Honestly, you'll be happy with whichever you chose. It's a matter of apples and oranges, really. -
Help me choose a humbucker

JB is one of the best pickups I've ever used. By far my favorite of the Duncans. -
Help me choose a humbucker

Actually, I feel like a traitor saying this, but after using the EMG 81 to record a song with, I fell in love with it. Having said that, I still recommend the Duncan. -

BLoody Tears (for a School Project)
SnappleMan replied to ShinnyMetal's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Does Reason have a "snap to grid" option? Cuz yer timing's off, and such. That cybmal (*EDIT - whoa, I wrote cybmal!*) is so irritating You'd do alot of good to add some reverb onto that drumkit, create the illusion of natural albiance, a short plate would fit nicely. Also, why is your bass panned left? Put it in the center so it doesn't throw off my immune system anymore. Good arrangement. If you improve the timing of the song, and the sounds of the drums, get rid of the fake guitars and replace them with nice sounding synths, you can have a terrific synth-metal wankfest. -

question about custom guitars
SnappleMan replied to Foxhull's topic in Music Composition & Production
Excuse yourself, but I'm tired of writing books as responses here about guitar tone, that generalization is made from my nearly 20 years of playing, making, and working on guitars. By quality I mean everything that goes into making a guitar. So yes, good tone comes fromt he quality of the guitar. Arguing over specifics is a waste of time, as I've talked about those things in detail in the past and everyone here who's interested in guitars knows what I have to say. -
I'm trying to learn to master within Cubase so I will no longer have a need for Audition.
-
I prefered CEP2 to Audition for minor reasons. Both are still great software if you just use then both for just mastering a song.

Your preferred method of deciphering chord progressions?
SnappleMan replied to SSB's topic in Music Composition & Production
www.vgmusic.com All my ReMixes start with source MIDIs from there. Transcribing music by ear is for idiots with too much time on their hands. -
question about custom guitars
SnappleMan replied to Foxhull's topic in Music Composition & Production
Do you know anything about what you're talking about? The tonal properties depend on the quality of the guitar, not the shape or the number of necks. Please don't make such uninformed comments like this in the future, it upsets me. And to the dude who made this topic, getting a custom guitar like that would cost you well over $10,000 and you most likely do not have the skills necessary to wield it. Get 3 seperate guitars and you'll be happier. -

FL? haha -
Congrats Luiza! It's always nice to see shizzies break out of DoD and expand their fanbase. Alot of great things going on in this track, the arrangement is very interesting and doesn't get repetitive or boring. My only issues are with the guitar tone and performance, but you're still new to this so that'll all come with due time. I really look forward to hearing more stuff from you in the (hopefully) near future! And hey, I hope I'll be seeing you at Magfest this year! You'll have a blast keeping my lips off your man's member! Ho Ho Ho!

Getting the most out of your DAW?
SnappleMan replied to The Vagrance's topic in Music Composition & Production
I'll try to find some way to get them up here, but I doubt it'll work. "Yeah, now we gonna take a break and then finish up reprogramming windows XP on the machine level, and shit. Just be sure you wash yo hands after you take a shit, cuz you dont wanna be getting dat shit on yo mouse" -
Getting the most out of your DAW?
SnappleMan replied to The Vagrance's topic in Music Composition & Production
I'm going to try and youtube that amazing PC optimization video that we watched at norg's place. "Yeaugh, now ama get into some o' dis complicated ass shit, so if ya'll muthafuckas don wanna fuck up yo shit, be careful. So first, we gonsta type in regedit...." But make sure you've configured Sonar to use only the drivers you want to use. Kontakt is a CPU hog, maybe the reverb/EQ/etc. settings on the presets you're loading are too much for Sonar. Yes, I know I said SONAR and not your CPU. Fact of the matter is, when I was using Sonar, I had a ton of strange problems where one seemingly harmless plugin or effect would completely cripple my system. Turn your latency settings up? down? whatever is not as fast... and configure the shit out of Sonars audio engine and all that jazz. -
Real-world benefits of faster DDR2 RAM?
SnappleMan replied to klm09's topic in Music Composition & Production
I use PC3200 and it works flawlessly. For what I do, ram speed isn't an issue once things are loaded, since the shit pretty much stays in there till I'm done with the session. The only limitation I have on the speed is the hard drives. -
Are two monitors really necessary?
SnappleMan replied to about:blank's topic in Music Composition & Production
Hell yes it counts! If you were to buy this guitar retail you'd be paying an extra $1200 for the shipping, packing, handling, the box it came in, the store space it takes up, etc. -
How should I handle these Roland sample CDs?
SnappleMan replied to Gilrad's topic in Music Composition & Production
I don't really know the answer, but if I were you I'd research on the accuracy of the conversions. In many cases of soundbank conversion there is something that you lose which is native to the primary format. Meaning, Rolands samplebanks might work better on Roland hardware than they would converted to SF2. -
