck.
  8. Hah, so Sonic Adventure 2. I love that lead synth, it's PHAT (LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL). I like this track, lots of energy and it stays very interesting. Interesting percussion all throughout and a very good opening for a badass synth solo where this demo ends.
  9. Crappy intro. You need to contrast the intro with what comes after it. Make it BIG and INTENSE, and then slowly come in with the song. Also, the bass that comes in after the intro is boring as all hell. And DrumUltimA my ass, the drums are fucking WEAK! Overcompressed, boring, useless. Lacking dybamics all around, and the bass only backs it up in terms of bland sounding sadness. You need to get some bends and slides into that bass, slap it once in a while, make it POP! Dynamics, m'boy, that's the make or break element in this style of music, and you ain't got it. Song drags on for 4 minutes (so far) and nothing happens. It just loops over and over with different patches. You need to break the slow tempo eventually, rock out for a while with something extravagantly funky. I suggest you rework alot of this before submitting, this is a definite NO. Best of luck! Yes, dybamics, eat it.
  10. You can make quintillions if you learn the pentatonic scales.
  11. It'll work faster, sound better and cleaner, and give you professional inputs for recording and a spiffy internal mixer and all that spectacular stuff. It should be the first step of building your home based studio thing, if you're serious about music, at least. Now get a good sound interface thing and start getting rejected from OCR!
  12. Oh man, this is not very good. First off, your piano playing is very poor. It needs more articulation, more feeling, more arpeggios, more STYLE. Your bass is even worse, it's offtime, too simple, and doesn't even sound good. Everything overall is offtime, and the arrangement is lacking musically, there's not much music here at all. It sounds like a band warming up. Not to mention your sounds are pretty bad. My advice to you, is to play with a metronome, and learn more music theory.
  13. you can use the free version of NSkit for drums. Learn to program drums better, for the love of god! And I meant cheesy in a bad way, not a good way.
  14. Well, if you're gonna be a dick, hate your own music and call it craptastic, I won't even bother listening to it.
  15. I like the intro, not what follows. Doesn't work very well, too predictable, and the sounds aren't very good. The techno section stands out as cheesy. The drums sound like ass, not just the sounds, but the programming also, extremely boring. I would not submit this till reworking it so it has more structure and till it sounds good. The added sections don't really make sense musically, they're too random. At around 4:30 it starts to sound good, but then that annoying hook comes in played on piano again (for the 15th time). You need a slightly faster section, playing the song somewhat how it is in the original, ALWAYS include the original, it's better than anything you can write and it really adds a level of authenticity to the song. As far as suggestions go, I really like the source material, you should come in strong with a synthy rock cover of it right after the inro, add some kind of interesting break, and then start doing what you did at 4:30. You said you wanted it to be more of a high energy song, yes? Well, most of your track is boring, so do something close to the original song, and keep whatever you did at 4:30 onward, that part sounds good. Just find a way to combine those two elements and you'll get a YES! (and get better drum sounds!)
  16. Holy shit, did this topic really go onto two pages? I totally skipped page 2
  17. The fake guitars sound crummy. Bass is too loud. Drums have too much reverb on them. The solos in the original songs were great, not so good here. Overall this needs a bit of work, but it's about time someone respresented Metal Slug! Keep at it. And I suggest you check out the live performers database and get a guitarist to record parts for you.
  18. I don't like it. What's the point of remixing a song if you can't improve on the original? It all goes offkey at 1:00.... tune your MIDI please! But yeah, as usual, the best parts of the original song were the bass and drums, it had a great beat and made the melody stand out. You've done nothing but muted the drums, changed a few patches and randomly transposed a few bars here and there by 1 or 2 steps. Sorry I'm being such an ass, but I REALLY don't like this. There's no way to save this song, start over from scratch.
  19. Not a really a flute, but a Shakuhachi... okay, it's a TYPE of flute, but still. That's most likely performed live. It's very VERY hard to fake a shakuhachi like that without pre-recorded phrases. In which case it would still be considered live. QL RA comes close. If you have the mega $$$ to shell out, I highly recommend it.
