  1. hah! Ancient Adventures... I used to play the EGA version of that on the 286 emulator board we had on our Amiga 2000. Ah memories. (:
  2. Nope, I was never able to find an emulator that would play it. But hey, youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5cQ8x3vb70
  3. I bought Dark Seed II, unopened, one time at a yard sale. i didn't realize until I got home an hour later that it was the mac version.
  4. seconded on The Dig. It's not terribly long, but the soundtrack is phenomenal and the atmosphere in the game is excellent. It's not an adventure game, but I also heartily recommend "Realms of the Haunting" if you can find a copy of it. It's more of a hybrid FPS/Adventure game with a lovecraftian horror theme. It's the first computer game that ever truly frightened me.
  5. I found this in the trash one day: It worked great.. I always wanted to use it for something in a remix, but never did
  6. Harddrive is probably dead. You might try downloading something like Ubuntu or Knoppix or PuppyLinux and see if you can boot it off a CD or USB Drive. If it's a stock system it should have only 256 megs of ram installed. It appears it can support up to 1Gb of PC2100 in the form of 2x512: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145482 You will likely need to replace the harddrive, this would be a good candidate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148128 In the end you're looking at sinking around $100 into it to make it usable. You'll still only have a celeron proccessor, and there's no telling what shape the battery is in. Good luck.
  7. Seriously only two of us so far use ffdshow? http://x264.nl/ It's small, it decodes practically everything, it's open source. Along with VLC it plays everything I've ever wanted to watch... What are ya'll looking at that you have such issues with codecs anyway?
  8. I listened to a few of your tracks on your project page. My first impression is that they're too fast and not dark enough (: I'm going to have to go back and listen to the Q1 OST again now. I'll look forward to hearing the whole project as a single set though.
  9. I've been listening to the Quake 1 soundtrack since the day they started selling demo CDs for $10. I hope this project can live up to my unrealistically high expectations (: Side topic: It's weird to see Lord Havoc mentioned like that.. I've been friends with him since Dark Places was just a QuakeC game rebalancing mod back in the late 90s
  10. A dell box with transfer rollers for a 5110CN printer, two dell Vostro 1000 laptops (with a third off screen). We buy a lot of dell computers here; they're cheap enough that if they get destroyed, no one cares. (: Here's a 9000x2492 of the same image: http://brahmsbbs.servebbs.org/ocr/desk_big.jpg All kind of odd goodies around (:
  11. I guess this thread will get split at some point, but here's my 'studio' as of the start of 2009:
  12. A few of mine: More and full size images here: http://m68030.deviantart.com/gallery/
  13. (: thanks. love the pic. Garian told me about the thread in #ocremix.
  14. Congratulations! Take my advice: Start babyproofing NOW. Seriously. He'll be walking before you know what's hit you.
  15. I'm haunted by the water dripping noise that I first heard in Quake 1. It had a particularly melodic quality to it that makes it easy to pick out. I cannot count how many games, movies, tv shows, etc I've heard it in.
  16. I might do a more palatable remix at some point, but after reading the line "as long as the final result is still recognizable as being derivative of the original work" I'm pretty sure this one doesn't count. So I'll bump the thread and share this little aberration: http://cotmm.theqcp.org/mp3/cotmm-avalon_ivorycitadel.mp3 A dark ambient/drone interpretation of Avalon entitled "Ivory Citadel". Hope ya love it.
  17. Certainly not the biggest mistake, but I regret paraphrasing the "Safe place" theme from Resident Evil in the final track of my "R'lyeh" ambient project. I was young, I didn't know any better; but it would have been much better with out that.
  18. From the ashes of a pile of dying harddrives: http://cotmm.theqcp.org/mp3/CotMM-PureLandsTotalDarkness.flac I have a few others to tag and upload as well. Here's what else I've found so far: http://cotmm.theqcp.org/mp3/CotMM-NorfairFrailtyAwaiting.flac http://cotmm.theqcp.org/mp3/CotMM-BrinstarAreciboReceptionsFrom.flac The Brinstar track was not an offical OCRemix (It ended up being too long to fit comfortably under 6 megs, and I didn't want to shorten it.)
  19. I'm planning on making subsequent releases available in FLAC, and if I ever have time to recover data from my old machine, I'd make older mixes available as such as well. Until there is a more suitable place for them to reside, here is a link to my most recent, encoded at 48khz and 24bit: http://cotmm.theqcp.org/mp3/CotMM-StevePordon-Solstice_DemnosInquisitor-48k24b.flac
  20. I'm enjoying listening to it while driving around town. It isn't the most polished thing he's ever produced, but I'm finding it very highly enjoyable, though I do agree there is a lot of 'this sounds unfinished" to it. Once the multi-tracks are more readily available, I can see them being very useful for creating musical beds for videos and what not (since, as far as I know, they're being released under the CC)
  21. Get me a registered copy of Lord 4.07 and I'll put up a server.
  22. Thanks for all the kind words (and the few odd ones, (Edgecrusher)). Fatherhood has certainly already changed my life significantly. And the lack of sleep hasn't been terrible... yet. Anyway, here's some snapshots of the past few days, if anyone's interested in a day in the life of the Monkey Machine. http://cotmm.theqcp.org/album1/
  23. Children of the Monkey Machine would like to annouce the birth of the first Daughter of the Monkey Machine, Lauren Elizabeth!! Born Monday, March 3rd, at 10:51am. 6lbs, 13oz, 20 inches long.
