  1. These fakey string samples are killing me. Guitar sounds great and is played well. There's a nice folksy approach here in this track; feels like I could be hiking through the tundra or something. Percussion especially is nice. Problem is I think you need some more source usage and you need to think about your transitions and making them a little less abrupt. Would like to hear this again with some revisions. NO, resub
  2. Nearly half of this mix is just the guitars gliding up and down around the chord progression. When the melody finally makes an appearance, it's diatonically offset by a third or something, which I guess is fine, but it would have been nice to hear the actual melody. Performances are good but I think you need to look at the production on this and maybe bring it down a bit. NO, resub
  3. A cleaner recording/render would be nice. Arrangement is great though, love the jazzier approach. Yes, conditional on reverb/eq fix
  4. I think Vinnie's right on with talking about the "looseness." It's distracting. Orchestral opening is weak, but when it goes rock, it's pretty good. Wah is a little weird, but otherwise some good guitar and drums stuff. YES
  5. Unfortunately the disparity between the percussion elements and the rest of the mix is really noticeable. I think the whole mix is being a bit overpowered by your kick drum. Otherwise I think it's a really cool mix. Some nice ideas, like the woodblock percussion, organ, and the flute. The more I listen to this, the more I'm okay with the percussion though. It's a nice little piece. Great vibraphone too. YES
  6. I played this game quite a bit when I was younger, and I was quite fond of this source tune. Intro was great but you lost me at :28ish, when that fakey mechanical sitar comes it. Coupled with big sustained pads and very weak percussion, the whole thing feels very lethargic. The variation in this piece is pretty nice though, but I think that the production issues mentioned by other judges are hurting it. You should look into some better samples and balance them better. 2:50 especially feels a bit crowded. Cool piece, I'd like to see some revisions. NO, resub
  7. I'm with Palp and CHz. I feel like a lot of this mix is very long sustained notes with a couple of synthy embellishments. When we do get the melody of the original, it's mostly some mechanically sequenced run-through of the source tune. There's a nice atmosphere, but ultimately I don't think it expands much on the source material, and I think the performances of the organic elements could be more humanized. NO, resub
  8. blluuuueaaagh Yeah, so the final begins now. Good luck to Txai and Willrock.
  9. Folks, remember, this isn't a Steam Treasure Hunt thread, this is a TF2 thread. There's already a topic for the Treasure Hunt. Posts have been moved to the appropriate thread.

  13. It hasn't been ignored. I keep telling you that an upgrade is planned. Stop harping on it.
  14. Make a thread for it in the social group and discuss it there. Don't make a new thread in the Community forum.
  15. You honestly think that Blizzard will make a Halo MMO? That's your conclusion?
  16. Let's please not start getting into discussions about the game balance of someone's house rules. Arguing about the actual game gets bad enough.
  17. I don't think the piano is so bad, plus it's only in the beginning where it's noticeable. Anyway pretty solid interpretation, some cool beats and a nice atmosphere. I like the swelling synths. YES
  18. Irvin Kershner, the director of The Empire Strikes Back, passed away today at 87 years of age. TESB is probably my most favorite movie ever, largely thanks to his approach to the material. RIP, Mr. Kershner.
  19. Short, sweet, and straightforward. I love the laid back mood. Great performances all around; things really lock together. I dig it! YES
  20. Yes, for the most part. Watch and listen to a ton of Japanese stuff and after a while you'll be able to tell when the acting is actually good or bad. For most people, setting the voices to Japanese is just a way to stop yourself from getting distracted by bad acting. It's easier to gloss over when it's not in a language you understand. Keep in mind though that Japan has a pretty big VA community because of all the animation and games they produce, so maybe the baseline quality is a little higher, but that doesn't automatically make it better.
