Bwahahaha What does amateurish mean, exactly? Also, I take it as a compliment that you say I sing like a woman. Women sing pretty-ish! -

Genre preferences can really add spice to reviews!! Reading between the lines, it sounds like you think the song is awesome (professional) but you just don't like the genre it represents. I wouldn't be surprised if starblast takes your review as a compliment.....genre preferences aside, is there anything you notice which isn't up to snuff with "professional" so as to provide some helpful feedback, or do you truly think it's of highest quality pop? I DO take it as a compliment, and I also agree. I freaking hate modern music, and if I didnt make it (or i guess, if it wasnt about video games, if it was about love or something stupid and pretentious) I'd hate it too. But I made it and its about videogames, so i like it alright Then again, I think it's silly to discount a whole genre of music (well, besides country of course, go ahead and discount it) because even in pop there are some gems that are actually pretty nice. Keep an open mind, you might be suprised at what you find. -
hey, uh, I made a jingle. http://www.starblast.org/starsongs/jingle.mp3

bahaha geezus people, enough with the ego bashing. I dont have a big ego! I just dont believe in false modesty No reason to be like "omg i suck" to fish for compliments, right? Just cuz I really like my own music (who doesnt like their own stuff?), and think I'm a cool person doesnt mean I have a big ego It just means I have a lot of confidence. That being said, thanks for the compliments, they help too -
Protricity has an insane attention to detail that's almost intoxicating. This mix's percussion, melodic elements and layering are near perfect. The overall sound is very well put-together, while at the same time being ridiculously complicated. This is an extremely hard thing to do, and obviously a lot of thought went into instrument placement, frequency range placement, and dynamics. The panned elements are great, extremely subtle... but still leave a "holy crap thats neet" feeling. And of course, we get some nifty prot-style guitarage to round the whole thing off. Great job.

Well, the song has to be under 6 megs, and If i had started anymore development, I would have butted up against the limit. as it stands its 5.7 megs at 128kps. Personally, I dont like putting anything out unless its at least 160. I used to not be able to even tell the difference. But when you listen to the song 100000 times in wav format and then encode it you can hear every detail Anyway, hope that answered your question.

Thanks for listening, everyone! I would have loved to build on the song more... but i'm usually not good at doing that in a 6 minute timeframe. All of my originals are around 9 - 15 minutes and so i'm usually able to develop nicely. I suppose that's something I should work on... Anyway, thanks again for all your support!

OCR00852 - Final Fantasy VI "Deserted Industry"
StarBLaSt replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
You know, normally i really dont dig this style of music. The thing is, beatdrop's stuff is just easily accessable to people like me. He sorta "bridges the gap" between genres to create something not quite totally industrial and not quite anything else either. It's his own style, its BeatDrop. And I LOVE it. This piece is no exception. I wouldn't necessarily say this is my favorite piece of his, but technicially you can see BeatDrop is becoming even more adept at his craft. Great job on this, loved the fusion of industrial elements. You gotta teach me how to make percussion sound like that one of these days ---------------------------------- Star Salzman www.starblast.org -
OCR00788 - Streets of Rage 2 "Slow Moon Groove"
StarBLaSt replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ahhh i heard part of this mix back in the day. I loved it then. I love it now. I dont think its too short, thats why you just keep it on loop, duh. Its a very grooooovy tromp. I donno the original music, but i seriously love this. The synth work and the groove work is just phenomenal. Great job Avien, i totally dig this one. -

hey thanks everyone for taking the time to check this song out. I really appeciate the feedback. visit www.starblast.org for all your starmusic needs :D ------------------------------- Star Salzman -
alright here's the deal. I hear your 4/4 and 3/3 gripes with this song. But in response i say you're not listening hard enough. If you listen closely, you'll see that the drums are in fact in a pseudo 3/3. This is accomplished using a hi-hat velocity change on every 3rd beat. If you listen closely to JUSt the drum track you will have trouble counting off 4/4. http://www.starblast.org/starsongs/pdrums.mp3 I admit its hard to get used to but once you hear that the drums are in 3/3 the whole song kinda just fits together. Yeah, listening to music shouldnt be this difficult, and perhaps i should have made the 3/3 drums stand out more. But by the time i was finished with the song, i was used to the pseudo 3/3 and it was fine. Look to the melody for the pulse of the song in this one, not the drums, if you get my drift... But in any case, i like the crazyness of the drums. It gives the song a unique feel in my opinion.. even if it is awkward at first.

well it all depends on your definition of stellar, thats true, but Merriam-Webster defines the word Stellar as And since my name is Star Salzman, the song is most assuredly Star-oriented, thus making it stellar. But yeah, its nothing special and its not meant to be... my goal was to create a simple, catchy arrangement... mostly to see if i could tackle the crazy 3/3 rhythm into something trancy/dancy. Thanks for all the feedback
