  1. Aaah! I forgot that you Americans already put your clocks forward, so I might as well be prompt with the results of this compo. Just you wait til WE put our clocks forward as well... eh, nevermind. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 5 Highest possible score - 15 Chickenwarlord receives yet another last place wooden spoon with 7 points. Knives picked his nose (o_O) all the way to second place with 9 points. And the winner by an unanimous decision is Sir Nuts with 15 points! Welcome back to the PRC clan, Mr. Molina. Now that you managed to take your first win in quite a while, it's time to push you to make your selection on the source tune for PRC116. I doubt I'd be on MSN much for this week due to healing a dental injury, but please send me a source tune when you've got one. Hopefully if things go down well, we should at least get PRC ready for this coming Friday. Be there, gentlemen!
  2. The mixing stage is over. Now it's time to get with the voting. There are three mixes here, so this is what you're going to do. You should go to the ThaSauce page and fill out the form so that you arrange the mixes from first to third, with a reasoning attached to it. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will get 3 extra points if they do so. The winner of PRC114 (that's me!) will have their vote doubled. You have until Wednesday, March 12th at 4:59AM EST to make your decision. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC116! Chickenwarlord - Diddy's Done It! Knives - Why Do Gorillas Have Big Nostrils Sir Nuts - All for Bananas
  3. I looked at the two themes. Given that you're so willing to contribute something for Vigorous Town, I'll let you keep it. Myself, I think I can form something out of Euclid. If I get any updates regarding progress for it, I'll inform the project managers about it.
  4. Don't worry, I haven't been around much albeit for different reasons altogether (like, I'm bound to get into employment before the year is out). I can understand your feelings though, hope you get better soon
  5. ...so this means I have to go back to the drawing board, again? I know Kyle was seeking for help on the Phantasia side but it's hard to find something worth approaching that HASN'T been given coverage yet. :\
  6. Time to add some brief notifications myself to get some activity going: - Beated ToS today (woohoo!) and may I say, what a ride - I'm still concerned for some of the slackers, so mind if I take up Vigorous Town? I've got pretty much a free week ahead. - Continuing to reference to point 1, I am now SO looking forward to hear what LuiZa and CHM have done with Fatalize after hearing it so many times just fighting Abyssion and Seles! Pure genius
  7. Two VGMix tracks and another at Newgrounds? :\ Well, I do appreciate your attempt to stand me corrected, but you know how OCR feels over the whole "interpretation and lack thereof" issue that we see here. I haven't listend to Zero Bass's attempt though, but given my lack of impression on some of his other works I don't think I'll be game to see much of an improvement.
  8. D'oh! Notepad fails again. Thanks for pointing that out.
  9. The People's Remix Competition 115 PRCv5-11 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC114 had a late start, but its Fire Emblem related contest sparked up a decent turnout regardless with a quant trio of entries being submitted for it. And once again, you guys wanted yours truly to pick a source tune. Don't worry, I've got it covered. We are still with established Nintendo franchises, albeit I've got a killer. Maybe aside from Super Mario World, we are looking into one of the greatest SNES platformers ever made. And you can't even resist it when there's monkeys involved now, can't you? If there's anyone that's been here from back at PRC53, you can understand that Donkey Kong was a big deal to me when I was a kid. I went through the entire Land trilogy on the GameBoy and later started emulating the Country set, and saw a beautifully crafted set of platformers from Rare that seemed to end up ranking as one of the most creative sets of platformers I saw from Nintendo at the time. Heck, it even kicked back in again when I re-downloaded the second title through the Wii Virtual Console around the New Year and when re-looking at it again I was in love once more. Dave Wise's music has generally been inspirational to quite a lot of remixing personnel out here. With a project based on the first game out and plenty of contributions for the second (with most done by Protricity >.>) we can see that his score is not only fun to listen to but pretty awesome to interpret at the same time. There are few DKC2 tracks gone untouched, but I felt the one I picked for this contest is one of the more melodic of those untouched works, and has enough going on to have been warranted a remix sooner rather than later. I hope you all appreciate this well enough; no monkeying around this week! Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest - Donkey Kong Rescued (End Credits) MIDI | MP3 | SPC Is it me or has Nintendo gaming generally been the ways of success for the PRC over the past 2 months? We need to keep up the feat GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SUNDAY, March 9th at 4:59 am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of the previous contest can't take part but their vote will be doubled. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.
  10. Right, the voting stage is over. It's time we tabulated the overall winning party and see who will pick the source tune next time. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 9 Highest possible score - 27 Chickenwarlord achieved yet another last place wooden spoon with 13 points. Retsej majestically debuted into second place with 19 points. And the winner of PRC114 is Rexy with 25 points! Right, so you want me to pick the source tune for PRC115. >.> I'll go ahead and do that, and I am really sure we'll get something started on time tonight. Still, what can I say? For a round that started late we got a pretty good turnout and I'm happy with what came through. Let's keep up the progress for PRC115. What will it be? You will see. (Oh btw seto, that "middle eastern" instrument was "far east" (koto) and the fact that Stewart Copeland often uses it as something to compliment the baselines in some of his compositions shows one sign of my inspirations for this week )
  11. Ah, I was wondering who he was. I thought he was DZComposer uploading his entry under a different username, but it turns out they had different IPs. It goes to show that it helps to spread the word
  12. Oh, and... Shut up V, I bet you're still jealous over the Xaleph incident
  13. The mixing stage is over. Even with the awkward timing of the contest, we've still managed to get a decent turnout, so good for you. This is what's going to happen. You will visit the ThaSauce link and arrange all three entries from first to third with a reasoning attached to your vote. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will get an extra three points upon doing so, but they should not rank their own entry. The vote of PRC113's winner (setokaibarocket) is doubled, so make sure you impress him. You have until Friday, February 29th at 4:59AM EST to make your vote. The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC115! Chickenwarlord - Relic Retsej - Earth and Fire Rexy - Magvel at 2AM
  14. Well you can still try. There's 8 hours left and I'm sure something can be done at this rate. Heck, I thought I wouldn't finish mine either but I'm still in. Just remember that with PRC, standards could differ from person to person. What may sound like a work in progress to one remixer may sound more like a kickass entry from another. And knowing what I've seen from you in the past, I'm sure your input would sound fine if you send it through.
  15. But will there be anyone to contribute something to it? You guys have 34 hours left, so make good use of your time. Like I said, due to this long wait just for the source tune alone I'm not going to add any time extensions this time around, so BE HASTY.
  16. D'oh! I didn't read hard enough. Back to the drawing board, lol.
  17. Lockjaw's Locker had a great BGM to go with it, I agree on that. However, given its melodic structures I'm assuming that it'll be very difficult to make an arrangement out of it in comparison to stuff like Stickerbrush Symphony or that lava level track (forgot its name ). That's what made me think that Protricity might have not wanted to initially attempt it. Someone could prove me wrong though, and I'm willing to see it happen
  18. Yeah, you're absolutely right. It's a shame that said party member went through a lot since even the seal of fire, but I suppose we can associate. (If it helps, I'm now in possession of the Rheairds; quick-random-battle-evasion-while-looking-for-treasure, here I come!) I too seem to have good hope for the follow-up as well. Assuming that the Tales Studio have been consistent, we might see something polished, and even if the voice actors face a change it's not going to bother me because I saw it happen in a lot of franchises I've followed in the past, and I didn't let it get to me. (and seriously, they NEED to bring in Kratos somewhere, even if he wouldn't be used in your character party.) Kyle, I know you're probably a little late but I'm ready to try one more track to help speed things along. Since The Prophet took my initial proposal for As Time Goes On (it's ok though, I'm sure he can do better than me), I looked in the soundtrack and thought I could do something with The Final Act. Is that okay with you?
  19. The People's Remix Competition 114 PRCv5-10 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC113 saw just as big a response as PRC111 thanks to some StarTropics coverage being sent in all directions. And amidst the strong turnout, newcomer setokaibarocket sent a surprising first trance adaptation that impressed the majority of the personnel here and gave him the win. Weirdly enough, we have had to wait over the weekend before he could send a source tune but we got one anyway. We're going back to the Game Boy Advance this time, albeit we're looking at an established Nintendo franchise that never saw the light of day outside Japan until it saw some promotion in Super Smash Bros Melee. Any RPG fans in the house? Seto didn't send a description of the piece, but he DID send an apology:- Mind, I still managed to analyse the track myself. Though I have yet to play a Fire Emblem game, I seem to already recognise the theme enough by an interpretation of the Rekka No Ken version from Xenon Odyssey on OverLooked ReMix a couple of years back. Still, this variation's got enough additional material to be considered a stand-alone track in its own right, so that's good enough for me. Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - Main Theme GSF (library) | MIDI | MP3 This better be the last time we face a delay by this degree. Still, this will also mean that I'm not willing to offer time extensions either, so be on your toes, gentlemen. >.> GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. 20. You got it in in time alright. I label it as "Monday lunchtime EST" while you end up labelling it as "early Tuesday morning" in Australia, so I see where you're coming from. Nonetheless, I got the source and it'll be up before you know it!
  21. Well I sent a bunch of reminders to him via PM and he hasn't responded. And by the looks of his recent posts he hasn't visited the site since he won the compo. If he doesn't send anything by tomorrow lunchtime, then I'm going to have to consult one of the lower ranks of the contest for a source tune.
  22. Sadly yes. I don't get why he's taking so long
  23. Just letting you know that I got that hyped over the project now I actually OBTAINED Tales of Symphonia two weeks back. And you're right, story in this is very engaging and the battle system is actually pretty fun
  24. As good as a set of soundtracks the Advance Wars series have, I'm still willing to wait for the winner to send me a source tune. But I won't wait for long, and I have my own agenda concerning what happens.
  25. You don't have time to ponder. It's 9AM EST now, I would typically start the PRC again in a few more hours, and you STILL haven't sent me a source tune. I suggest you get cracking immediately.
