    Hashes are out of date because they’re generated when the file is initially uploaded, but they don’t get updated when we make revisions to the files. It’s a big job to regenerate all hashes and set them in the database. My advice is to just ignore hashes. I plan on obfuscating that data anyway.

    All of his solo works were removed from the site through mutual agreement after he was banned from the community. You won’t find his work on OCR except for a few exceptions where he was a collaborator.

    No. The judging process is between the remixer and the panel. If, after a rejection, an artist wants to share the track, they can do so themselves in the Workshop.

    Definitely not something we'd post. We're looking for full songs. We've posted short mixes before but 26 seconds is not enough. It's also wild that you said this is 54 seconds when half the audio file is just silence. Please familiarize yourself with the type of music OCR posts. We're not looking for little ringtone length clips. NO

    Arrangement is killer, performances are killer. Production is not killer. I feel like the balance is really off here. The whole thing is sizzling, the vocals feel drowned out at points. The NO-voting judges I think are on the mark. This needs another pass on the mix. I feel distracted from enjoying this because of the balance issues. Great track, for sure want this on OCR, but let's get some help with fixing the mix up. Take it to the workshop, maybe some of our Sages or Judges can help. For now, it's a NO.

    This just popped up on this 8Track. I used to listen to this all the time, and 20 years later it's still one of the best on the site. Completely reactivated something in my brain, hearing those opening notes. Wow.

    It's been closed and archived. We don't get enough discussion related traffic on the forums anymore to warrant a separate section for "off-topic" discussion.

    We removed this entire Review system from the PYGR forum years ago. It was not really used, placed a lot of stress and pressure on a small number of staff members, and just added a second, completely extraneous layer of bureaucracy to OCR's pipeline. Overall we're de-emphasizing tags across the forum. Most people did not use them in any meaningful way.

    Fixes The MP3s for two recent remixes had some unintented skipping due to an error in the upload process. Those files have been updated and redistributed across our mirrors. Please update your local collections accordingly. Head to the audition event for details. Speaking of Projects, we've setup a new Project Comms forum that offers a direct channel to OCR's Project Staff (lead by @Kit Vivid) for all of your coordination needs. The threads you make are private, so only you and staff will see it. If you're currently running any album projects, head over there and setup a dedicated thread for each one. This will help Kit and the rest of the staff keep up with questions and communications about files, consent forms, album art, etc. Coming off rebuilding the Submissions system as a forum module and building the 8Tracks feature, I'm experimenting more with creating some tools for album project directors to play with in conjunction with the forum's Clubs feature. If you're an album project director and you're interested, head over to the OCR Discord and ask me about it. We'll see if we can get you set up. That's all for now.     The Fabled Warriors album series has had a pretty strong concept from the start: each track is not just a remix of music from Final Fantasy V, but also serves as a character theme for either a named character in the game or one of the many jobs in Final Fantasy V. We've done two albums already and have covered a lot of ground. WIth Volume 3, we'll be focusing on Faris, Gilgamesh, and the jobs you obtain from the fire crystal. Here's a breakdown of what I'm looking for: Faris The reckless and courageous pirate captain. Pirates Ahoy! Gilgamesh The eight-armed sword hunter. Battle on the Big Bridge Beastmaster “Trainers whose open hearts and strong wills allow them to capture and control enemy monsters.” aggressive Geomancer “Harnessing the power of their surroundings, they easily avoid pits and floors with damaging effects.” Cursed Earth heavy and rhythmic Ninja “Stealthy fighters who excel at surprising enemies and can wield two weapons at once.” Intention of the Earth fast and mysterious Bard “Musicians whose dulcet tones soothe savage beasts…or kill them.” melodic and lyrical Ranger “Nature-loving archers who can call on local wildlife for aid.” adventurous For Faris and Gilgamesh, the linked sources are required. For Geomancer and Ninja, these are just suggestions; if you think you can capture the essence of the job with another source, I'm excited to hear it. However, I'd like to avoid using sources from the previous FFV albums. To audition, please post a rough sketch of your concept in the Auditions forum in this club. Specify which character or job you're trying to portray. Your audition track should be at least 30 seconds; just enough to clue me in on what your approach is a general sense of your skill level. Collaborations are absolutely allowed/encouraged. You can audition for multiple tracks as well if you'd like. Auditions will run from today until June 30th, after which I'll evaluate and assign tracks. You'll gain access to more of the club then, and we'll also get some Discord chats going on the main OCR server.

    Inspired by the old playlisting site, I dove into Invision's database tool and built out a fun new feature I like to call 8Tracks! Create a playlist of exactly 8 OC ReMixes by entering their OCR IDs (e.g. OCR01235) in the form and generate a player that you can listen to and share. We've put together a couple of 8Tracks already, which you can find at the 8Tracks Index, but feel free to make your own! The link is also available at the top of the forum page in the main navigation next to ReMix Submissions. To premptively answer a few questions: Why can't I do more than 8? The forum software I'm using to build out these kinds of features is very limited, so I need to lean into these types of restrictions to make them work. Wouldn't it be easier to have an "Add to playlist" button on the actual ReMix pages? The main site and the forums are actually far more separated than it seems. It's almost impossible to develop user-specific features for the non-forum part of the site. Is this the playlist function you've been talking about for a long time? No. Eventually I want to build a proper, robust playlist function that hooks into the remix database and also ties to user accounts with no restrictions on playlist length; that will come as part of the full site rewrite that will happen eventually. However, building this feature (especially the JS stuff and how it interacts with the YouTube player API) has taught me a lot and I'll be able to apply these lessons to the eventual rewrite.
